00:00 - Jack, at the end there, when you had to make the biggest plays with your legs,
00:04 were those designed run plays or just what you saw from the defense and took it away?
00:09 - No, we had, on the back, we had a play-action call to get me on the run,
00:13 and then just seeing the open space and running there, and then on that third down,
00:17 we had called a drop back, vertical pass game, and then third play, a back cover,
00:22 so no one set the quarterback, and obviously, we set up for a first down for us.
00:29 - First half looked like it was gonna be 42 to nothing, the second half changed.
00:32 What was the difference?
00:33 - I think self-inflicted wounds, just doing the little things that, you know,
00:38 we moved the ball at times, got a couple first downs.
00:40 It's not like we ever went three and out or stalled any,
00:44 but just those little details that were preventing us from keeping those drafts going.
00:50 Obviously, the turnover didn't help, but yeah, just the little things that we got to clean up,
00:55 and then I think if we continue to play like we did in the first half, I think we can be pretty great on offense.
01:00 - Yeah, just for Jack and Jamar, what's going through your mind during the second half like that?
01:04 Are you kind of tensing up, or what is it exactly, what your thoughts are?
01:09 - We really just try to stay together because, you know, we didn't really do too well in the second half,
01:14 so we were trying to battle the adversity, so I feel like that's what made this team strong.
01:18 - Yeah, I think just for us, every time we get the ball, it's an opportunity to go score,
01:23 so guys weren't panicked on offense, and it's not like we didn't score.
01:27 I guess on the last drive, we do what we have to to win the game, and that's ultimately what matters in winning the game.
01:32 - Jack, do you think people don't kind of understand as well as you can run?
01:38 Do you feel like you take people by surprise with your ability to take a down move?
01:43 - I mean, I don't know. I think I've proved that I've been all right running the ball,
01:47 so if that's something I have to do, that's something I will do for the team.
01:51 Obviously, I don't major in that, but it's something I'm not.
01:57 Lamar, not Malik, Cunningham, so, but yeah, it's something I think I can do.
02:02 - For both of you, as Indiana has that fourth and goal possession,
02:06 what's your mindset when you're seeing the defense out there getting ready to make what ended up being a huge play?
02:10 - Oh, we really just stay behind our guys because we know that they're going to make that play for us,
02:14 and if they didn't, then we're just going to go down and score.
02:16 - Yep, just what he said. So just preparing, hey, look, if they stop them, which we think they will,
02:21 then let's see what we got to do to win, and if they get it, let's just go down and score.
02:25 - Was there any converse, what does it mean, though, to this team?
02:28 You put together a lot of new players, and you're still on your pathway to beat 3-0.
02:32 I guess, what does that say about the early growth and where this program is right now?
02:36 - We still got a lot of growing to do as a team and as a receiver corps and as offense.
02:42 We still got a lot of growing to do, but this is a step for us to take further,
02:46 and we still got nine more games to play, so we'll just take that and learn from it.
02:50 - Yeah, I think the first game and then this game as well have been really good for us,
02:56 just to be able to go through adversity and come out on the other side.
02:59 I think winning is a skill, and when you get used to it, I think it kind of starts rolling and piggybacking off of it.
03:06 So I think those were good for us to calm down.
03:09 The first game we had to come back and win, and this game we were up big and then had the rules,
03:14 but still had to find a way to win at the end.
03:16 - Jack? - Was there any conversation on the field about those guys not wanting to play Louisville anymore?
03:22 - No.
03:24 - Ed?
03:26 - This is for Jamari and for Jack.
03:28 The big play capability of this team seems like it's a strike at any time.
03:33 Like in the first quarter, they got you for a long one, and then just talk about that,
03:38 and what it does for your offense and your cycle.
03:42 Any time it can happen.
03:44 - I mean, it obviously gives us a spark on offense.
03:48 And I just appreciate Coach Brown for trusting us and giving us the playmaking ability to go down the field and score.
03:55 - Yeah, I think, like you said, at any time there'll be chances for us to go big,
04:01 and we'll have play calls, and depending on what the defense is doing,
04:06 there's always opportunities to hit it big.
04:08 And then when you got good players, I mean, you got this guy, you got Jamar, all his big runs.
04:15 Sometimes it's just the guys up there making plays.
04:18 - I'm not trying to lay blame on a fumble at the beginning of the second half,
04:23 but how much do you think that had to do with lightening it, fire it dry?
04:28 - Yeah, I mean, that's obviously a big play when you get an onside kick.
04:31 So I think that gave a little spark, a little energy, and then they went down and scored.
04:36 So I think that gave them a little light.
04:38 I mean, football's a game of momentum.
04:39 Certainly they got a little bit going out there.
04:41 - For both you guys, what does it feel like to know that you can go out there
04:44 and maybe not have the best offensive performance, especially in the second half,
04:47 and the defense steps up and gets you all to the victory line?
04:52 What's it feel to have that defense?
04:53 - I mean, it feels pretty good knowing that the defense is out back all the time,
04:57 and we rely on each other day in and day out.
05:00 So it feels good to know that they're out in the back.
05:03 - Yeah, I'll say it's a team game, so you need all three phases working.
05:06 And at the end of the day, the Louisville offense doesn't win the game,
05:10 the Louisville defense doesn't win the game, the Louisville Cardinals win the game.
05:12 So it takes all three phases, and I think that's a key aspect of being a good team.
05:17 - You guys had a lot of fan support out there today.
05:20 How much did that fuel you guys through the game?
05:22 - It always feels good knowing the fans are here.
05:26 Just them being here and showing support gives us a lot of fire in the support.
05:31 - Yeah, I thought they did a good job, and we had about half that sideline filled up.
05:35 And just them being loud sometimes when they're at the ball,
05:39 that makes a difference for sure.
05:40 - All right, guys, you're good.
