00:00 second 100 yard receiving day for you this season.
00:04 What was kind of working for you today?
00:06 >> Yeah, I feel like I started off slow.
00:08 I dropped that one pass in the openers.
00:10 And then I was just kind of just blowing with it,
00:13 blowing with the game a little bit.
00:15 And I just came up whenever my number was called.
00:18 And I made plays, that's all it is.
00:20 Jackson trusts me enough to put the ball in the air whenever we need a big time
00:25 play and did that and did that.
00:29 >> Lang was just in here commending Q's grit,
00:31 despite not practicing as much as we've been hurt and all that.
00:35 Do you have any doubt in your mind that he would play today and get 13 carries?
00:38 >> Yeah, no doubt.
00:40 Q's a warrior, he's a tough guy.
00:42 He's a tough kid, really.
00:43 And he wants to be out there with his guys.
00:46 And we're our best whenever he's on the field, obviously.
00:49 And it was really good to see him go through the week that he had and
00:53 then come out on Saturday and be ready to go for us and put it on the line.
00:58 >> You've talked some about your chemistry with Jackson.
01:02 Obviously, you had that scoring connection late in the game.
01:04 But what can you say about his grit?
01:06 I mean, 136 yards on the ground, 14 rushes today.
01:09 What can you say about the physicality he brings to the game?
01:12 >> Yeah, Jackson's really tough.
01:14 He's not tougher than me, but he's just- >> [LAUGH]
01:18 >> We go back and forth on that.
01:20 But he's a heck of a ball player.
01:22 And he just wants to win.
01:24 And that's awesome to see, especially having your quarterback.
01:28 He'll put it all out there on the line for you,
01:30 no matter what the circumstances.
01:32 And he's just an awesome guy.
01:34 >> Sure, has this offense played as well as it's capable of yet this season?
01:40 >> I think we've shown flashes of what we can be, but
01:44 I don't think we've reached our full potential yet.
01:46 We got the SEC gauntlet coming up here soon, starts next week.
01:51 So I think that we're gonna have to be on our P's and
01:54 Q's throughout the stretch of our really, really tough games.
02:00 So I don't think we got there yet, but we've shown flashes of it for sure.
02:03 >> Trey was doing so much for you guys early, and
02:07 so much was expected of Cade pre-scoring and passing game.
02:11 How much are you and Dayton putting on yourselves now with those two guys'
02:15 statuses?
02:16 >> Yeah, we've stepped up to the plate a lot.
02:19 Just being kind of that voice around the room and
02:23 helping the younger guys like Aiden Williams, who hadn't started a game yet.
02:28 He gets his number called today, and he's gotta be a voice in those guys' ear.
02:33 And just encouraging a little bit, as well as doing your job as well.
02:37 So me and D-Wade, we've taken huge steps in our roles and
02:42 our leadership roles, and just bringing the younger guys along.
02:47 >> You said the offense is flashing.
02:49 What are you gonna have to do to take it to the next level where it's
02:53 more consistent?
02:54 Is it an execution thing?
02:56 >> I think so.
02:57 I think we just gotta walk into the details a little bit more.
03:00 And like you said, execute a little bit better.
03:02 And obviously, the other team, their own scholarship team,
03:06 like Coach Kiff said, their coaches get paid too.
03:10 So we just gotta execute better and come out and play Ole Miss football.
03:15 Our offense is known to be really, really explosive, really powerful.
03:19 So we just gotta get to that.
03:20 >> So kind of through the team, the eyes, receiver eyes,
03:24 how have you seen Aiden for these first three games of his career?
03:27 I have a stat sheet in there, but
03:29 what do you see maybe between the notes with him so far?
03:31 >> Right, I think he's just been a huge sponge, just kind of taking it all in.
03:35 Having three older guys, me, D-Wade, and Trey, kind of to look up to a little bit.
03:42 He's just been picking our brains a lot.
03:44 We've all played a lot of ball, but he's coming along great.
03:50 He's big, he's physical, he doesn't care to block.
03:53 And that's what we need, especially when we got Q back there running the ball.
03:56 We got guys who's gonna go out there and block, and he's not afraid to do it.
04:01 I think that's huge.
04:02 >> Question on top.
04:04 >> Yeah, with the guys being banged up, have you seen Jackson kind of step up
04:09 as a leader?
04:10 I mean, the run game had been struggling, and he breaks off nearly 140 yards.
04:13 How have you seen him step up with some of these skilled guys, not being 100%?
04:18 >> Yeah, for sure.
04:19 Like I said before, he just wants to win, so he'll do anything he can to win.
04:24 If that means putting his body on the line, and like you said,
04:27 rushing for 140 yards, then he'll do it.
04:30 And it's awesome because you're quarterback, everybody looks at the quarterback.
04:35 So he's just able to go out there and put it on the line, and
04:38 that makes guys wanna follow him.
04:39 And go out there and just really do the same thing.
04:42 It's awesome to see, and I think it's super positive for our team.
04:48 >> As a team, nearly 300 rushing yards.
04:50 Just how much easier, or how does that open up the passing game for
04:53 guys like you?
04:54 >> Yeah, for sure.
04:55 I think that definitely opens up the passing game a lot whenever we're
04:59 able to run the ball.
05:00 That's just kind of football in itself.
05:03 Whenever you got a really, really powerful run game,
05:07 it obviously opens up the pass game.
05:09 They bring more on the block.
05:10 So being able to establish the run game a lot better in this game is huge for us.
05:16 >> [INAUDIBLE]
05:20 >> It seems like in any situation where
05:21 the team just needed to get a first down, you were the go-to guy,
05:24 especially with some injuries that keep players on the offense.
05:27 Tell me more about this chemistry you've developed with Jackson.
05:29 >> Yeah, for sure.
05:30 Jackson, trust me, in situations like that when it's third down,
05:35 he kind of needs somebody to go to, I'm kind of his go-to guy a little bit.
05:41 So it's awesome that we built that connection over the summer,
05:44 over the spring, and over a little bit last year.
05:47 And it is awesome to be able to be that guy that he's just able to trust in
05:53 those kind of situations.
05:54 So it's been really, really fun.
05:57 >> Any questions?
06:00 All right.
06:01 >> Thanks for the presentation.
