Leeds headlines 15 September: Armley Gyratory footbridges to be replaced
Transcript
00:00 Three stories in brief, and the removal of the Spence Lane footbridge over the Armley
00:05 Gyratory is set to begin later this month. It's the first of three around the gyratory,
00:11 which will be replaced with new footbridges which will include accessible ramps. Footbridge
00:15 diversion maps are now online.
00:18 Next, West Yorkshire Police recently seized £4 million worth of drugs from a suspected
00:24 Albanian organised crime gang. The city's district commander, Superintendent Steve Dodds,
00:29 told a council scrutiny meeting that the discovery was made in the north-west of the city.
00:35 And finally, Leeds City Council's latest monthly footfall figures for Leeds' Kirkgate
00:39 Market showed that it received more than 500,000 visits in both July and August. The figures
00:46 are the highest of the year so far, and were in part driven by a busy summer programme
00:50 of free family-friendly events and activities.
