01:00 >> Does this just go to show you that you just have to,
01:10 not only have to stay ready, but you have to try to stay positive and
01:16 stay ready even when things aren't going your way?
01:21 >> Yeah, for sure, you definitely gotta stay positive and stay ready cuz
01:26 any player, your number can get called, you never know.
01:31 I didn't expect me to be here.
01:32 I just think that happens, especially at this position, running back and
01:36 stuff like that.
01:37 It can happen anyway.
01:38 >> What's it like to play in a game that is that back and forth?
01:41 So many lead changes,
01:42 it feels like the game hangs in the balance on every possession.
01:45 What's it like mentally to play in a game like that?
01:48 >> I mean, you just gotta stay on top of it, man.
01:50 You can never get too high, never get too low.
01:52 You gotta always go out there and do your job.
01:56 And every play matters.
01:58 There's scoring quick and we're scoring quick.
02:02 Everything we do is just matter.
02:05 >> Kevin said that he has that fourth down play and it was popped all along.
02:10 So how excited were you to know that that was gonna be your moment?
02:15 >> I was about ready to go in the pocket so I didn't get it.
02:18 But I was excited when I heard the play call.
02:21 I know the offense line was very excited too.
02:23 And we had to play powerhouse football and get it in.
02:28 >> You guys gotta go to Seattle to play one of the toughest environments to play
02:31 just because of the noise factor.
02:33 Just how in tune do you guys have to be this week as far as dealing with those
02:37 silent counts and making sure you guys are on point with the details of the operation?
02:43 >> We just gotta communicate.
02:45 Do a great job of communicating with each other and sign signals or anything like that.
02:51 We just gotta be detailed and stay on top of it, be on the same page.
02:56 >> I mean, how much of a creeps are you in that sense?
03:00 Is this stuff seeming a little surreal to you?
03:03 Is this something you've kind of been waiting for to get back and then such a role as you're in again?
03:08 >> I mean, most definitely.
03:10 It is.
03:11 It's kind of crazy to think about it.
03:13 Like I said, about midway through September, he would ask me.
03:17 I probably would have said I wouldn't come back or something or I didn't know.
03:21 I didn't know about that.
03:23 It happened for a reason.
03:25 I got a plan for us and this team.
03:28 >> Why do you think that's happening?
03:33 >> We're just playing together as a team, fighting for each other.
03:37 The defense has been doing a great job of holding up.
03:40 And we gotta come in and still put points on the board and just play together.
03:46 That's what we do.
03:48 >> What makes you confident in this running back's role that you guys can continue to bring that run game
03:53 no matter how many of you guys end up going down?
03:56 >> Yeah, I mean, we got good offensive line, good skins.
04:01 And I feel like we just do a good job of just next man up.
04:06 Those guys know what it takes to be a great running back.
04:09 Coach Stump is one of the best running back coaches in the league.
04:13 He knows how to get guys mentally ready to play.
04:16 So we gotta stay on top of that.
04:19 It's a good different season.
04:23 This is my fifth year.
04:26 >> Does this team seem unique?
04:29 You were on the playoff team.
04:32 What's the difference with this team?
04:34 >> I feel like we're definitely a closer team.
04:38 I feel like as a whole we all play for each other, not just individually and stuff like that.
04:46 I feel like that's how it was 2020 too.
04:49 Talent wise, I feel like we got the most talent since I've been here the past five years.
04:55 We got a lot of good players.
04:58 >> How do you handle the uncertainty of being a quarterback position?
05:02 >> It's just next man up.
05:04 I know DeSean's fighting.
05:06 Get ready to try to play or anything he can do to help us.
05:11 Right now we just gotta keep finding ways to win.
05:14 It's not always gonna be pretty.
05:16 We just gotta fight and find a way to win.
05:19 >> Does DeSean have a message for you guys as he's trying to fight?
05:23 >> Man, just be in there for his teammates.
05:26 What a quarterback should do.
05:29 Try and help us think of ways to help win and what we gotta do.
05:34 We need a teammate, a guy like that.
05:37 >> Can you tell it's hard on him not knowing and not being out there with what's happening?
05:41 >> I'm sure it's stressful.
05:43 Yeah, I'm not really sure.
05:46 >> Your attempts have gone up over the last few weeks.
05:50 How has your comfort level and confidence just kind of as you've adjusted back to being here?
05:54 How has that grown?
05:57 >> I'm very comfortable.
05:58 Like I said, it's my fifth year here, so I pretty much know everybody.
06:03 The coaches, the players and stuff like that.
06:05 I just feel good to get back and get used to getting banged around and stuff after missing camp
06:12 and offseason and stuff like that.
06:14 You can't really simulate those real reps and trams.
06:22 >> What's it like watching Ronald Skerrick?
06:25 It seems like everyone all of a sudden has discovered him after the game he had against the Colts,
06:29 but you've been his teammate for five years.
06:31 What's it like watching him and how he's able to dominate defensively?
06:36 >> It's fun.
06:37 It's really fun getting on the sideline and watching him.
06:40 Whenever we need a big player, I'm on the sideline.
06:43 I'm on my office.
06:45 I need to.
06:46 It's that time.
06:47 He always pulls through and makes the big plays.
06:50 He's been doing it for the past six, seven years.
06:54 You know what type of player he is.
06:56 >> Thanks, man.
06:58 >> Thanks, Kirk.
