00:00 We meet here for the 14th time, and if not for the pandemic, it would have been the 15th edition of this competition.
00:12 How did it happen? You could say that it happened spontaneously.
00:18 Once we were sitting on a bench here in Piękocin.
00:23 It is a town that I always remember well. I even have the title of honorary resident here, which is also obligatory.
00:37 There was a proposal, there were horses in Piękocin at that time, unfortunately they are no longer there today,
00:42 although maybe there were some who would take part in the Orca.
00:47 There was a proposal to organize something like a competition here, but it was a local event.
00:55 When we did such an event, it gained momentum.
00:59 Oracze from Wielkopolska came, our people also came here.
01:05 And that's how it started. We have participants here who come from far away, from Ulmierzyce.
01:13 Over time, it turned out that it exceeded all our expectations.
01:19 Because it was supposed to be a local, camaraderie event.
01:24 When participants from Wielkopolska and Lower Silesia started to come here,
01:30 our Oracze friends, we had to think about something.
01:37 We had to increase the fund. I was then an employee of the Lower Silesian Farm House,
01:42 I was also a delegate of the Lower Silesian Farm House.
01:45 I had some influence there so that we could get some bigger funds.
01:50 And we did an inter-provincial Orca competition.
01:54 This regulation has changed little from what I still had the pleasure of arranging.
01:59 There are only small modifications.
02:02 You have to go around the so-called "zagon" twice.
02:07 You have to come to this "zagon" twice.
02:10 And what is the most important in all this?
02:13 Just like in sports, the most important thing is quality.
02:18 The speed of this Orca is also important.
02:22 And the general appearance of the Oracze and the horse.
02:26 - How should a well-positioned skiba look like?
02:29 - A well-positioned skiba should be inverted and should be laid
02:33 one on top of the other, so that there are no such long breaks,
02:41 no such so-called "pull-outs".
02:44 It's hard for me to describe it here.
02:47 At the moment I would have to show it on the ground.
02:50 But those who know what an Orca should look like will know it perfectly.
02:56 This is also, Mr. Editor, a situation where we show something
03:01 that is no longer in reality.
03:04 This is a competition that does not exist anymore.
03:07 Only some small "zagoniki", some gardens,
03:10 are still plowed by horse plowmen.
03:14 However, today there is no such competition.
03:18 It is a return to the past,
03:21 showing young people what a hard, very hard work it was.
03:25 - How many horses are starting today?
03:28 - Today there are fewer horses, there are more plowmen,
03:32 because it depends on the owner of the horse,
03:36 or he will rent a horse to someone.
03:39 The regulations allow it, because it would be difficult
03:42 to find as many horses as there are plowmen, right?
03:45 Today 12 plowmen were to start,
03:48 six from Lower Silesia and six from Wielkopolska.
03:52 However, from what I was told before the competition,
03:56 there will probably be only 11 plowmen.
04:00 I see there is one lady, there is a young man from Sulmierzyc,
04:06 the grandson of Mr. Józef Rękosiewicz, our Nestor,
04:11 who shows here what this plow should look like.
04:14 Mr. Rękosiewicz, as far as I know,
04:17 plows all the gardens in Sulmierzyce.
04:21 So this is a man who lives by this plow.
04:27 - There are fewer horses, because not every horse can plow.
04:32 - This is the difference. There are so-called top horses,
04:35 and they have no idea here.
04:38 Even if you lead him by the mouth,
04:41 he will not want to go.
04:44 These horses must be prepared.
04:47 People who ride horses to the so-called "fun" come here,
04:51 although today the fun in the woods is not done with horses,
04:54 unless in very difficult, inaccessible places.
04:57 But such people also come,
05:00 but these horses are already prepared for this competition,
05:03 because just like me, others just live this competition,
05:07 because it is difficult to have something so great here,
05:11 under the side, and not see it live.
