00:00 - So you're right here looking at me?
00:04 - Hey, guys, both of your trucks just to drop us,
00:07 and the line is right in the middle of both belts.
00:10 I gave you both instructions in the dress room.
00:11 I want to remind you to please listen
00:13 and follow my instructions at all times.
00:14 Protect yourself at all times.
00:16 Fight hard, fight clean.
00:17 Good luck to both of you.
00:19 - All in favor, Jack Reiss,
00:21 getting this main event assignment,
00:23 10 rounds of boxing scheduled
00:25 for the WBC Continental event.
00:29 Continental America's Super Welterweight Championship.
00:33 [cheers and applause]
00:35 It is Sirhai Boatchuk.
00:36 - Patrick, you ready? You ready?
00:38 - And Patrick Alate. [bell dings]
00:40 Boatchuk wearing the blue and yellow of his native Ukraine.
00:45 Alate in the black.
00:47 [indistinct chatter]
00:51 TJ DeSantis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
00:55 Live tonight, this is our main event
00:56 of Tom Lafleur's Hollywood Fight Night.
00:59 You're joining us here live on UFC Fight Nights.
01:01 [indistinct chatter]
01:04 For Boatchuk, this is his second fight of 2023.
01:19 Last fought in January.
01:21 [indistinct chatter]
01:25 [indistinct chatter]
01:28 [cheers]
01:30 [indistinct chatter]
01:33 [indistinct chatter]
01:35 Interesting story for Boatchuk.
01:36 Had to go back to the Ukraine in 2022
01:39 to get his visa renewed.
01:41 And that is when war broke out in his country.
01:43 Was able to get that taken care of,
01:46 and now obviously wants to put on a show
01:49 for his native Ukraine.
01:51 His brother fighting in the military.
01:53 He's a military trained himself,
01:55 but now fighting and trying to defend this
01:59 WBC super welterweight
02:01 Continental America championship.
02:04 Boatchuk was trapped in Ukraine for about nine months,
02:08 and so he lost most of 2022.
02:14 Tom brought him back late in 2022,
02:18 and then in his very next fight in January,
02:20 he really stepped up the competition.
02:23 [cheers]
02:25 As you would expect,
02:26 having won the WBC's Continental Americas title,
02:29 and with that, he got a top ten ranking
02:34 with the WBC in the junior welterweight division.
02:38 He's moved up those rankings.
02:39 The victory over Dalimore carried him away.
02:44 Now he finds himself in there
02:45 with a former world title challenger in Patrick Allete.
02:48 [indistinct chatter]
02:50 Boatchuk doing his part to maintain that ranking
02:52 and try to climb the ranks for the world title fight.
02:55 And activity helps, but it also helps to fight.
03:00 Recognizable names.
03:01 [cheers]
03:02 A statement, a statement was made by Sergei Boatchuk.
03:06 Patrick Allete plants him to the floor with that right hand.
03:10 Is he going to get back up?
03:11 Jack Reiss pulls it.
03:12 It is done.
03:14 Sergei Boatchuk hits the win.
03:17 First round knockout.
03:19 How good was that?
03:21 That's a statement.
03:23 Allete went four rounds with Jaime Munguia in 2019.
03:29 I'd never seen him taken out like that.
03:30 Now, he's complaining.
03:31 He's saying he could have continued.
03:33 And I actually thought he was boxing well.
03:35 He was doing the right thing by employing the lateral movement,
03:38 working his jab, not getting too greedy,
03:41 not trying to battle it out inside with Boatchuk.
03:44 But Boatchuk is also dangerous from a distance.
03:47 He's a tall and rangy guy.
03:49 And it was just a straight right hand, right, Coach?
03:53 Yeah, no, straight right.
03:54 And I mean, listen, when you fall face first,
03:57 that means something.
03:58 Because generally, if you have your wits about you,
04:00 you will break your own fall.
04:02 It's just kind of a natural instinct.
04:03 So when you land face first, referees
04:06 are going to take notice of that.
04:09 A long straight right hand landed at the end of it.
04:12 Allete definitely complaining about the stoppage,
04:16 like you said.
04:17 It's not often an athlete in combat sports
04:20 goes face first to the floor, as you mentioned, Doug Fisher.
04:23 Allete did that.
04:24 Jack Reiss, Lady of the Count, didn't
04:26 like the body language of Patrick Allete.
04:30 So he calls the fight.
04:32 What a quick one.
04:33 Sergei Boatchuk getting it done in round number one.
04:35 Doug, walk us through.
04:37 Yeah, it was just a straight right to the side of the head.
04:40 And his legs immediately went-- it was almost
04:42 like a delayed effect.
04:43 The right landed, and then he leaned forward
04:45 and kind of like he wanted to grab and hold
04:49 onto Boatchuk to break his fall.
04:51 Boatchuk just took a few steps back
04:53 and allowed him to fall flat on his face.
04:56 He doesn't look at Jack.
04:58 He looks away from Jack's back controls,
05:00 but he didn't want to continue.
05:02 One thing about Jack Reiss, and really he
05:05 has a reputation of giving guys a chance,
05:07 but you have to look him in the eye.
05:09 He has to look you in the eye to ascertain whether or not
05:12 you have your wits about you.
05:14 There's the saying, the eyes are the window to the mind.
05:16 And there was no real tell there from Patrick Alatay
05:19 to Jack Reiss that he wanted to continue.
05:22 He definitely looked shocked when the fight was called,
05:25 but he didn't necessarily have the eye contact
05:29 and the look of someone who still wants to fight.
05:33 All the credit in the world to Sergei Boatchuk, who gets it
05:38 done in a very big way tonight.
05:41 First round knockout.
05:43 Successfully defending his WBC Continental Americas
05:46 Super Welterweight Championship.
05:49 Fighting karate Ukraine, getting it done in front
05:57 of a worldwide audience on UFC Fight Pass.
06:01 What a statement made tonight.
06:03 Patrick Alatay still very upset, but tonight belongs
06:06 to the Ukraine's Sergei Boatchuk.
06:08 [music playing]
06:12 To make this one official, we go to Sonny Franco.
06:16 Ladies and gentlemen, from the Chumash Casino
06:19 Resort for the last time, the end comes.
06:22 Two minutes, 32 seconds of round number one.
06:25 Referee Jack Reiss puts a stop to this contest,
06:28 declaring your winner by way of a knockout, and still champion.
06:36 [inaudible]
06:39 [bell ringing]
06:42 [music playing]
06:45 Sergei Boatchuk getting it done, 23 and 1, all 23 wins.
06:50 Come by way of knockout, he embraces his opponent.
06:54 [music playing]
06:55 Pump by way of knockout, he embraces his opponent.
