00:00 It's official, Apple is finally getting rid of the lightning cord iPhone charger and replacing
00:04 it with USB-C. Here's why that's such a big deal.
00:08 At Apple's event on Tuesday, September 12th, the tech titan announced a number of exciting
00:12 new things.
00:13 Among them were the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple's first carbon neutral product, and of course,
00:19 the long-awaited iPhone 15.
00:21 The iPhone 15 comes with a number of features, including bringing dynamic island to phones
00:26 that aren't pros, a new 2x telephoto option, and the Action button, which will replace
00:32 but still work as a silent/ringer switch.
00:35 But the biggest update is undoubtedly, after years of consumer complaints, the iPhone 15
00:40 will feature a USB-C charging port.
00:42 USB-C is sort of known as a universal cable, adapted by many companies to charge laptops,
00:47 phones, portable power banks, and pretty much anything else you can think of.
00:52 Even though the change was pushed in large part by the European Union, which now requires
00:56 all smartphones to be compatible with USB-C in an effort to reduce electronic waste, many
01:01 Apple owners are excited about the switch to the more convenient cable.
