00:00 I see somebody's been putting the finishing touches on Freddy's face.
00:04 Here's a look at the NECA Toys Nightmare on Elm Street Ultimate Freddy Krueger 2022 Reissue
00:09 Figure.
00:30 Nancy is having grisly nightmares.
00:32 Something monstrous wants to kill her.
00:34 Meanwhile, her high school friends who are having the very same dream are being slaughtered
00:37 in their sleep by the hideous fiend of their own shared nightmare.
00:40 When the police ignore their explanation, she must confront the killer in his own shadowy
00:45 realm.
00:46 While Nancy and her friends are in search of new dreams, I was in search for a new Freddy
00:49 from Nightmare on Elm Street Part 1.
00:51 I'll get to the reasons more in a moment, but I did end up finding the 2022 reissue
00:55 over at Entertainment Earth's site.
00:57 If you guys are interested, I think this guy had sold out, but he has been restocked again.
01:01 You can click the link down below in the video description.
01:04 That link also, by the way, will not only be able to get you the Nightmare on Elm Street
01:07 Freddy Krueger, but also using that link will save you 10% off anything that's currently
01:12 in stock over on their site.
01:14 I'm going to grab now the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:17 Now this figure is about 6 3/4 of an inch in height, or he's going to be about 17 cm
01:23 tall.
01:24 So my search for Freddy really had more to do with the fact that I had this original
01:27 one from 2014.
01:28 In fact, I still have the box for it.
01:30 But unfortunately, I have a lot of the accessories missing.
01:33 Now this isn't the first Freddy we've looked at here on this channel for the Nightmare
01:35 on Elm Street first film.
01:37 I've actually looked at the earlier Freddy Krueger that even had the more stachioned
01:40 lower legs that had no articulation.
01:43 Now that figure I still have, but I don't have most of the accessories that went along
01:47 with this figure.
01:48 A lot of the times as I'm doing reviews, I may put some of the accessories to the side
01:51 if I was looking for a figure and I was moving on to looking at something else.
01:55 Well, sure enough, with this particular Freddy, I may have put some of the accessories over
01:58 to the side and over the years of changing out the backdrops, I think some of the accessories
02:02 went missing for this particular Freddy.
02:04 So he was never really complete after that initial review.
02:07 I have a few times just seen like one random piece here, like the mask, for example, that
02:12 comes included with the figure.
02:13 And I've always tried to put it back in the box.
02:15 But like this Freddy is missing so many accessories.
02:17 I also thought it was just prime time.
02:19 His lower legs are also just becoming really, really loose as well.
02:22 And I thought it was also a good time to get an updated paint scheme.
02:25 Now I don't know if necessarily I would say like the paint scheme has been done better
02:29 here with the 2022 exclusive, not a 22 reissue, being of course that this is like now nine
02:34 years later.
02:35 I don't know if the paint has been necessarily improved.
02:38 It definitely does look better on the sweater, but I think it might be a little bit too extreme
02:42 on his face.
02:43 We're going to talk more about that in a moment.
02:44 As I've also been yammering away, I did also want to bring in the reissue Nightmare on
02:47 Elm Street Part Two Freddy Krueger.
02:49 And while unfortunately I think maybe too much was applied to paint on this one, not
02:53 enough was applied to the 2022 reissue of Nightmare on Elm Street Part Two Freddy's
02:57 Revenge Freddy.
03:00 So while I may not be able to bring in the accessories from that 2014 release of Freddy
03:04 Krueger, I at least can deliver the accessories that come included with this figure.
03:08 And then shortly after this review, anything that won't be then displayed on this figure
03:11 on the shelf will then be immediately going back in the box.
03:14 Not going to have that happen again.
03:16 First the accessories that come included with the figure.
03:18 He comes included first of all with the phone.
03:21 I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy.
03:23 I mean, I love this phone.
03:25 I mean, I love this phone when we got this included before as well.
03:29 Sometime at some point, I hope a company releases a one-to-one scale phone that actually has
03:33 the little wiggling tongue on the end of it.
03:35 I would be picking that up right away.
03:37 I think at one point it was teased.
03:39 I think Heather Langlingkamp did want to take the phone home after the set shoot, but I
03:43 would love to get myself an actual one-to-one scale.
03:46 I mean, yeah, you could probably just fashion a tongue on the end of like an old eighties
03:49 phone, but it's just not the same.
03:51 I would love to have a little tongue that actually wiggles back and forth.
03:54 Now there is a phone cord.
03:55 I haven't unraveled it.
03:57 Actually, in fact, it's already wound up and molded this way.
04:00 So you can't actually do anything more than what it's doing right now.
04:03 You could in theory, I suppose, hang up the receiver, but that's not going to be getting
04:06 rid of Freddy at all.
04:08 I mean, apparently all you really need to do is turn your back on Freddy, at least in
04:11 the first film, and he disappears.
04:13 That's all that was required.
04:14 Of course, we had to work a little harder to defeat Freddy in later films, but apparently
04:18 that's all Nancy had to do in the first film.
04:20 The figure also comes included, of course, with this fedora.
04:23 Now this fedora is sort of more dated.
04:25 I mean, obviously the fedoras they would have had in the first two films, sort of more smaller
04:30 and the rim of the hat, obviously in later films would be a little bit more flattened
04:34 out.
04:35 The earlier films sort of had the rim folded up like this.
04:37 It does fit obviously on his head and it fits on all the heads of the other head sculpts
04:42 that he comes included with.
04:43 And it looks okay.
04:44 You know, it's not bad.
04:45 I mean, obviously this is a slightly more dated looking Freddy.
04:47 I mean, they haven't perfected yet the scars, but at least like he gets himself like that
04:52 classic look of Freddy already starting right away.
04:54 Obviously the only thing that's really missing is the fact that this version of Freddy doesn't
04:57 have the stripes on his sleeves, but yeah, you can really see like where Freddy would
05:00 have originated and it's really not that far different than the more Hollywood Freddy Krueger
05:04 from like three onward.
05:06 The head sculpt, of course, does have again the means to store the fedora, but then also
05:10 he has two additional heads right over here.
05:12 We're going to talk more about that in a moment.
05:14 The figure also has the cutoff fingers that are squirting, oozing out the green slime.
05:19 What do you want to call that?
05:21 And just basically shooting out his finger.
05:22 And I really liked the way that this has been done.
05:24 Unfortunately, again, I don't have the original hand on hand.
05:27 I always see what I did there, but I do like the way they've darkened the coloring of this.
05:30 It actually kind of looks like this skin has been charred again, like the way they've colored
05:34 this so brightly.
05:35 It does really, I mean, obviously to have this figure on display with the figure with
05:38 this hand, it really does look from, even from a distance, like something ain't quite
05:42 right with his hands.
05:43 The figure also comes included with a skin mask.
05:45 Now, again, this was all released with the original Freddy.
05:48 So nothing really was included that was done differently.
05:49 I think in fact, the initial stactioned Freddy with the lower legs, not having articulation
05:54 may have had, I think only just really the head, maybe two heads and the fedora didn't
05:59 come in with all these other accessories.
06:01 Now this skin mask can fit over top of existing Freddy's face.
06:04 In fact, it's really so weird to kind of look this from the backside.
06:08 You can kind of see the impression that Freddy made literally and figuratively as you can
06:12 then take the fedora, which is by the way, it was very easy to remove.
06:14 It's fairly soft plastic.
06:15 But you can take the skin face and just attach it over top of Freddy's existing face.
06:21 Never really a look that I would ever go with when displaying this guy on the shelf, but
06:25 appreciate the fact always that NECA includes these accessories like they do.
06:28 As a side note, sort of strange still, it seems that all the Ultimate Freddys that have
06:34 been packaged in boxes have never really come included with the extended arms.
06:38 The original one did.
06:39 The original one that we looked at here on this channel.
06:41 And again, I would always encourage you guys to go back and watch those older reviews,
06:44 apologize by the dated nature of those older videos.
06:47 But like the older Freddy would have had the extendable arms like he has in the alleyway
06:51 scene where of course he's scratching the sides.
06:53 I don't know why they haven't yet included this Freddy or re-released this Freddy with
06:57 the longer arms.
06:58 Maybe it just had something to do with the difficult time that collectors may have had
07:02 just to remove the arms.
07:03 They didn't want to worry about any pegs potentially breaking.
07:05 So they just decided not to just, they just 86'd it all together.
07:08 But at some point, I would love to see this guy get a follow up where he has again, like
07:12 the straighter arms added as well, the extendable arms, which again, kind of in a movie looks
07:15 a little ridiculous because obviously they're just using fishing lines to sort of suspend
07:19 the arms.
07:20 But back then when I was first watching the movie, it's still pretty creepy.
07:23 Now the figure does have also alternate head sculpts.
07:25 I guess before we do that though, I want to show you guys what the default head sculpt
07:28 is.
07:29 I have already several times removed this head and popped it and replaced it with the
07:32 other ones, but I did want to put it back to the way I found it just to show you guys
07:35 what the default head sculpt looks like when you get them out of the box.
07:38 Now I can't necessarily do the comparison from potato to potato, apple to apple, why
07:42 don't we compare potatoes to potatoes, apples to apples, oranges to oranges, because obviously
07:46 this head sculpt is going to be the alternate one that's just down there.
07:49 So when I do replace that head sculpt down there, I'm going to then bring that other
07:54 figure back in.
07:55 You can see the difference between the two.
07:56 This head sculpt isn't terrible.
07:57 I mean, obviously I never really had a problem with the original head sculpt anyways.
08:00 I will say though, this scabbing of the red is maybe a little bit too vibrant.
08:04 You can really see it.
08:05 It isn't so much as bad on this one, but when we get to then the other head sculpt right
08:09 down there, right down there, you can really see like how that scabbing of red is maybe
08:12 a little bit too bright when they applied it to the face.
08:16 Like again, there's a lot of mileage.
08:18 There's a lot of room to grow here when it comes to Freddy's design.
08:20 He gets obviously much better as it gets to the later sequels.
08:23 This earlier Freddy sort of has more of like a charred, I want to even say like a raw leather
08:27 look to him.
08:28 I like the head sculpt, but again, like if you wanted to have him displayed, for example,
08:32 with a more sinister Freddy, there's also this head sculpt also as well.
08:35 To change the heads out, by the way, it's very easy.
08:36 You're just going to go ahead and remove the head from the provided peg.
08:39 I'm glad also that they're using posts for these and not the original ball joints.
08:43 I think in fact, the original Freddy also had just this post system, but to change the
08:47 head out, we're just going to pop the head back in place.
08:49 Now, if you're having any problems to do this, the first few times that you're doing this,
08:53 you might have a little bit of difficult time.
08:55 You may always go the route of heating the head or heating the peg to help soften up
08:59 the plastic, but you'll probably get a better idea of what I'm talking about here, how more
09:02 extreme that red is here on Freddy's face.
09:05 This is now a good opportunity to bring back in the original Freddy so you can see the
09:08 difference between the two.
09:10 Now, I understand obviously the figure's head sculpt from the initial release, this one,
09:14 not the initial release, but the 2014 release, maybe isn't as sharp on details as what we
09:19 get with this one.
09:20 The teeth are a little bit brighter.
09:21 The eyes are a little clearer, but I will say one thing.
09:23 I feel like the red is way too bright.
09:25 I mean, in a way, I feel like this one handled it better by using a darker coloring and maybe
09:30 at the time that they felt that was the best way to paint Freddy, and I still feel like
09:34 that maybe was the best way to paint Freddy.
09:36 Like his red is just way too bright.
09:38 It needs to be at least two shades darker, I feel.
09:40 Closer to, I feel this, and not as bright as what it is here.
09:43 I unfortunately can't help but also notice that the end of Freddy's nose has some additional
09:48 red.
09:49 It's not supposed to be there.
09:50 At least I don't think it's supposed to be there.
09:51 He does have scabbing on the end of his nose, but I think it's supposed to be more skin
09:54 tone.
09:55 It isn't certainly supposed to be as bright red as what we get in right here.
09:58 The obviously overlooking the fact that the red is way too bright, I think the face is
10:02 still painted well.
10:03 The teeth now get a chance to shine as grimy as those teeth may look, and his eyes look
10:07 like they're a little bit sharper on detail.
10:10 You can see some nice additional burning that he has on the side of his ear there, but again,
10:13 like just spin this around, I feel like too much was applied.
10:16 Too much red or too bright of a red at least was applied to Freddy's face.
10:20 Now there's this head sculpt, or again, if you want to go even extreme, more extreme,
10:25 then there's also the one that where he removes the face.
10:27 Now underneath, of course, he has the skeletal face, and again, we just pop that off just
10:32 like that, and we'll just then replace it with this skull face.
10:35 Now I suppose one thing about having now multiple Freddys, I've mentioned this already before
10:39 when we looked at the Ultimate Jasons, if you pick up more than one figure, there's
10:43 always then the opportunity to then customize them, or in the sense that you can change
10:47 the head sculpts off.
10:48 So if you're going to have like multiples of the same figure on your shelf, I don't
10:50 know why I'm doing it like this, but if you're having multiples on the shelf, at least then
10:54 you have different looks of displaying the figure.
10:56 Or the gruesome certainly looking Freddy, but again, like a chance to really shine with
10:59 the brighter coloring of the tongue on the inside.
11:01 Maybe again, like the tongue is a little too bright, but at least you certainly do see
11:04 it.
11:05 The teeth again, top and bottom, as mangled as they may be, does look really good on this
11:09 Freddy face.
11:10 For me at least, I think I'm going to still default back to this head sculpt.
11:14 I don't feel like yet this is a Freddy that's really smiling and joking around, so I'm probably
11:17 just going to stick with this head sculpt for now.
11:20 But I think like all three head sculpts, even as old as they may be, were all superior heads
11:24 to Freddy.
11:25 I just feel like again, like the paint is maybe a little bit too bright, that's all.
11:28 So let's just pop this off for right now, and maybe what we'll do is we'll put on, it's
11:32 not going to be the one I'm going to go with, but I think for the rest of this review, I'm
11:35 going to put on the more smiling, sinister Freddy.
11:38 And again, the rules still apply when it comes to the fedora, you can easily just put the
11:41 fedora on top of his head.
11:43 As for the rest of the outfit, this Freddy of course does away with the idea of having
11:46 stripes on his sleeves, not until introduced in Freddy's Revenge, the second follow-up
11:51 film.
11:52 But bringing back in the original Freddy that we looked at before, obviously the colors
11:55 are a lot brighter here on the newer release, as I hope they should be.
11:59 The greens and the reds stand a lot more than what they did before.
12:01 I mean obviously like the older figure would have had a little more faded look to it.
12:04 So like the sleeves and the coloring as a whole is done much better.
12:08 The glove is also something, as you can see as well.
12:10 Now I can't tell whether, I'm sure the glove is exactly the same, you can see the placement
12:14 of the blades look to be the same, but the coloring again, I think it's handled a lot
12:18 better on the 2022 release than what we got here with the 2014 release.
12:22 Same as well for applied on pants.
12:24 Like the pants themselves, much darker here on the newer one, a little bit more faded
12:28 on the original one, and the same also applies for the boots or the shoes that he's wearing
12:31 as well.
12:32 So I feel like color-wise, this still delivers a better looking Freddy, but I feel like in
12:36 a way, again, just too bright on the face scabs.
12:40 Looking at the articulation of the figure, let's go back to the head that has the scabs.
12:42 Ew, I don't know if I even want to touch those.
12:45 Let's just remove like the fedora for right now, just a little bit easier for me to kind
12:48 of get in there with the head.
12:49 The head being on a ball post allows the head to look back that far or look forward that
12:54 much.
12:55 You can also rock the head back and forth as well.
12:56 And of course, yeah, you can rotate it all the way around as well.
12:59 The shoulders are on hinges.
13:00 Now the hinges don't really allow for a full 90 degree angle bend.
13:04 Rather instead, you're only getting about what, like 45 degrees.
13:06 You can also take as well the arms and rotate them all the way around.
13:09 That's the same also on both the sides.
13:11 He has only just a single hinge at his elbow, but at least allows the forearm to rotate
13:14 back and forth.
13:15 The hands as well rotate also all the way around.
13:18 Buddy's body is on an upper torso ball joint, so you can rotate that all the way around.
13:21 Like this is also softer plastic, maybe not as much soft here, although you can feel it
13:26 is an overlay of plastic that they put over top of an articulated body underneath.
13:31 But he does have pretty decent articulation in the upper torso.
13:34 Legs split out, they're on ratcheted joints.
13:36 You can take the legs and move forward.
13:37 You can move them back and you can swivel at the top of the thigh.
13:41 Single hinge only on the lower leg, but at least it allows the lower leg to rotate also
13:44 as well.
13:45 You can also move up and down only just by a little bit, and you can also rock the feet
13:48 back and forth only just by a little bit.
13:51 And again, he's got like really a bunching of pants down below here.
13:54 Freddy probably could have used maybe a size smaller, just a slight size smaller when it
13:59 comes to the Freddy body, or at least when it comes to Freddy's pants.
14:02 All in all, again, like it's a good looking figure.
14:04 It's always the case, like you really want to see these figures, I think, on in hand.
14:08 Go to a comic book store that certainly stocks these figures.
14:11 And if you get the chance, first of all, you can also always pick up the boxes and just
14:15 to bring back in the box.
14:16 I really should have brought the box in earlier.
14:18 On the bottom here, you can see like the lot number.
14:21 This is 966N021722.
14:24 Always look at the last two numbers just to bring back in the original Freddy box, which
14:27 I don't know again why I'm doing this right now.
14:29 You can see like the original lot number was 0214.
14:33 So again, like there's a difference of nine years.
14:35 The boxes are also going to be exactly the same, but I would always say too, when it
14:38 comes to, if you're looking to get reissues, go always buy those lot numbers, especially
14:42 the last two digits.
14:43 That will dictate the year of which the manufacturer was producing that figure.
14:47 So again, like it'll tell us based on that, that there's a nine year gap between these
14:50 two figures.
14:51 In nine years, I feel like they have improved the coloring of this, the sweater.
14:55 I feel like they've improved the coloring of the glove.
14:57 I feel like they've also improved the coloring of the pants, all darker, all richer, all
15:00 sharper.
15:01 But I feel like one thing, unfortunately, that suffers for this figure when it comes
15:04 to 2022 release, at least, is the fact that the scabbing on his face, especially on this
15:09 one, because of course now he has red on the end of his nose.
15:11 It looks like he's Rudolph, some demonic Rudolph that's saving Christmas.
15:14 I don't think he's going to be saving Christmas.
15:16 I think he's going to be slaughtering people on Christmas.
15:18 But that's the only thing I feel like is a bit of a detriment to the figure.
15:22 Like all of the rest of it really from like the neck down is fine.
15:25 But I feel like in a way, like the original head sculpt, maybe while there could have
15:28 been improvement when it comes to the applying of the paint, I feel like the head sculpt
15:32 in the original and the one that I had at least from 2014 might've done things just
15:36 a tad bit better.
15:37 Now you know me, I'm all about picking up those neck of horror reissues.
15:41 Whenever I get the chance and I see a new reissue popping up over on Entertainment Earth
15:45 in which I actually picked up this Freddy Krueger for myself, I always add it to my
15:48 cart right away.
15:49 This is though one of those cases where I didn't necessarily pick it up just because
15:52 I wanted an updated paint, but I also wanted to get this figure as well to retrieve all
15:57 of those missing accessories that I lost before with the other Freddy.
16:00 Sure enough, I'm sure I've got it somewhere here.
16:03 I mean, obviously if I go down and check in the basement, maybe I may have one point put
16:06 everything away in totes, but with how many totes I have and how many little tiny baggies
16:11 of accessories, maybe I did put them away, but at the time of obviously doing this review,
16:15 as it always is the case, I couldn't find them at all.
16:18 I know somewhere lurking here in the dark dwellings of my house, there's probably also
16:22 the long arm Freddy from that original stachion Freddy that had the little to no articulation
16:27 in the lower half of his body.
16:29 If I do get the chance, first of all, to find that figure, maybe I'll do a follow-up review
16:33 on the original Freddy so you guys can kind of see the difference between the two.
16:37 Still though, I'm surprised that NECA has yet to release an ultimate Freddy Krueger
16:40 from Nightmare on Elm Street that doesn't have the longer arms.
16:43 Maybe again, it had something to do with just the construction of it.
16:46 I mean, they already have the mold, so why did they just re-release a figure that had
16:50 the longer arms?
16:51 Still though, when it comes to displaying the figure, I'm going to probably have maybe
16:53 this Freddy displayed with him chopping up one of his, well, two little piggies.
16:58 What's that one?
16:59 Is that the little piggy that went home?
17:00 Little piggy that ate roast beef?
17:01 It doesn't really matter.
17:02 It's the little piggy that had a bad dream.
17:04 Speaking of bad dreams though, I really would have a much worse of a dream looking at a
17:09 Freddy Krueger that has the scabbing, this red.
17:11 I mean, in a way, it sort of is awkward to look at this, painfully to look at this, to
17:16 see how bright the red of the scabbing is on his face.
17:18 I don't know why they chose as bright of a red as they did.
17:21 I think the colors could have been muted a lot more than what they were.
17:24 For some reason, again, this is just a lot brighter and using again, like this Freddy,
17:28 unfortunately, this particular head sculpt means as well that I'm going to have red on
17:32 the end of his nose and that's not good either.
17:34 But what do you guys think of the 2022 reissue of Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger?
17:38 Have you had the chance to pick up this one for yourself or what's the last lot number
17:42 you have for your Freddy Krueger figure?
17:44 Now, right now, everyone's going to be like scammering around.
17:46 Where's all my Freddy Krueger boxes?
17:47 Where's all my Freddy Krueger boxes?
17:49 I only just happen to have all my boxes right next to me.
17:52 You can't even see it, but like where I'm recording right now, all of my NECA boxes
17:55 are just to the side of me and that's easy for me then to retrieve them based on whenever
18:00 I want to do the review.
18:01 I couldn't have done, of course, having the Freddy over there with all of his accessories
18:04 from the 2014 release, but at least we fixed things.
18:06 I'd like to think we fixed things here with the 2022 reissue.
18:10 Once again, if you guys are interested to get this one for yourself, as far as I know,
18:13 it's still stocked over on Entertainment Earth.
18:15 It just so happens to be, and I'm sure have nothing to do with this at all.
18:18 Every time I seem to do these reissue reviews, that particular item always seems to sell
18:23 out over on Entertainment Earth and I'm not taking any credit at all for that.
18:27 It just happens to probably just be perfect timing.
18:29 But again, if you guys are interested, you can click the link down below that will take
18:32 you on over to their site, pick up the 2022 exclusive, 2022 reissues, not an exclusive,
18:36 a reissue for yourself.
18:38 And maybe also while you're there, if you'd like to get anything else, that link will
18:41 take off 10%, promise, 10% off anything that's in stock over on their site.
18:46 If you guys enjoyed this video, I want to hit it with a like.
18:48 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing and certainly do want to stick
18:50 around for more, if you haven't already done so, make sure you hit that subscribe button
18:54 down below and you're turning on as well, the bell notification.
18:57 We will have some more NECA reviews coming your way.
18:59 I don't know necessarily if they're going to be reissues or not, but there's always
19:01 new content coming your way.
19:03 So as always, guys, thanks for watching.
19:05 See you guys next time.
19:06 [inaudible].
