00:00 was just talking about the fourth down play.
00:03 You were, I think, on the opposite end, correct?
00:06 Kind of take us through with what you saw.
00:09 And then he was talking about how Stan Kwan has just keeps getting better and
00:13 better.
00:13 And that was a good play to kind of show he did what he was supposed to do and
00:17 help make that play.
00:18 So that was two part.
00:19 What did you see on that and then how much did Stan Kwan get better?
00:23 >> On that play right there, see me kind of moving around a little bit.
00:28 And then right before the snap, I kind of get lined up, go right there.
00:31 So from my perspective, all I saw was, I think it was detail,
00:34 blow up the guard, wide ass gap.
00:36 And now I tried to get over like two people and then hit the ball.
00:39 But TJ quick hit my side, hit him.
00:42 But as far as Stan Kwan goes, since Stan Kwan got here in the spring,
00:45 he'd been developing real fast and stuff, been a great teammate.
00:47 Been a great young guy to be around.
00:50 He learned the system real fast.
00:51 And with Coach Ike coaching him up and with English system,
00:55 I think he'll be just fine.
00:56 >> Okay, yeah, you guys are 3-0, favorite to beat Boston College.
01:02 Does Coach Braun have to keep you focused on what's ahead or
01:06 do you guys police yourselves in terms of not getting,
01:10 looking too far down the road?
01:12 >> Yeah, I mean for us, especially in our group, it's always one game at a time.
01:19 We enjoy a win for 24 hours and then we're on to Boston College who took
01:23 a really, really good Florida State team right down to the wire.
01:26 So that grabs everyone's attention real fast, especially in the locker room.
01:30 We have a good group of leaders who kind of take control of the team and say,
01:34 hey, it's a one game season like Coach Braun has been saying for
01:38 this whole season and to me for years.
01:40 So it's not too hard for us to be focused and
01:44 to see that this is a really good Boston College team, especially defensively.
01:50 >> Yeah, just picking up what he said, yeah,
01:52 Coach Braun reminds us it's a one game season.
01:55 Always keep focused on what's ahead, put the past behind us and just like that.
01:59 Cuz this team did start off a little struggling in the first two games, but
02:02 they did give Florida State a run for their money.
02:04 So I said it's a one game season, so we gotta take every team.
02:08 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:10 I'm gonna mess up a little bit, but yeah, you gotta take each team.
02:14 They're gonna play their best every week.
02:17 >> Eric, when you transfer schools but to play for the same coach,
02:21 does it sort of seem like just the same old thing or is there still a lot of adjustment?
02:24 >> Yeah, I mean, some of it's obviously similar.
02:27 A lot of the same offensive schemes and stuff like that, but
02:31 there's different things, different nuances that we've installed down here.
02:35 But it's kind of, you fall into similar routines.
02:39 Obviously, I know most of the people in this building, I've known them for
02:42 a long time, so it's been great.
02:45 And some of it's the same, but
02:47 obviously a little bit different in some aspects as well.
02:50 >> Over here, what have you guys learned about this team,
02:55 given the times that you weren't necessarily playing your best and
02:58 hitting on all cylinders, like after the second quarter against Georgia Tech in
03:03 the second half on Saturday?
03:05 >> Yeah, I think we learned that this is a really tough group.
03:08 Obviously, we wanted to still put together four really good quarters as a team.
03:12 And obviously, I don't think we've done that yet, so
03:14 we're still striving to get to that.
03:16 But I think it's been a mentally tough team that we've learned through three
03:20 weeks, and when one side of the ball is having a wall, the other kind of picks
03:24 them up, so it's great to have.
03:26 And to get all three phases kind of playing together is the goal now.
03:30 So we gotta just start that practice and
03:33 put together a really good week of practice.
03:35 And then bring that on Saturday and
03:38 try and put together a full four quarters, 60 minutes.
03:41 >> Yeah, this team is very resilient.
03:43 Even through adversity, we all stay together, we always come back together.
03:49 And we always feeding off each other, even when one side of the ball is down,
03:53 we're picking up on each other on the other side of the ball.
03:55 So I think we still striving to play four great quarters.
03:59 But right now, we're working towards it,
04:01 like you talked about having a great week of practice, preparing for
04:04 the team this weekend.
04:06 So I think we still got a long way to go.
04:09 >> Yeah, you guys kind of touched upon it before with the Florida State game.
04:12 It seemed like at the end there,
04:13 BC kind of just beat themselves on penalties.
04:14 But what stood out to you about what they were doing right in that one?
04:18 And what's it gonna be like playing against a team that no doubt is gonna be
04:21 working on cleaning things up?
04:22 And we'll probably come into this game pretty jacked up too.
04:24 >> Yeah, absolutely, they definitely had a shot there at the end.
04:27 Defensively, they're gonna give us a challenge up front.
04:31 They're gonna move a lot in the interior.
04:33 They're gonna try and heat us up, do a couple different things on third downs,
04:36 some things that we've gotta be prepared for.
04:38 And we've gotta clean some things up from last week, especially up front.
04:41 So we're excited for the challenge and really looking to dive into it and
04:46 get in the game plan and continue to work towards it.
04:49 But yeah, they're definitely gonna be a great challenge, especially for
04:53 us up front.
04:54 >> Yeah, they definitely did give Florida State a run for their money.
04:57 But I think offensively, they have a good quarterback.
05:02 They have a good couple plays coming through.
05:05 So I think learning the game plan throughout the week and
05:08 preparing for them appropriately could be the best for us.
05:10 >> Eric, you've had three games now where you've blocked for Jawar.
05:15 I guess, what's the most impressive, or
05:17 what have you seen that's impressed you about him and just kind of what he's been
05:20 able to do?
05:21 >> Yeah, Jaws is great.
05:22 Obviously, he makes our job a little bit easier up front.
05:25 Really, the whole running back room, that whole group,
05:27 makes it a lot easier for us.
05:29 But Jaws specifically, he runs hard, he has great vision.
05:33 And he's always gonna try and make us right up front,
05:35 because not everything's gonna be perfect.
05:37 Obviously, we wanna try and get everyone covered up.
05:40 But there's sometimes gonna be free hitters in the hole, and
05:43 he seems to make a mess a whole lot more than he doesn't.
05:45 So it's fun to block for that whole group.
05:49 Isaac as well, the whole running back room.
05:51 Coach Barkley does a great job coaching those guys up.
05:53 And we have to work as a tandem, all five of us and whoever's in the backfield.
05:58 So the three games, they've done a great job.
06:01 And it's been fun to see them have success.
06:03 >> Eric, the first game and then the other day,
06:07 I think kind of the way the game went, I think you guys played almost,
06:10 if not every snap, really close to it.
06:12 Is that something, as a player, you probably don't mind, being out there every
06:16 snap, but do you like to get a little rest here and there?
06:18 Coach Brown said he wants to try to get more guys in there.
06:21 >> Yeah, we definitely have the personnel to do that.
06:23 We have a really deep room, a veteran room.
06:25 A lot of guys who've played a lot of football.
06:28 So that's kind of the way the game went.
06:31 So if we can get more guys in there, absolutely.
06:34 We definitely have the guys to do it.
06:36 We know the system, JP, Austin, Josh Black, Trey,
06:40 guys who are definitely capable.
06:43 So to get more guys in the game would be great.
06:46 To get a little break, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, like you said,
06:50 but don't mind playing, whatever's asked.
06:53 So whatever the task at hand is, whoever's called upon,
06:57 everyone's ready at any given time.
06:58 So we'll see how it plays out on Saturday.
07:02 >> Okay, question for you.
07:02 As you mentioned, BC's got a pretty good quarterback.
07:04 He can damage you through the area with his legs.
07:07 When you have a guy that's a dual threat so much like that,
07:10 how challenging is it for you guys to stay disciplined to these times?
07:13 >> It's very challenging, cuz you can't play too much man, and
07:18 then he gets up right away, and then you go on running.
07:21 I think for us, coming up with a good scheme around him, and
07:27 coming up with a scheme around the other threats throughout the offense,
07:30 it's gonna be big for us.
07:31 Staying within our keys and running to the football like we do.
07:34 Running to the football is gonna be a big key for us, I think.
07:38 >> Eric, you mentioned having to clean some things up front, but
07:41 outside of a couple quarters,
07:42 the offensive line has largely had a dominant start to the season.
07:46 How much confidence does that give you guys up front,
07:47 knowing you guys have had the success in that position group so
07:51 far to start the season?
07:52 >> Yeah, it's been good to have a pretty decent start to the year.
07:55 Coach Owens, Coach Fish, Coach Williams do a great job getting us prepared every
07:59 week.
08:00 And like I mentioned before, it kinda starts in practice, and
08:03 we gotta clean some things up, obviously.
08:06 The second half didn't go the way we really wanted it to up front, but
08:09 I think for a group of guys that really just came together in the beginning of
08:14 June, all of us getting together, we have a lot of camaraderie.
08:18 A lot of guys who have played a lot of football, like I've said, but
08:23 a lot of guys who wanna see this team have success, and
08:26 it's not necessarily about individuals.
08:28 So we understand that, and wanna keep putting our best foot forward and
08:33 continue to improve every single week.
08:35 >> Anybody else?
08:37 All right, time's up.
08:39 >> Cool, thank you.
08:39 >> Thanks, guys.
08:40 (door opening)
