I worked out like Zac Efron for 7 DAYS!! In this video, I do Zac Efron’s ab routine from Baywatch! He recently posted a video where he did this ab routine with Alexandra Daddario and it looked intense — so I had to try it out myself! I include a description of all of the exercises, my results, and before and after clips to see how it all worked! Did I get a 6 pack? Did I get Baywatch worthy abs in 7 days? Watch and find out!

00:00 Hey guys, and welcome back to my channel.
00:02 Today is the first day of me trying to do
00:04 Zac Efron's ab routine from Baywatch for an entire week.
00:07 So just recently, Zac Efron posted a video
00:10 with Alexander Dodario doing their ab routine
00:12 that they use to prepare for Baywatch.
00:15 Zac Efron is definitely known for his abs,
00:17 especially in Baywatch, where he even said in the video
00:20 that he was at an unsustainable body fat percentage.
00:23 So these are probably gonna be pretty intense.
00:25 So basically, I'm just gonna follow along the video
00:27 as well as I can, and we'll just see how my abs look
00:29 at the end of the week.
00:30 I'm not really expecting any extreme changes.
00:33 I feel like a lot of people do these,
00:35 oh, doing Alexis Ren's ab workout for a month video
00:38 and expect to have abs at the end of it,
00:40 but Zac Efron did not make his Baywatch abs in a week,
00:44 so I'm not expecting to have Baywatch abs in a week.
00:47 So yeah, let's go try the ab routine.
00:49 Okay, so I just started my leg workout
00:51 because there were some people in this room
00:53 and we had to wait for it to be empty,
00:55 but basically, I wanted to do an ab check-in
00:57 before and after.
00:59 So this is relaxed,
01:01 and then this is flexed,
01:05 which I honestly don't think my abs
01:07 look better flexed than relaxed.
01:08 But yeah, this is how I am before this.
01:13 Again, I don't really think I'm going to get a six pack
01:17 in a week because that is just not really possible,
01:20 but we're just gonna see.
01:21 So I have the video up just so,
01:23 oh God, I just clicked on something else.

01:30 Okay, I know the first one is a dead bug.
01:32 Okay, they don't say how many of each rep to do,
01:36 which is kind of annoying.
01:37 Since they're kind of doing partner ab moves,
01:39 but we just have me, so we're not gonna do that.
01:41 So basically, I have to do, I'm gonna do like 20.
01:44 I don't know what a good number is
01:45 'cause I do a decent amount of different exercises,
01:49 but basically, I have to hold that tight under my back
01:53 so that they make sure that my back
01:55 is flat against the ground.
01:56 - Bug, you're gonna lay with the band
01:58 at your low back, so basically,
01:59 right below your belly button.
02:01 - When you push your back to the floor
02:02 and hold this band down,
02:03 it's forcing the transverse abdominus to work.

02:08 - They don't tell you how many reps of things to do,
02:12 so I guess this video isn't meant to be a follow along,
02:15 but okay, now I need to do an abandoned hollow body,
02:20 and they kind of, again, this is a partner thing.
02:24 They hold onto this.
02:25 I wonder if I can just hold onto this
02:26 on the ground and do it.
02:27 They don't make this very easy for one person to do.
02:29 This is my makeshift person again.
02:33 I guess that works.
02:34 Okay, I'm gonna do like 12 of these
02:37 'cause these are usually kind of harder.
02:38 - A little bit of a competition.
02:39 I want both of you guys
02:40 like a little bit in front of your chest
02:42 so there's some tension on the band.
02:43 Zach will go for a rep, Alex will go for a rep.

02:48 - Crazy. - Make 'em up.
02:49 - That one's definitely a bit harder
02:52 'cause you're definitely like
02:53 keeping your whole body crunched
02:55 and moving your legs in and out,
02:57 but again, it's not like too bad.
02:58 Maybe it would have been harder
02:59 if I was like holding onto the band,
03:01 but I did have to like add some resistance up there.
03:04 So having the band was fun,
03:06 but again, I think you can do these things without the band.
03:08 Okay, so these are kind of Russian twists.
03:11 You can do these alone as well,
03:14 but I feel like throwing the ball adds a little bit.
03:17 So I'm just gonna do Russian twists by myself.
03:19 It's probably a little bit harder when someone's throwing it
03:22 but we only have one person
03:24 and most people aren't doing partner abs every day.
03:27 Number three, little Russian twist.
03:30 Gonna twist to the right and then toss the ball to Alex.
03:32 She's gonna twist to her left.
03:34 (upbeat music)
03:36 - Hey. - Yeah.
03:38 - Nice. - Woo.
03:39 So these are like medicine ball like pass things.
03:43 I am actually gonna have my boyfriend help me with this one,
03:47 but I'm just like kind of scared
03:49 that the medicine ball's gonna like hit me in the face
03:51 'cause like that happened to me when I was younger
03:52 and it was kind of traumatizing.
03:54 So let's hope that I can actually catch it
03:56 and it won't hit me in the face.
03:57 So I need to go grab another medicine ball.
03:59 Okay, so in the video, Alexandra did 40 of these.
04:04 So I'm just gonna try to do 40 and see how it goes.
04:06 And you put a medicine ball here on my leg
04:09 and I throw this to you.
04:11 - It's a fun one.
04:11 You're gonna hold this,
04:13 you're gonna reach this overhead
04:14 and then sit up and throw it.
04:16 (upbeat music)
04:18 Let's step it up.
04:22 How many do you think you can do?
04:23 - I think I could do 40.
04:25 - You think you can do 40?
04:25 - I think I can do 40 in a row.
04:27 - 45. - All right.
04:28 - Someone's getting a cry. - 46, 47.
04:32 Oh, I fell, you're kidding me.
04:33 - You're done.
04:34 - Uh-huh, one more.
04:34 - You have to do 40.
04:36 - She actually did 47 in the video.
04:39 So I'll do a count on my actual video.
04:43 How many I did?
04:44 Okay, I don't know how I'm gonna do these.
04:46 Okay, so like I don't have these fancy little handle things.
04:50 So I don't know how I'm gonna do this one.
04:52 - Forward and then back.
04:54 And ideally you wanna get the legs up like a V.
04:56 - Okay, so the last thing I do
04:59 is like the ski machine thing,
05:01 which is more like a, I don't know, cardio warmup.
05:04 It's more of like a full body thing.
05:05 And Zach actually didn't like talk about it,
05:08 engaging your abs a whole lot.
05:09 So I'm just not gonna count that as an ab exercise.
05:12 So we're just gonna count all those things I did today.
05:14 But yeah, it was fun.
05:15 This is day one.
05:16 I guess I have six more days of this.
05:18 I'm not gonna film it like as in depth every day,
05:21 but I am gonna update like how I feel and everything.
05:23 Okay, so I am back at the gym for day two.
05:26 I'm not really sore today.
05:28 And I just realized that I don't go to the gym
05:31 seven days a week and I kind of need a gym
05:33 to do these exercises.
05:34 Maybe I can like figure out a way to do them at home,
05:37 like modify them 'cause I do have dumbbells at home.
05:39 I probably just need to like up my reps and sets of things.
05:42 I really doubt Zach Efron just does like 10 to 20 reps
05:45 of these and like has the abs that he does.
05:48 So maybe I'll up some reps.
05:51 We'll try that today.
05:52 I'm not gonna be able to film like a ton today,
05:53 but I'll just set up my camera
05:54 and hopefully no one will be in the little aerobics room.
05:58 Okay, so I'm gonna go do a little push workout
06:00 and then at the end of my workout, I'll do the abs.

06:20 Okay, so that was definitely harder than first time.
06:23 So I did three sets of everything
06:25 and by the second set of those abandoned hollow bodies,
06:29 my abs were dying.
06:31 So yeah, definitely much harder than last time.
06:33 Someone walked in in the middle of me filming one of them.
06:36 So I had to stop.
06:37 So we didn't get to include all of the clips.
06:40 But also I can say that those dead bugs,
06:42 if you are just starting out doing dead bugs,
06:44 which are a great ab exercise,
06:46 it's really helpful to put that band underneath you
06:47 because I've been doing them for a while
06:49 and I could feel my back coming off the ground
06:52 because you can tell like when the band is moving.
06:54 So honestly a really good trick.
06:56 But yeah, my abs are definitely hurting.
06:58 I'm definitely feeling like I got a little ab pump there.
07:01 I don't usually do abs seven days a week
07:03 because that's a lot.
07:04 So I feel like I'm definitely gonna be tired
07:06 by the end of this week.
07:08 Oh, that's cute.
07:09 Does anyone else's hair do this?
07:10 Because mine literally loves to just be really strange.
07:13 It is now day three.
07:15 I'm going to go do a pull workout.
07:18 So like a little back and thighs
07:19 and then going to do this at the end.
07:21 I'm curious if doing abs every day is good.
07:24 I know Stephanie Buttermore did a video
07:25 like doing abs every day for six months
07:27 and she got a six pack.
07:29 I already had some definition in my abs.
07:31 So I don't know,
07:32 but I know you need to give your muscles rest.

08:34 So second to last day.
08:36 Yesterday was my rest day.
08:37 I usually don't go to the gym on Saturdays.
08:39 Your body needs to rest.
08:40 Seven days is too much.
08:41 I was thinking about coming just to do the abs,
08:45 but I just really wasn't feeling it.
08:46 So I definitely had to modify to be at home.
08:48 Instead of a medicine ball, I used a weight.
08:51 I could still do the ones at the band.
08:53 I mean, it was still working my abs for sure,
08:55 but yeah, I really didn't want to come to the gym
08:58 this morning either, but I did it for the video guys.
09:00 Did it.
09:02 We're here because of Zac Efron.

09:04 So I'm about to do a push workout
09:07 and then throw in the little abs at the end.
09:10 I feel like the abs are getting easier every day.
09:12 I'm not feeling like the same soreness every day.
09:14 So I'm definitely getting used to it.
09:16 And I feel like the three sets
09:18 isn't as bad as it used to be.

09:25 Okay, so that was just round one.
09:38 And these abandoned hollow bodies
09:40 are getting far too difficult.
09:42 Like I cannot do three sets of them.
09:44 Literally by set two, I'm like,
09:46 can I just do eight please?
09:47 To be honest, yesterday,
09:48 like I don't remember if I finished them.
09:50 I think I was definitely struggling.
09:51 So I don't know why I said earlier
09:53 that they were getting easier
09:55 because those abandoned hollow bodies,
09:57 they're not getting any easier.
09:58 Let me tell you.
09:59 So it's day seven.
10:00 And let me tell you,
10:01 I'm excited to not train abs anymore.
10:04 I feel like I am seeing like a little more abs than usual,
10:08 but also like I'm doing abs every day
10:10 and I could just be getting like an ab pump every day.
10:13 So I'm gonna go do a little leg workout
10:16 and then I'm gonna do abs at the end.
10:18 And then we'll do like one last little check in.
10:20 You know, I don't think that it's reasonable
10:22 to expect a six pack in one week,
10:24 but I do think that doing abs every day,
10:26 like probably helps.
10:28 It might be a little too much.
10:29 I don't know.

10:33 We're done with seven days.
10:45 Do a final little ab check.
10:47 I don't know what I did the first time,
10:48 but like this is like relaxed.
10:51 And then kind of flex.
10:53 I don't really know how to flex my abs,
10:55 but do they look any different?
10:58 I don't know if there's supposed to be some kind of like
10:59 big transformation at the end of these videos,
11:01 but this is it.
11:03 I just finished the seventh day.
11:05 My abs are tired.
11:07 They're ready for a break.
11:08 I do feel like I'm seeing more abs at the end of this,
11:10 but I still feel like your muscles need to rest.
11:12 And I don't know if it's a good idea to do like abs
11:14 every day for like a week or a month.
11:17 Like you got to give your body a break.
11:18 As we can tell, I modified a lot of these exercises.
11:21 I really doubt that Zac Efron had a partner
11:23 every time he was trying to do his Baywatch abs.
11:25 I still feel like the exercises are very similar
11:27 and obviously working like the similar muscles.
11:29 I really liked incorporating the band
11:31 into some of these exercises.
11:32 I didn't love the Russian twist just cause I have a bad back
11:36 and I feel like twisting isn't like so good for it.
11:38 So like I wouldn't recommend that one.
11:40 This was definitely a difficult challenge.
11:42 Doing three sets was definitely the move, really killed me.
