00:00 Now it's the sit down.
00:01 Five questions with the multi-talented,
00:03 Jessie James Decker.
00:05 Hi Jessie.
00:05 You made a huge announcement a few weeks ago.
00:08 You're pregnant with baby number four.
00:10 Congratulations.
00:11 How are you feeling?
00:12 - I'm good.
00:13 Just feeling really tired, really sleepy.
00:16 And the kids have a lot of activities that they're doing.
00:18 Some running around after them.
00:20 When I was pregnant before, they were little
00:22 and it was like a different level of exhaustion
00:24 'cause there were little babies running around.
00:25 But now they've got like gymnastics and football
00:28 and baseball and guitar lessons.
00:30 So I'm like, you know, running around after them.
00:32 They've got a lot of activities.
00:33 It's just a different level of exhaustion.
00:34 And I'm working still.
00:36 - You're a pregnancy pro at this point.
00:38 But what surprised you about this pregnancy?
00:40 - I just kind of thought
00:41 because I haven't been pregnant in five years
00:43 that it would almost be like the first time again
00:47 where your body's like, whoa, what are we doing here?
00:49 This is like brand new.
00:52 And it wasn't.
00:52 My body was like, we know what's up.
00:55 I'm like, we're doing this.
00:57 We've done this before.
00:59 - Let's talk about your new cookbook.
01:00 Congratulations.
01:01 What recipes can we expect to find inside?
01:03 What inspired you to write it?
01:05 - You know, I love cooking.
01:06 It's like one of my favorite things to do.
01:08 Not only do I just love making an amazing meal
01:11 or something delicious for my family to eat, for me to eat,
01:14 but it's also like therapeutic for me.
01:16 I love being in the kitchen
01:17 and just creating these delicious things.
01:20 And so I started sharing recipes back in the day
01:24 and I could tell that there was a demand
01:25 from people wondering how did you make that?
01:28 Or what's that recipe?
01:30 So that's kind of how the cookbook journey began for me.
01:33 Listen, I was born in Italy, raised in the South.
01:36 My whole family's from Louisiana.
01:37 So I just have roots from all over the place.
01:40 And I do feel like it has made for good flavor.
01:43 - What's the number one request that the kids have for you?
01:46 - Pasta.
01:47 All they want is pasta.
01:48 So I have a full chapter on pasta in here.
01:50 And then they also love the hearty, like in a pot stuff.
01:53 So I have a whole chapter called "Hot in a Pot."
01:56 There's this chicken thigh bake
01:57 that is very popular in my house.
02:00 It's chicken thighs over rice and vegetables.
02:02 And it's just so good.
02:05 - You celebrated your 10 year anniversary in June
02:08 with your hubby, Eric.
02:09 You guys are so cute.
02:10 How do you keep the spice going in your relationship?
02:13 - You know, we like each other.
02:15 I think that when we met,
02:17 we just saw the world the same way.
02:19 And we always have, we just have the same beliefs
02:22 and we view life and love and family
02:25 so similar that it works.
02:27 Once you've been together for so long,
02:29 you know, real life will happen.
02:31 And in those real life moments,
02:33 you've got to have such a great, strong foundation
02:35 and love and like for each other
02:37 that you're never faced by some of those heavy moments
02:39 that can happen along the way.
02:41 So I think for us, we just had a strong foundation
02:43 and I don't know, I just like the guy.
02:45 - And what do date nights look like
02:47 in the Decker household?
02:48 - I cook so much.
02:49 So sometimes it's nice to get a little break
02:51 and have him take me out.
02:52 We went on a date last night, which was so much fun.
02:55 It was just like a little sexy night out for us.
02:58 You know, we went and we ordered every dessert on the menu
03:01 and it was just nice to have some quiet time
03:03 to listen to music on the car ride over
03:06 and just held hands.
03:07 It was just like nice to be alone.
03:09 - I can't believe that I'm saying this,
03:11 that the holidays are fast approaching.
03:13 What are your non-negotiable traditions
03:15 when it comes to you guys celebrating as a family?
03:18 - I've always been that girl that's like,
03:19 we're not gonna do Christmas until Thanksgiving is over,
03:22 but I feel like I may be changing.
03:24 I don't know.
03:25 I may want like a hybrid of still some fall festive things
03:29 mixed with a little bit of Christmas,
03:31 but I won't go like winter wonderland
03:33 until Thanksgiving's over.
03:35 - Have you tried any traditions with the family
03:37 that maybe just didn't pan out?
03:39 - Yeah, so the last few years,
03:40 we were trying to do like Thanksgiving, like on a trip.
03:45 So we've been going to Mexico
03:46 and doing the whole travel thing.
03:49 And it's fun, but by the time the Thanksgiving meal is served
03:52 the kids are not happy.
03:53 They're like, this doesn't taste like the real thing, mom.
03:56 This isn't the gravy you make.
03:58 So I'm thinking I'm either gonna have to make
04:01 a Thanksgiving meal before we leave or when we return,
04:04 or maybe we just won't travel on Thanksgiving.
04:07 - And finally, pick a project
04:09 and play it for the next 10 seconds.
04:10 You ready?
04:11 Let's go.
04:12 - You guys, my new cookbook, "Just Eat" is out.
04:15 So make sure you go grab it.
04:17 Make sure you grab my brand new single,
04:18 "I'm Gonna Love You."
04:19 It's out everywhere.
04:20 And check out my new Christmas EP out in November.
04:23 - Jessie, thank you so much for being here.
04:25 - Thank you.
04:26 Good talking to you.
