00:00 I haven't got a haircut since I came into college, so it's been a minute.
00:05 >> Yeah, that was, it's been a minute.
00:07 Do you, I don't know, what was the reason for growing it out and just letting it go?
00:13 >> I've never really had long hair, so I figured I'd switch it up for
00:16 once in my life.
00:16 I've always had pretty short hair, so I decided to change it up for, you only live
00:21 once, why not have long hair once, but it's coming off sooner or later.
00:25 It's pretty long, it's annoying.
00:27 >> A ton of people grow their hair out in college, by the way.
00:29 >> Yeah, couldn't find a barber.
00:31 >> Mm-hm.
00:32 >> No barber came here.
00:33 >> Yeah, I'll clean it up sooner or later.
00:36 >> Obviously, when you're talking with them over there, I mean,
00:38 I heard the comment of you're just constantly smiling.
00:40 Is that kind of been something just, what's it like over the past two weeks to
00:44 be, you know, what's that kind of been like?
00:47 >> I mean, it's changed a lot, cuz not a lot of people knew who I was before.
00:52 I played against Mississippi State, and it's different for
00:55 sure because back home, I was from a small town, so everybody kinda knew who I was.
01:01 So it was cool coming here, nobody knew who I was, and
01:04 now people are starting to kinda notice me, you know?
01:08 >> What's it been like being alongside Greg Penn, and just learning from him?
01:12 >> I mean, it's helped me a lot because I was telling them down there that he was at
01:17 Will, so it was Omar and Mike, him at Will, and then Omar went down,
01:20 he moved to Mike, and I came at Will.
01:22 So he knows all the Will and the Mike, so during the Arkansas game,
01:26 sometimes I have to yell at him, Greg, Greg, what do I got, what do I got?
01:28 And he let me know, so he helped me out a lot, cuz without him,
01:31 I probably would have struggled a little bit.
01:34 >> Coach Kelly mentioned, I mean, even when you do make mistakes,
01:37 it's the athleticism and stuff like that.
01:39 I mean, I know it's probably something you're still continuing to work on, but
01:42 what's that like in the film room,
01:43 kind of going back and watching these basketball games?
01:45 >> It's fun, cuz it's fun to watch yourself on film and, you know,
01:50 these big SEC games, and I just, you know, I try to go 110% every single play,
01:55 cuz I know being a freshman in this system that I'm gonna mess up.
01:59 There's no way I can be perfect in this system, so
02:02 I know if I'm just going 110% every play, hopefully I can make up for
02:06 my mistakes sometimes.
02:07 >> You're playing with a lot of talented linebackers, but
02:10 you're also getting to play with your brother.
02:11 What's that kind of experience been like playing alongside with him,
02:14 practice games and everything?
02:15 >> Yeah, not many people get to play college football with their brothers, so
02:18 it's really the coolest thing we've ever done in our lives.
02:22 Going from Oconee, playing with each other was the best year of football we've ever
02:26 played, made the state championship, went 12 and 1, we lost in the state championship.
02:33 But we played some good football together, so now coming to LSU,
02:35 I mean, it's awesome.
02:36 And like I said, he's like a Greg Penn type dude too, so
02:40 if I'm out there with him, I'm like, what do I got, what do I got?
02:42 And he'll let me know.
02:43 >> What have you kind of learned from him, over your life and
02:45 kind of getting into the college game?
02:48 >> Over my life, probably- >> It's a broad question.
02:51 >> Yeah, how to be tough, cuz I mean, back when we were little,
02:54 we used to scrap it out pretty good.
02:56 And then we became best friends once we got in high school.
02:59 So back when we were real young, we hated each other, would fight all the time,
03:03 didn't really get along, would play video games, always end up in a fight.
03:06 And then once high school, we really became best friends, and he taught me.
03:10 Cuz he went through everything first, all the recruiting, all that stuff.
03:13 So he really kinda was able to guide me and be like, dude,
03:16 everybody's lying to you, just go where you wanna go.
03:20 None of it's true.
03:22 Just whatever, the first instinct you get, I wanna be there, go there.
03:26 So that's what I had with LSU, so that's why I'm here.
03:28 >> Yeah, well, why did you maybe feel that instinct?
03:31 >> I think the first visit I took here was in
03:36 March, maybe, March of my junior year.
03:44 And I remember they took me into that room, I don't even know what it's called.
03:49 It's like a theater, and there's like eight nice seats in there.
03:52 And they're playing the hype video, and it's loud, and there's a super big bass.
03:56 And I was like, holy smokes, playing in Death Valley would be the coolest thing
03:59 ever.
04:00 So then I was like, that's why I'm going.
04:03 I'm going for that experience right there,
04:04 cuz that's the best two hours of your life.
04:07 And then experiencing that in Death Valley last Saturday was just mind blowing.
04:11 I'm still just in shock of how awesome that was.
04:14 >> Making your first start on the road.
