00:00 Welcome back to Pinoy MD!
00:02 And as I told you earlier,
00:04 we will be joined by our resident obstetrician gynecologist, Doc Q,
00:08 to answer the questions you sent us regarding our health.
00:13 So let's welcome him.
00:15 Good morning to you, Doc Q!
00:17 Good morning, Connette.
00:18 Good morning to our viewers.
00:20 Are you ready, Doc Q?
00:22 Here's our first question.
00:24 Is it normal for a woman to have a pain in her bladder and her uterus when she has menstruation?
00:31 That question is from Norisa Pio.
00:34 It's normal for other women to have pain in their bladder, uterus, and other parts of the body when they have menstruation.
00:42 And this is because of hormonal changes, fluctuations in progesterone and estrogen
00:48 that control the menstrual cycle of a woman.
00:51 And when it comes to menstruation, or even before menstruation,
00:54 about 3 to 4 days before menstruation,
00:56 other women feel pain in their bladder because their breasts swell,
01:01 and they have edema because of the fluctuations of hormones.
01:05 So it's okay to feel those concerns.
01:09 And this is another question, Doc,
01:10 will a 48-year-old woman have a pregnancy if she stops using contraceptive pills?
01:16 This is from Lei F.
01:18 If you're 48 years old and you're on pills,
01:21 and you're regularly menstruating,
01:22 if you stop using pills and you're still menstruating every month,
01:27 potentially, you're still capable of getting pregnant.
01:30 So a woman in the perimenopausal period can still have a pregnancy.
01:34 Next question for you, Doc.
01:36 Is it normal for a woman to not have a pregnancy for a year?
01:40 That question is from Annie Mee, Jaikten, and Daniel.
01:46 You're in the reproductive age, Annie Mee,
01:49 and before this problem, you were regularly menstruating,
01:52 and now, you haven't been menstruating for a year.
01:55 That's called secondary amenorrhea.
01:57 And there are many reasons why a woman has secondary amenorrhea.
02:02 First, anorexia nervosa,
02:04 or maybe a woman is obese and suddenly she lost weight,
02:08 and then she has obesity, and she has hormonal imbalances.
02:12 The main reason for that is in the endocrine system of a person,
02:17 like in the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, if there's a problem there,
02:21 if there's a problem in hormone production,
02:23 the menstrual cycle of a woman can be affected.
02:27 Or it can also be in the end organ, which we call ovary, and uterus.
02:32 In ovaries, the most common problem there is polycystic ovary syndrome.
02:36 And this is only diagnosed in ultrasound,
02:39 or in clinical presentations of a woman.
02:42 So if you have a problem that you haven't been menstruating for a year,
02:46 you should see your gynecologist
02:48 so that you can be evaluated properly and given the right medicine
02:53 so that you can menstruate again.
02:55 Thank you, Doc.
02:56 Lastly, why is it that she's been delayed for 5 months
03:00 but the result of her pregnancy test is negative?
03:04 The question is from Queenie Lyer.
03:07 If you haven't been menstruating for 5 months
03:10 and your pregnancy test is negative,
03:12 and you might have repeated your negative pregnancy test,
03:15 so two negative pregnancy tests, there are many reasons for that.
03:19 I also want to know if you're on a diet or you eat a lot
03:23 because if there's a sudden weight loss or sudden weight gain,
03:26 there can be hormonal imbalance and this can be a problem.
03:29 Or it can also be in the ovaries.
03:33 If you have polycystic ovary syndrome,
03:35 if you have tumors that cause hormonal imbalance,
03:38 you can also have this problem.
03:40 So it's important to see your doctor, especially the gynecologist,
03:45 so that you can be examined and evaluated properly.
03:48 Thank you so very much, Dr. Q,
03:50 for answering our questions and of course for guiding our patients.
03:55 Send your questions to our Facebook page
03:58 and maybe the next question that we'll read here will be from you.
04:03 See you next week!
