00:00 Well, we got beat today, and I'll take the blame for it.
00:04 I'm the head coach.
00:05 So, do you think you have your team ready to play?
00:08 You think you've covered all the bases and
00:10 make sure they understood what's happened before in the past with me?
00:13 And you talk about it and you address it, but obviously it wasn't enough.
00:18 So I gotta do a better job getting us ready to play.
00:22 You gotta understand every week, we talk about it all the time, every week,
00:26 it's gonna be a battle if you don't do all the small things right and execute and
00:30 play tougher than they do, you're not gonna win the game.
00:31 Definitely, that didn't happen today.
00:34 So, first half, we got some things going early and
00:38 then started to get stalled a little bit and then, you know what?
00:41 The ball started to hit the ground.
00:42 The ball hit the ground a lot.
00:46 Luckily, we recovered a few, which can't happen, and
00:48 then we started to turn the ball over.
00:49 And when we turn the ball over like that, it's hard to overcome.
00:53 And we couldn't overcome it.
00:56 So we worked with ball every day, we worked ball security, obviously not enough.
00:59 And that was the difference in the game, was turning the ball over.
01:03 So, like I said, we gotta regroup, understand that from here on out,
01:08 like I say, the schedule gets tougher every week, every team will be ready to play.
01:13 And we've gotta get better.
01:15 So it's a disappointing day.
01:16 And give the other team credit.
01:20 They won, we lost, and we didn't even do a better job.
01:24 >> Three turnovers, your right position score, they're all a little bit different.
01:28 But what do you think kind of went wrong, or
01:31 could you have adjusted there so you don't turn the ball over there?
01:34 >> Well, it's disappointing to turn the ball over that much.
01:39 I think, obviously, I gotta put our quarterback in a better position to not
01:45 turn it over, but you can't hold it that long.
01:48 It'll take a sack and field goal range.
01:52 It can't happen, we can't have the ball on the ground like we've done before.
01:55 If that happens, we can't throw interceptions.
01:58 So can we make some safer calls?
02:02 I guess we'll try.
02:04 But I think not being as consistent in the running game as we would like to,
02:11 I just think we probably need more balance and take some pressure off
02:15 the quarterback because we weren't able to, it wasn't just him,
02:19 weren't able to make contested catches.
02:21 We had plenty of chances one on one for big plays, and
02:23 we didn't make contested catches.
02:25 So it's just a combination of a lot of things, but like I said,
02:28 that's my thought, I think it's ready to go.
02:30 >> Jeff, Jack said that obviously this week heading into the game,
02:34 one of the major talking points was trying to get back down there with that coming
02:37 after the win against Notre Dame.
02:40 And Jack mentioned that he thinks that the guys maybe held on to the win a little
02:43 bit too long.
02:44 Over the course of the week,
02:45 do you think you saw times where maybe the guys weren't as locked in when they
02:48 needed to be?
02:51 >> You know what, actually I thought we were locked in,
02:52 I thought we were ready to go.
02:54 So I'm gonna stand up here and say obviously we gotta do better at that,
02:57 and we will.
02:58 But I do think the juncture in the game when we started to get sloppy with the ball,
03:04 we started getting on the ground and turned the ball over, that gave momentum.
03:08 And I didn't see them put the ball on the ground, so we gotta do a better job.
03:15 So I gotta practice it more, I gotta joke more, and it can't happen.
03:19 I don't care if it's wet, sloppy, whatever it is, we have to take care of the ball,
03:23 and we can't turn the ball over and stop drives, which is silly in our own.
03:27 >> Coach Jeff, how much did losing Renato,
03:32 Juaren, and Jarvis affect things, and what are the nature of their injuries?
03:35 >> Well, those are three really good players, so
03:38 I can lie and say it didn't affect us.
03:41 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:46 Next guy has to step up and play well, and I'm not saying they didn't,
03:49 we'll look at it in more detail.
03:50 But those are three really good players, and
03:53 without question our two corners have been really good to this point.
03:57 So losing him, I thought they did try to pick the storm a little bit.
04:03 You know what, he can play to get it done, he's gotta be more aggressive and
04:08 do a better job.
04:09 But like I said, I think it all started to kinda go downhill,
04:13 and the turnover started.
04:15 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:17 >> Anything else for Chuck?
04:19 >> What was your thinking, the first possession of the second half,
04:23 you had the ball inside your 35 and fourth and one, you decided to go for it?
04:27 >> Well, I thought we could get a half yard, so obviously I was wrong, or
04:30 obviously the play called it right.
04:31 We ran that play numerous times, and he liked to be able to bang it up in there,
04:36 with two tight ends on that side, just come off the ball.
04:40 But I came back later on third and one, and do a deep play action,
04:44 and I'd like to score a touchdown on him, or we'd call it and he fell.
04:49 So obviously it was a bad play call, and it was a bad decision,
04:51 cuz I gave him a fail goal.
04:52 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:54 >> Anything else?
04:56 All right, go.
