00:00 get past the Disney blockade, smuggled it all the way to another galaxy, in fact, which
00:05 I am so excited for.
00:06 Like, dude, unless this is a Mando episode, we're about to see a brand new galaxy for
00:12 the very first time on screen.
00:13 Right?
00:14 Yeah.
00:15 We had to travel through the mouth of a kurgle.
00:17 I'm not going to say how we got out.
00:19 But I will say, I will say, this part six, the thumbnail that they have for Balon, like
00:25 that beard, that beard.
00:27 There's something about the blackness of his armor and then the darkness of the shoulder
00:32 pads and then just how bright white and just stoic and square.
00:37 It's a great look.
00:38 It's such an epic thumbnail.
00:41 Balon's skull is a "may he be a beard" role model to us all.
00:45 But yeah, so it goes without saying that the last two episodes really have been an absolute
00:51 hallmark when it comes to anything and everything Star Wars.
00:55 Fucking phenomenal, honestly.
00:56 It's been everything and anything that the fans could have asked of.
01:01 And the response that I've seen online from all walks of life of people has been nothing
01:06 but positive.
01:08 This show has really inspired and brought out a lot of the fan-giddiness out of people
01:15 again.
01:16 100%.
01:17 Myself, myself definitely included.
01:19 I feel like all of the Disney+ Star Wars shows so far have had a different mission statement,
01:25 like a different objective of what they're trying to bring to the audience.
01:29 Some of them really try to make you think and critically analyze.
01:31 And some of them, I feel like for Ahsoka, the main mission here is to entertain.
01:37 And to like, give you a story twist, give you a visual, give you something that makes
01:43 you say "wow".
01:45 And I feel like it's hit that mark so many times over.
01:48 That's really where my expectation is for this now, is that I'm not expecting to be
01:53 blown away in the ways that I was with other shows.
01:55 I'm expecting a different kind of experience from this.
01:57 And it's been delivering.
01:58 Like you said, the mysticism, the way it's really injecting that mysterious spirituality
02:04 back into the force.
02:05 And I think many Glorians have their place.
02:08 But broadening it a little bit and making it less definable terms I really think helps
02:12 you suspend disbelief and just be in there in the moment when you're hearing these Jedi
02:18 teachings.
02:19 Like, I try not to analyze them too closely.
02:22 Because then you start to ask questions based on logic.
02:25 And I feel like logic doesn't really have a place in a lot of this.
02:27 You know?
02:28 Well, it's a fantasy.
02:29 It's fantasy.
02:30 Yes, it is fantasy.
02:31 At the end of the day, they are still space wizards.
02:34 But I mean, when it comes to the Midi-Glorians thing, because that argument has been thrown
02:40 around a lot too.
02:41 And like, "Oh, how is Jason able to notice things, blah blah blah."
02:45 And it's like, I forget what interview it was.
02:49 Or if it was even Qui-Gon who said it in episode one.
02:51 But he said that Midi-Glorians are in everything.
02:54 It's only the level of percentage within a living, or an actual clock.
03:00 It's your count, right.
03:02 Yeah.
03:03 That makes it so that you can hear it.
03:05 It's like, everyone has the ability to be in tune with the energy field.
03:09 Just like when you walk into a room and you're like, "Oh man, somebody had an argument in
03:13 this room."
03:14 Or like, "Oh, you still feel vibes."
03:17 But it's just the level of how manipulative you are and can be with those vibes.
03:24 And just being in tune with just reading the non-verbal cues from everything around you.
03:30 I'm able to reconcile both philosophies together.
03:34 I think that, yes, the Force touches everything.
03:36 Therefore, Midi-Glorians are in everything.
03:40 And Force sensitivity just refers to a higher count of Midi-Glorians in your system.
03:44 However, applying that to the new philosophy that we've been given in this show, where
03:48 anyone could potentially practice and practice and train and learn Jedi skills, I think that
03:56 the more open-minded you are, the more open you are and receptive to the Midi-Glorians,
04:01 allows them to reproduce in you more.
04:04 And so that's why you have a higher count.
04:06 So it's a little bit of science, a little bit of spirituality.
04:09 It's like, yes, there are Midi-Glorians, but you have a higher M-count based on how open-minded
04:13 you actually are and receptive to the teachings.
04:16 That can happen, yeah.
04:17 There's an actual biological process that's happening there as you open yourself to the
04:22 Force.
04:23 That's fair.
04:24 That's the way I view it.
04:25 This is my headcanon.
04:26 Don't come after me.
04:27 This is just me spitballing, taking three different things and trying to wrap them into
04:31 one.
04:32 Yeah, right.
04:33 But when it comes to Sabine's training thing and everyone like, "Oh, can she use the Force?
04:36 Did she use the Force?"
04:39 We've seen Mandalorian.
04:41 She's just Sokka.
04:42 She's literally just Sokka.
04:45 Just because she's using a lightsaber, you can still be taught Jedi shit.
04:50 Absolutely.
04:51 Oh, God.
04:53 Would you consider Chirrut Imwe a Jedi?
04:56 Hold on, hold on.
04:58 Chirrut Imwe.
04:59 Chirrut Imwe.
05:00 Perfect example.
05:01 Perfect fucking example.
05:02 Would you consider Chirrut Imwe a Jedi?
05:04 No.
05:05 Or yes, but he's not Force-sensitive, but he's still a protector of the wills and still...
05:10 No, he's not a Jedi because he wasn't trained by Jedi.
05:14 He was just trained by Force cultists, essentially.
05:18 I would say yes, he's Force-sensitive.
05:20 He's just not religiously a Jedi.
05:23 But he's still...
05:24 What do you mean by religiously a Jedi?
05:27 Because he's not a Jedi payroll?
05:28 I mean, he wasn't raised in the Jedi religion, but he still is sensitive to the Force and
05:33 receptive to the Force, and it does enhance his abilities.
05:36 He just doesn't have telekinesis straight up.
05:38 Yeah, that's fair.
05:40 But he can dodge blaster bolts and shit.
05:42 That's very Jedi.
05:43 He can hear it.
05:44 He hears the shit.
05:45 He daredevils it.
05:46 He's fucking...
05:47 He's daredevil.
05:48 And because when you lose a sense, your other senses compensate to strengthen your awareness,
05:55 there's an argument you made that becoming blind strengthened his connection to the Force.
05:59 Yeah, 100%.
06:01 And one of the senses that was enhanced because of it was his attunement to the Force around
06:07 him.
06:08 But he's not necessarily directly Force sensitive.
06:11 Like that little kid that we saw in Revenge...
06:14 Or not Revenge of the Jedi.
06:16 Broom Boy from The Last Jedi.
06:18 Broom Boy, yeah.
06:19 Broom Boy.
06:20 Like, that's different.
06:21 We saw Broom Boy use full on telekinesis to like...
06:24 He used...
06:25 He pulled...
06:26 Yeah, he actually used a move.
06:27 Yes.
06:28 Yeah.
06:29 Whereas like Sabine, all she's doing is learning how to be balanced enough within herself to
06:31 learn how to use a fucking lightsaber.
06:33 We literally saw Jin-Jar and use the same thing.
06:36 We've seen Bo-Katan do the same thing.
06:38 Like it's not the first time we've seen non-Jedi use Jedi weapons.
06:41 No, not at all.
06:42 I think the point that's trying to be made here in this show is that like talent is not
06:47 as important as training and practice and skill.
06:51 And that's evidenced by the fact that yes, Broom Boy used telekinesis to move the broom,
06:55 but Chirrut Imwe would absolutely body him in a fight.
06:59 Oh yeah, 100%.
07:01 Like, oh 100%.
07:04 One-sided fights of history right here.
07:06 Yeah.
07:07 Broom Boy versus blind guy.
07:09 But now that you bring that up though, it'd be interesting to see Chirrut and a Mandalorian
07:13 in a fight though, you know?
07:15 Like would he be able to hear a grappling hook?
07:18 How would he deal with, you know, with...
07:20 I don't know man, the guy killed a TIE fighter with a bow and arrow, alright?
07:24 No, like...
07:25 And then the TIE fighter killed a turbo laser turret.
07:28 It was like a multi-kill with a fucking bow and arrow.
07:31 Yeah.
07:32 Well it was a bowcaster.
07:34 It was a large bowcaster.
07:35 Still.
07:36 Still.
07:37 What single projectile.
07:38 Like a dozen dead.
07:40 Yeah.
07:41 And then there's Thrawn, who can still use both fucking eyes, but he did it with a one-handed
07:46 pistol and like was able to dodge a TIE interceptor.
07:50 But this is Star Wars, right?
07:51 It's a lot of armor.
07:52 But still, but yeah.
07:54 It's a very real thing.
07:56 It's a real thing.
07:57 If you want seriousness, go back to Andor.
08:00 Exactly.
08:02 And that's kind of what I was trying to say, is that like there's a different objective
08:05 for each of these shows.
08:06 Some of these shows want you to really think about it and reframe it in a realistic context.
08:10 And some of these shows are like, "Look, what is the coolest thing we can do?"
08:13 You know?
08:14 Following the rule of cool.
08:15 And I think there's... both of those ideas are perfectly acceptable, you know?
08:19 Oh yeah.
08:20 I'll take all the different kinds of Star Wars, no matter what the genre is or what
08:23 the artistic intention is.
08:24 It's all fair game.
08:26 Moff Gideon's whole purpose was rule of cool.
08:29 His whole self-identity was, "I'm gonna steal..."
08:34 You know he was sitting in his room, like, gluing those spikes onto his Mando helmet,
08:38 being like, "I'm gonna be so fucking cool.
08:39 Everyone's gonna be so scared."
08:41 Yeah, exactly.
08:42 Exactly.
08:43 And then he ends up, like, fucking breaking the Darksaber in half.
08:47 He's like, "Mando's in there.
08:49 Trinket's kink."
08:50 So it's like...
08:51 "I'm strong.
08:52 If I can't have it, no one can."
08:53 Exactly.
08:54 Fucking...
08:55 Awesome.
08:56 Yeah, exactly.
08:57 Well, I don't think I can humanly wait any longer.
08:58 The episode is out.
09:00 There's a whole new Star Wars galaxy waiting for us.
09:03 We gotta do this.
09:04 Are you ready, best friend?
09:05 Let's do it.
09:06 We're just...
09:07 Yes.
09:08 We're just going there.
09:09 Okay.
09:10 Natural.
09:11 Beautiful.
09:12 Look how beautiful.
09:13 Yeah.
09:14 Oh, man.
09:15 They're just swimming.
09:16 They're just swimming.
09:17 I love how different their hyperspace looks, their traveling.
09:24 Oh, that's true, 'cause ours is, like, spirally and cloudy.
09:27 Theirs is just straight rainbow bridge.
09:30 History of the galaxy, parts one, two, and three.
09:34 One being the best, of course.
09:37 Is that a subtle reference to Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi film?
09:40 She went with the enemy willingly.
09:43 Impossible.
09:44 I saw it through the Force when I held the map.
09:48 Wow.
09:49 Well, you heard it through the Force.
09:50 I don't know if she knows about the whole getting choked out thing.
09:53 That was after she gave the map.
09:54 Right, but it's important context.
09:56 She's very much a prisoner here.
09:58 The Force provides you with insight.
10:01 The house for Sabine, it was the only choice.
10:05 That was great.
10:06 I love how Hu Yang absolutely bullies the daylights out of Sabine whenever she's around,
10:10 but when she's not here to defend herself, he absolutely sticks up for her, like he's
10:14 doing right now.
10:15 A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
10:22 Oh.
10:24 That was cool.
10:25 Speaking of which, I guess we're going to a galaxy far, far away right now.
10:29 Hey!
10:30 Nice.
10:31 That was well-timed.
10:32 We had a deal.
10:36 You promised me I would see Ezra again.
10:39 Hey!
10:40 Hey!
10:41 We had a deal!
10:45 Did you?
10:46 Bro, Baelin's such a dick.
10:48 He's such a good dick.
10:50 That's a quote.
10:53 Tracking complete.
10:55 We have arrived at our destination.
10:58 God, the dude's just so garbled.
11:00 Oh my god, here we go.
11:02 Here we go.
11:03 Oh, look at the lighting.
11:06 Oh my god.
11:09 See, like, I understand that she's related to the Dathomiri knight, which is quote unquote,
11:14 but I wish she just had a little bit more of their flavor, but she's not straight from
11:18 Dathomir, so I guess, so it makes sense.
11:20 It makes sense.
11:21 I just want to- Look at this.
11:22 That is Dridia, the ancient homeworld.
11:26 Our first planet in a new galaxy.
11:28 The Jedi archives.
11:29 Dathomir homeworld confirmed!
11:31 Bro.
11:32 My people were among the first to harness and ride the creatures.
11:36 That's so fucking cool, dude.
11:38 The whales came here to die.
11:39 The whales came here to die?
11:42 Like an elephant graveyard?
11:44 Oh, dude, the ring is made of whale bones?
11:49 This went real lion quake.
11:51 Yeah, that's fucking metal, dude.
11:53 It's totally like an elephant graveyard.
11:55 We are receiving a beacon signal from the planet's surface.
11:58 Let us not keep them waiting.
12:01 Are we going down there?
12:03 I have to know.
12:04 I have to know what's down there, man.
12:05 Is there still a population here?
12:08 Oh, that's an interesting shuttle design.
12:15 It's very angular.
12:16 I like how the wings came out.
12:18 What's your problem, Shin?
12:21 You just angry that she's kind of a better fighter than you?
12:25 Guys, it's the crazy eyes.
12:28 She was hired for her crazy eyes and she's going to do them all day long.
12:31 She's paranoid about...
12:32 Dude, oh, that's some Dathomir looking...
12:35 Okay, okay.
12:38 That was some Dathomir architecture on that sculpture for sure.
12:43 Dude, the long mouth.
12:47 I'm saying, what is this place?
12:54 Show me live action, Mother Talzin.
12:55 Let's go.
12:56 Dude, that looks like...
12:57 The fucking Minas Tirith?
12:58 Yeah.
12:59 Bro!
13:00 What?
13:01 Who?
13:02 Bro!
13:03 What?
13:04 Hold on.
13:05 Fucking Night Sisters?
13:06 What?
13:07 They look amazing.
13:18 Welcome, child of Dathomir.
13:29 You do our ancestors credit.
13:32 Thank you, Great Mother.
13:36 Your visions guided me across the stars.
13:39 Dude, these are the Witch Supremes.
13:42 Are you fucking kidding me?
13:44 It reeks of Jedi.
13:48 She's like, "Don't look at me."
13:53 It will wait in solitude.
13:57 Oh, damn.
13:59 God, he's so...
14:02 God, I can't... he's so cool.
14:07 Yeah, I mean, it really is the best words to describe him.
14:11 He's so uncomfortable there.
14:13 Nothing is going the way he has expected it to go.
14:15 When I was a bit older than you are now, I watched everything I knew burn.
14:21 The Jedi Temple?
14:22 From the Jedi, rise of the Empire.
14:32 It repeats again and again.
14:36 And isn't it our turn now?
14:41 I love it.
14:43 He's talking about the franchise.
14:44 There will always be more wars for more movies.
14:47 What I seek is the beginning, so I may finally bring this cycle to an end.
14:55 God, that's such a cool motivation.
14:57 He's such an interesting bad guy.
14:59 Even their relationship in their Master and Princess dynamic is so genuine.
15:07 You want to root for them, you know?
15:09 But you don't, but you do.
15:10 He obviously rescued her from somewhere, because they don't have a Sith relationship.
15:16 She very obviously doesn't seem like, "I'm just going to stab you in the back as soon as I can."
15:22 It seems like he nurtures her.
15:23 Wars versus the Sith are antagonistic to each other.
15:26 Yeah, she wants to help him get to whatever his goal is.
15:30 [Dramatic music]
15:33 Is it Thrawn?
15:34 Is he here?
15:35 [Dramatic music]
15:39 [Laughter]
15:43 Dude!
15:45 That shot.
15:47 Oh, it's repaired!
15:49 Look at all the chunks that have been taken out of it by the Pergil.
15:53 Oh, and there it is.
15:55 Oh, come on.
15:56 Chimera in all its glory.
15:58 Oh, come on.
15:59 Todd's just--oh, God.
16:00 Well done, sir.
16:02 Fucking well done, sir.
16:03 Mm.
16:04 First shot.
16:06 Oh, and they're just lowering onto it.
16:08 Man, Thrawn doesn't give a fuck anymore about how he drives this thing.
16:11 [Laughter]
16:14 I'm still getting over how amazing the Nightsisters look.
16:17 [Dramatic music]
16:21 Oh, my God.
16:22 Look at all this stuff.
16:23 Bro, bro, bro.
16:24 Come on!
16:25 Come on!
16:26 [Dramatic music]
16:30 Dude!
16:31 What?
16:32 What?
16:33 Ah!
16:34 What?
16:35 What?
16:36 [Dramatic music]
16:39 There he is.
16:41 Fucking welcome back.
16:43 The organ.
16:45 [Dramatic music]
16:49 Oh, my God.
16:51 He repaired their armor with kintsugi, like using gold to fill in the cracks and make it into art,
16:56 because of course he did, because he's fucking Thrawn.
16:59 That's so cool.
17:00 [Dramatic music]
17:02 [Laughter]
17:04 Let's hear the voice.
17:05 Just a dream has become a frightening reality for those who--
17:10 Yes!
17:12 He looks fantastic.
17:13 He looks fantastic.
17:15 [Dramatic music]
17:20 This is Enoch, captain of my guard.
17:22 Enoch?
17:23 Enoch is cool as hell.
17:25 [Dramatic music]
17:27 Oh, so he does have-- they did give him--
17:29 I brought the prisoner.
17:31 She could be of some use to us.
17:33 And you are?
17:34 Oh, yeah.
17:35 He doesn't know who they are.
17:36 Balen Skull and his apprentice, Shin'hati.
17:41 General Balen Skull.
17:43 We got a backstory.
17:44 Off the Jedi Order.
17:45 I parted ways with the Jedi long ago.
17:48 You would not be the first.
17:50 The prisoner is Sabine Wren.
17:53 He knows her.
17:54 Now there's a familiar name.
17:56 [Dramatic music]
18:01 Oh, my God, he's so fucking-- he's perfect.
18:04 He was perfect.
18:06 Thrawn is usually very stoic and hard to read.
18:09 And it's very hard to hide the fact that this actor is having
18:12 so much fun being back in live action.
18:14 I was dreaming the entire time.
18:16 Thrawn.
18:18 What a delight it is after so long to see a familiar face.
18:22 God, his eyes are incredible.
18:25 He looks so good.
18:27 You shall have provisions, a mount,
18:30 and our latest intel on Bridget's whereabouts.
18:33 Just like that?
18:34 You have my cause.
18:36 Now I shall help yours.
18:38 It's also quite possible that your friend--
18:40 She's going to have to hitch a ride home on the star wheels,
18:42 just like the Nightsisters of old.
18:45 If you survived, I'm sure he's doing just fine.
18:48 You've gambled the fate of your galaxy.
18:51 [Dramatic music]
18:55 On that belief.
18:56 You couldn't understand.
18:58 Perhaps not.
19:01 I'd rather not waste any more time.
19:03 What kind of ride you got around here?
19:05 That's actually a savage burn from Sabine,
19:07 because Thrawn absolutely prides himself
19:09 on being able to understand, you know?
19:11 The motivation's always--
19:13 It was really not him not to understand
19:15 why she would be willing to risk this.
19:18 Oh, cool, it's one of the wolf dog things that we saw outside.
19:24 Oh, he's cute.
19:25 He's cute in a really, like, ugly Muppet kind of way.
19:29 Be warned, nomads wander this wasteland--
19:32 God, he looks so cool.
19:34 --for survival.
19:36 Enoch.
19:37 He looks so fucking cool.
19:40 Yeah, strong Gladiator vibes.
19:42 Die well.
19:43 Die well, dude?
19:45 I can't believe they're giving her back all of her stuff.
19:47 Like, Thrawn is genuinely grateful.
19:49 But also he acknowledges they're leaving her here to die.
19:52 Yeah, like, think about where they are.
19:54 You may follow her at your own pace.
19:57 That's not our goal.
20:00 I thought you were to honor your agreement.
20:03 Sabine Wren will have the opportunity
20:05 of finding Ezra Bridger.
20:07 And if she does,
20:10 you and your master will destroy them both.
20:13 I was gonna say, what's the catch?
20:14 There's so obviously a catch here.
20:16 They're just using her as bait to flush Ezra out,
20:18 'cause clearly Thrawn's been looking for Ezra
20:20 for a while himself.
20:22 Dude, his organ.
20:23 The organ.
20:24 Yes, I know.
20:25 I love it.
20:27 Well, it's the Thrawn organ theme from Rebels, you know?
20:30 Oh!
20:39 Well, there goes the mount.
20:42 Oh, God!
20:43 Good thing she's got fucking Vesgar on.
20:45 Yeah, dude.
20:46 For real, yeah.
20:47 Oh, my God, come on, Sabine.
20:48 Shoot one of them.
20:49 There you go.
20:50 There you go.
20:52 Oh, God.
20:55 These bandits are sweet.
20:57 The bright red armor and all the cloth
20:59 has a very samurai vibe to it.
21:01 Like, what in the labyrinth-looking creatures are these?
21:04 They do have kind of like a labyrinth-darkness vibe.
21:07 Taser grapple hook! Taser grapple hook!
21:10 They're like kind of wearing samurai armor.
21:13 That's what I just said.
21:15 Oh, sorry. I was distracted.
21:17 They're like big versions of the guards
21:19 from the Goblin City, though.
21:20 I totally get what you're saying.
21:22 Oh, I've never seen one of those before.
21:25 Oh, in the face!
21:28 There we go.
21:30 Yeah, he runs away.
21:36 [laughs]
21:38 Oh, look at them go.
21:40 What an insane visual.
21:44 Just the ship looming up there.
21:47 I'm so upset about the passing of Ray Stevenson.
21:51 Man, like, I want so much more from this character.
21:53 Like, it's such a tragedy.
21:55 Damn, just shut down. [laughs]
22:08 Wow. He doesn't give a fuck about any of them.
22:20 That was a great shot.
22:21 That was a callback to the Dark Empire comic.
22:23 He just wants to leave.
22:25 Sorry, heir to the Empire comic.
22:27 Yeah, I-- he's like, "I'm sorry, I was scared."
22:36 And he came back, right? [laughs]
22:39 Oh, don't send him away.
22:45 Why are you trying to send it away?
22:47 I know! He's coming back to help.
22:50 And he's gonna follow again.
22:52 Yeah, 'cause he's a fucking puppy.
22:54 He's a good boy.
22:56 There's good boys in every galaxy.
22:58 I didn't want to be alone.
23:00 Poor ugly cute puppet man.
23:03 He's very cute.
23:08 I think that's what makes him cute, is that he's so ugly.
23:16 You got something?
23:18 I mean, Ezra is, like, the Radagast of the Jedi,
23:21 so, like, if anyone should find--
23:23 Meeting with animals?
23:24 Yeah.
23:25 Do you think we're gonna find Ezra?
23:27 This episode?
23:29 Yeah. Do you think we're gonna find him, like, right now?
23:31 I mean, they very easily could just, like, show us his hut.
23:34 They very easily could do--
23:36 I don't think he's on the planet anymore.
23:38 I think we're gonna find the clue that takes us to the next place, etc.
23:41 It's gonna be a little--
23:42 We're not gonna find him until the end of the season, I bet.
23:45 That's not a rock. It's an armadillo.
23:51 Yeah, there's something about that rock.
23:54 Oh! What?
23:56 Little puppet man?
24:00 What in the Jim Henson is this?
24:05 Oh, my God. Is that a waistcoat on?
24:09 He has a little fucking waistcoat on!
24:11 He's like a little hobbit man.
24:13 Hobbit lobster ninja turtle.
24:15 I love it. That's a practical puppet.
24:21 Recognize this? What?
24:26 Ooh, if he knows that symbol, that means he's probably seen Ezra.
24:31 Wait, he's a real--
24:34 What?
24:35 Oh, Ezra fully gave him that.
24:38 [Ezra]
24:40 Oh, my God.
24:44 I'm sorry, what in the Fraggle Rock?
24:46 How many of them are there?
24:48 And what were they doing just hiding under the--
24:50 Like, hiding on the ground?
24:51 Do you know Ezra Bridger? He's my friend.
24:54 You know that word?
24:58 No, you're not gonna eat the hermit crab, man.
25:01 I know, he's like, "When do I get to eat one?"
25:05 Fascinating. Okay, so these little Fraggle Rock people know Ezra,
25:08 and they all have rebellion symbol necklaces?
25:11 It's like it's so Star Wars without still not being Star Wars.
25:15 Well, you were saying labyrinth earlier.
25:17 I think these creatures feel so Dark Crystal to me.
25:20 Yeah.
25:21 Comes from a breed of Bokken Jedi, trained in the wild after the Temple fell.
25:25 Bokken Jedi?
25:26 Did he just say Bokken Jedi?
25:28 Yeah.
25:29 That's so cool.
25:30 It was Bokken Jedi, I mean, I wonder.
25:31 He was trained as a Jedi.
25:33 You.
25:34 I trained as something more. That's cool.
25:37 I like how much they're dancing around the definitions of what to call these two.
25:40 Dude, he's what Qui-Gon would have fucking been.
25:46 I think he's a Dark, a Dark side of what Qui-Gon could have been.
25:55 I see what once was the great witch kingdom of the Dathmeri.
25:59 The existence of the Great Mothers confirms this.
26:02 Perhaps they flee a power greater than their own.
26:07 Can't you see it?
26:09 I see bandits.
26:11 I think I guessed.
26:15 Absolutely wrecked them.
26:17 The enemy of our enemy is our friend.
26:19 Oh, okay. That's true.
26:21 Balin's really good at turning people.
26:24 Yeah, so much samurai vibes from these bandits, dude.
26:26 He knows how to be a diplomat.
26:28 Yeah, dude, they have like hatchets.
26:30 So was Ezra like a...
26:41 Is he here?
26:42 They're so roly-poly.
26:44 You know what I bet it is? I bet there's like a statue of him.
26:46 And that's why they all know who Ezra Bridger is, but he's not actually here or something, you know?
26:53 That is...
26:54 Little baby.
26:56 Kinda ugly, kinda cute.
26:58 He's cute.
26:59 And kinda ugly.
27:00 Might get eaten.
27:01 So is Ezra Bridger like a trailer park supervisor?
27:06 Oh my god.
27:07 This is like he hangs out here with these guys?
27:10 Wow!
27:16 Come on! Come on!
27:21 Come on!
27:22 Come on.
27:28 Oh, he looks great.
27:30 He looks like Jesus.
27:33 He does. He's got a little bit of a space Jesus.
27:36 Oh my god.
27:38 It's Ezra!
27:42 He looks really... He looks good.
27:44 He definitely has an Ezra of Nazareth thing going on, for sure.
27:49 Ezra of Nazareth.
27:51 We finally found him, dude!
28:03 After like nine years, ten years? Jesus.
28:15 Come on, girl. That's kinda pressing. Tell him.
28:18 You hear that? He said, "Bring out the booze."
28:25 Break out the good stuff.
28:27 Oh, they're nomadic.
28:29 They're packing up to leave.
28:31 Dude, his eyes are fucking...
28:33 I love that he's got the two scars right here from season four.
28:37 You're not going home, bro.
28:40 Well, you might... Well, I don't know.
28:42 I don't know who's going home right now.
28:44 If anyone can communicate with the star whales and get them to take them home, it would be Ezra.
28:48 That's true. We could just hop into the...
28:50 Which begs the question of why hasn't he done that yet?
28:52 So, maybe there's a snag.
28:54 They call the star whales the Travelers.
29:13 Ha!
29:14 Damn.
29:16 Called out.
29:17 No.
29:23 It's gonna be a hard fight, man.
29:25 His senses are all honed.
29:27 Top of his game.
29:28 Shoot it.
29:33 Damn.
29:35 No! Don't hurt the star whales! Goddammit.
29:39 You once again require the aid...
29:41 ...of your dark legend.
29:45 The thread of destiny demands it, Grand Admiral.
29:49 Yes! Yes! Yes!
29:52 Give it to me!
29:53 Fucking give it to me!
29:55 Can't believe this, man.
29:56 Yes! Yes!
29:58 Throne is back! Ezra's back!
30:04 All the dark...
30:05 Fucking give it...
30:07 Yes, you did an amazing job.
30:09 Fucking zombie night sister witches, let's fucking go!
30:13 The fucking... the Kintsugi troopers?
30:16 With the little gold and the red and just...
30:18 Oh, man.
30:19 I need to know everything about Enoch that I can get my hands on.
30:23 With his epic, like, gladiator-looking faceplate.
30:27 Black Series figure needs to be pre-ordered.
30:30 Black Series helmet.
30:31 Like, that was so intricate.
30:33 We've never seen...
30:34 That was fantastic.
30:35 Oh, my God.
30:36 That was absolutely fantastic.
30:37 I'm reeling from this.
30:39 I'm going to have to re-watch it a couple times.
30:41 I thought the night sisters, the mothers, looked so cool.
30:45 They haven't really changed the design in all the thousands of years
30:50 since they migrated from this galaxy back to the original one.
30:53 You know?
30:54 They have such a three-faced thing.
30:56 Oh, my God.
30:57 The fact that we got to hear the reverberating, like, dark, like, magic echo voice, like...
31:01 The voice was, like, the coolest part of it.
31:03 And speaking of the voices and the sound design in general,
31:06 in the last episode, I was talking about the sound design,
31:08 and I definitely misspoke and said Matt Wood when I meant to say Ben Burt.
31:12 So, if everything I was saying didn't make any sense, that's why.
31:17 Because there's the wrong composer.
31:19 Seeing the Chimera pull up on the tower like that, dude, and then lower down.
31:25 Dude!
31:26 That was awesome.
31:29 We've traveled to a galaxy far, far away, to a planet with a ring made of dead space whale bones.
31:35 And there's, like, night sisters here.
31:39 And fucking Ezra Bridger is here!
31:41 Like, oh, my God!
31:43 I don't think it's fully sunk into me yet that, like, we found him.
31:47 We found him, dude!
31:48 Well, after, so, like, after, like, what, ten...
31:51 Again, so, after he's been missing for, like, ten years-ish?
31:54 Yeah, because the entire...
31:55 Yeah, just about a decade, yeah.
31:57 The entirety of the original trilogy, because...
32:01 And then the following couple years were the first Mandoverse stuff played out, yeah.
32:06 Yeah, because him and Teenage Leia interacted a couple times in Rebels, so it's like...
32:12 Yeah, getting everyone's ages are just so...
32:15 That was fantastic.
32:18 Willy-wonky, but, oh, my God.
32:20 The costume designing, the way that everything looked.
32:24 The creepy, weird, little hobbit hermit crab people, like, brilliant.
32:28 Fucking brilliant.
32:29 Yeah, they were great.
32:30 They were great.
32:31 Very Jim Henson feeling, very, like, Dark Crystal, the labyrinth character.
32:34 Which I think kind of was a really great call,
32:38 because this is supposed to be a completely different reach of the galaxy, right?
32:43 But it's still supposed to be within the realm of Star Wars.
32:46 And Jim Henson and Lucasfilm's, like, and Steven Spielberg,
32:50 all three of them have just been, like, the biggest of friends.
32:53 So it would make sense that, like, all right,
32:55 so what kind of an idea visually can we do for Star Wars?
32:59 Oh, let's just use one of the other multiverses that we've already created
33:04 and just take little bits and pieces of those things and put them together.
33:07 Like...
33:09 And then, but still give them blasters and it'll be okay.
33:12 Like, yeah.
33:13 No, it's really, really cool getting the flesh out beyond the galaxy
33:21 and seeing more, more things.
33:24 And, like, things that are familiar from the galaxy.
33:26 I say our galaxy, but I mean the Star Wars galaxy, the main Star Wars galaxy.
33:30 But, like, knowing that Nightsisters were originally part of this other galaxy
33:33 and they, like, migrated here with the Travelers, as they call them.
33:37 With the Rails, yeah.
33:38 Like, that's some awesome lore, like, that we didn't know about before.
33:41 It was very silly, but I enjoyed Hu Yang starting off his story
33:45 with "A Long Time Ago" in a galaxy far, far away.
33:47 That was pretty sweet.
33:48 It was very fitting.
33:49 It was very fitting because, again, it kind of rings to the...
33:55 I mean, is it canon or is it actually fact that, like,
33:58 every movie intro is R2-D2 telling it to the Wills?
34:03 Like, "And that's why R2-D2..."
34:05 That was the first draft.
34:07 That was the first draft, yeah.
34:08 The first draft established that, and it hasn't been established in canon since.
34:11 But, unless otherwise confirmed, there isn't really anything
34:15 that directly contradicts that.
34:17 Yeah, so it could just be a reference to...
34:20 Totally, totally.
34:21 It's a thing from canon that has not yet been contradicted or replaced.
34:26 I want to know what Balin meant when he said "Bokken Jedi."
34:31 Or, sorry, what Thrawn meant when he said "Bokken Jedi."
34:33 No, it was Balin.
34:35 It was Balin. Right, right, right.
34:36 There's a group of Bokken Jedi that were trained and created
34:40 after the fall of the Temple.
34:42 I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
34:43 Because a Bokken is a wooden training sword in Kendo, right?
34:48 Yeah.
34:49 And Kendo definitely informs the saber fighting that we're seeing here.
34:54 It's heavily used in Kurosawa films.
34:56 So I think it's just another Kurosawa reference.
34:59 But I want to know what "Bokken Jedi" could mean in this context.
35:02 It's like "training sword Jedi"?
35:04 I think so, yeah.
35:05 Because anyone at the Temple, right?
35:07 Anyone at the Temple or anyone who is traditionally trained
35:09 was given a Padawan saber, which is still technically a lightsaber.
35:12 So they were never given wooden practice swords in any...
35:16 Well, we've seen Bokken already in the show.
35:18 Sabine and Ahsoka were using Bokken in that first episode.
35:21 Hence why that reference of "Bokken Jedi" could be there.
35:24 Because you're not good enough to have a Padawan.
35:27 You weren't in the graces of the Temple to be given practice sabers.
35:33 Therefore, you needed to practice with sticks.
35:36 It's like saying, "Oh, yeah, they were a bunch of training wheels Jedi."
35:39 Yeah.
35:40 I see. He meant it as a dig, then. Okay.
35:44 Of like, "They're not real Jedi," or "They're non-Temple Jedi."
35:48 Sort of a dig.
35:49 Right. Right.
35:50 Or, yeah, kind of the idea of like...
35:53 Yeah, like, "You weren't trained traditionally, so you're only a Jedi by name."
36:01 "I went to an actual academy, so fuck you."
36:04 Right, it's like, "I'm classically trained. You're homeschooled.
36:07 We're not the same kind of Jedi."
36:09 That's what it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
36:10 Totally. Totally.
36:11 I get that. I get that. It's still a bit snobby to say.
36:14 It's super snobby.
36:15 Super snobby. Whatever. Whatever.
36:17 Balin went through what he went through,
36:19 and he gets to throw some shade at the Jedi that learned from ghosts in a cave.
36:23 Because it's a different experience.
36:24 He went to university, goddammit.
36:26 And told the university to go fuck itself.
36:29 Yeah, and then he dropped out, and then the university burned down.
36:32 And now he's the only person left with a master's degree in the galaxy.
36:35 And he's like, "Fuck you and your online college. It's not the same thing."
36:38 Yeah.
36:39 "But I'm going to teach you what I know, and I'm going to teach you to be better."
36:42 Yeah, and then I super liked and appreciated how he's like,
36:45 "I'm going to train you to be better.
36:47 You're not a Jedi, and don't let anyone call you a Jedi."
36:50 You're going to be something more.
36:51 Yeah.
36:52 I love that.
36:53 I love that they're not pinning down what they are.
36:57 They're just sort of defining what they are more than,
37:00 and what they are no longer.
37:01 And I like that.
37:02 Keep the guessing game going.
37:04 I'm hoping that there's some more twists coming.
37:06 He kind of laid out his motivations for us in this episode
37:09 with a fantastic monologue, by the way.
37:11 It was really well acted.
37:13 Every time he shows up, he steals the scene.
37:16 And every time he steals the scene, it twists the knife just a little bit more.
37:19 They're like, "We won't be getting any more art from this man."
37:22 It's an absolute tragedy.
37:24 It's true.
37:25 It's an absolute tragedy.
37:26 I'm getting nervous that he's not going to die this season,
37:28 which is going to make a whole other problem, you know?
37:31 Yeah.
37:32 Almost everything he says, almost every sentence sounds like a song lyric,
37:37 or could be a song lyric.
37:39 Like, "We're on the planet of the mother witches."
37:43 It's like, bro, you're going to be swallowed by the void.
37:46 Like, fucking tell me about it.
37:48 100%.
37:49 He's like, "We are approaching the dead whales.
37:51 This is a place where the whales go to die."
37:54 Like, you're dead.
37:56 Shit.
37:57 Like, fucking tell me all about it.
37:59 Let's go.
38:01 No, it's amazing.
38:02 I-- man, I can't--
38:04 I'm having trouble formulating my thoughts,
38:06 because I'm still reeling from how much nonstop payoff we just got.
38:10 Dude, this whole series is going to be so incredibly binge-worthy,
38:14 and it's just--
38:15 I can't wait.
38:16 Yeah, like, Mando season 3 is the--
38:18 is like the metaphor of--
38:20 or not the metaphor, but like, would be an analogy of, like,
38:23 the Sword in the Stone, very, like, King Arthur, medieval knight
38:26 sort of, like, storyline.
38:28 Like, this is just, like, so just Lord of the Rings.
38:32 This is so--
38:33 Yeah, high fantasy.
38:34 It feels like high fantasy in a sci-fi setting.
38:36 Oh, God, like, some of those shots--
38:37 Which is what Star Wars feels like when it's at its best.
38:39 Oh, my God.
38:40 It's kind of the fabric, the fabric scenes of seeing the Mother Witches
38:42 on the obelisk before we even--
38:44 or, like, Sabine's--
38:45 That shot was incredible.
38:46 --Queen's prison-- her prison cell.
38:48 Like, some of those shots look straight out of Dune, you know?
38:51 Or, like--
38:52 I was thinking Dune, too, heavy on the, like, mysticism in space,
38:56 lots of robes, lots of solemn, long wide shots, big scales.
39:00 It's the solemn wide shots.
39:02 I think that's what it is.
39:03 It's like there's certain--
39:04 And a lot of flowing fabric, a lot of dark flowing fabric
39:06 in big, wide open spaces.
39:08 That's a Dune thing, too.
39:09 Yeah, and there--
39:10 This was fantastic.
39:12 I'm going to re-watch it, like, I think three more times, at least,
39:15 before I go to bed tonight.
39:16 [LAUGHS]
39:18 We only have two episodes left, and there's a lot that can happen
39:22 and could happen.
39:24 As always and anyways, we are 100% for the SAG AfterStrike.
39:28 So if we do want to see more Ahsoka, if you do want to see Andor Season 2,
39:33 remember just to be supportive of local writers, artists, and creators,
39:38 with the lighting department, with prop makers, everyone and all of them.
39:42 So--
39:43 [INAUDIBLE]
39:47 Yeah, so it's like you can message Disney, you can message Netflix,
39:51 you can message Amazon.
39:53 Like, yeah, it may go into some larger email field,
39:58 but with enough people just spamming the shit out of them and complaining,
40:02 that's the whole point of striking, is to change these agreements,
40:07 change what people are able and how people are able to make.
40:11 The landscape has changed, and the legal language needs to change
40:15 along with it and be updated for the times.
40:17 And we live in an era where streaming is the primary and predominant way
40:22 that people engage with media now, and it needs to be reflected
40:26 in the way residuals are paid out.
40:28 It needs to be job security, it needs to be protection from AI,
40:31 all kinds of different things that both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA
40:36 are working towards and fighting for right now.
40:38 And if it wasn't for the labor of the people in these unions,
40:42 we would not have shows like Ahsoka to enjoy.
40:46 And it's very important to support the people, the source of the art.
40:51 The artists need support.
40:54 The studios and the CEOs, their bottom line is not even the issue.
40:58 They make so much money, and they're being asked to part
41:01 with such a small fraction of it, and then it's a win-win for everybody,
41:05 but they can't even see their way clear to that.
41:08 It's a mess. It's a mess.
41:10 But yes, thank you for bringing that up.
41:12 As you said, we will stand firmly in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA and WGA.
41:17 Thanks for watching, everybody.
41:18 I hope you enjoyed our reaction to Ahsoka Part 6.

41:47 How do you think this whole thing is going to shake out?
41:49 We'd love to hear from you.
41:51 Hmm?
41:52 I said we only have two more episodes.
41:54 Yeah, exactly.
41:55 So we're running out of time here.
41:57 Are we going to get a satisfying conclusion?
41:59 Is it going to be a big old cliffhanger?
42:01 These are questions we're going to get the answers to pretty damn soon.
42:04 And I'm going to be sad when this show's over, man.
42:06 I've really been enjoying watching Ahsoka every week.
42:09 This one's been particularly fun.
42:11 It's true.
42:12 I am super excited because of all the costumes as well, my final thought.
42:17 Seeing future cosplayers is going to be incredible.
42:21 Seeing all the aliens, all the glupshidos,
42:24 and I hope to see covens of Dathomiri Night Witches at our next show.
42:29 I want to see a lot of Night Sisters.
42:30 I want to see some Kintsugi Troopers too, please.
42:33 Like, I'm about to go break one of my helmets and repair it with gold,
42:36 and it's going to look so good.
42:38 Full custom armor, wrap yourself with some dark red.
42:43 Legit, why not? Why not?
42:45 It's such a cool, easy way to modify a helmet.
42:47 Like, it's brilliant.
42:48 And the fact that it's like an art form,
42:50 and that Thrawn, of all people, would take these broken armor and turn it into art.
42:55 Like, it's so on-brand for him.
42:57 I love it. I love it.
42:59 No, fantastic so far.
43:01 The next episode can't get here soon enough, but we're signing off.
43:04 Thank you so much for watching, everybody.
