00:08 Vladimir Putin.
00:10 The summit, as indicated by the United States, is expected to centre on Moscow's involvement
00:15 in the conflict in Ukraine, particularly in terms of weapon supplies.
00:20 The trip marks Kim's first visit abroad in more than four years and the first since the
00:25 COVID-19 pandemic.
00:28 Kim travelled from Pyongyang on his luxury armoured train, which caught the attention
00:32 of the netizens.
00:34 Kim spent 20 hours travelling 1,180 km on the slow-moving green and yellow train, in
00:41 accordance with a long-standing tradition followed by North Korean leaders.
00:47 When it comes to international trips, he is well known for his preference for train travel.
00:52 So, what is so special about Kim's armoured train?
00:57 Kim's armoured plated train, green with yellow stripes, has about 20 carriages and a top
01:02 speed of about 37mph because of its weight.
01:06 The mysterious dark green train, which has 90 carriages, also features tinted windows
01:12 to obscure the identities of those on board the machine.
01:17 It also has a restaurant that carries expensive French wine and passengers could feast on
01:22 live lobster and pork barbecue.
01:25 Apart from that, the train has conference rooms, audience chambers and bedrooms with
01:29 satellite phones and flat-screen televisions installed for briefings.
01:34 Kim Jong-un's grandfather, Kim Il-sung, was the one who started the tradition of long-distance
01:40 travel by train after he started going on train trips to Vietnam and Eastern Europe.
01:45 Notably, the leader's father and predecessor, Kim Jong-il, was famously scared of flying.
01:51 He once took 10 days to get to Moscow in 2001 to hold a meeting with Mr. Putin.
01:58 Security agents heavily guard these luxurious trains and scan the routes and stations ahead
02:02 for bombs and other threats.
02:04 Kim Jong-un, the current leader of North Korea, has continued the family tradition and believes
02:09 the armoured train provides more security and luxury than a flight.
02:13 According to reports, he travelled around 4,500 km through China in his train to reach
02:18 Vietnam to meet President Donald Trump.
02:21 The journey took two and a half days.
02:23 Russian military commander Konstantin Poliukovsky also talked of the train's opulence, boasting
02:30 how it was possible to order any dish of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and French cuisine
02:35 aboard the train.
02:36 Even Mr. Putin's private train did not have the comfort of Kim Jong-il's train, Mr. Poliukovsky
02:42 noted.
