Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton isn't giving much away when it comes to facing new Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Transcript
00:00 >> What is your take on Garoppolo and is it any additional challenge when you're
00:04 facing a quarterback in his first game in a season opener with a new team?
00:08 >> Well, he went to Eastern Illinois, there's two jerseys retired there.
00:11 >> Right.
00:12 >> One's Romo.
00:13 >> [LAUGH] >> What's the next question?
00:16 Who's the other one?
00:17 >> Garoppolo.
00:18 >> Garoppolo.
00:18 >> Yeah.
00:19 >> Is it you?
00:20 >> Yeah.
00:21 >> I like, listen, I like- >> Eastern Airlines.
00:23 >> I think Jimmy's, man, he's played well.
00:29 I got to know him a little bit.
00:31 We share a similar agent and he's from Chicago.
00:34 And when you're coaching, it's probably like Mike was when I was playing.
00:39 You keep track of who's doing what, and then he gets drafted by New England.
00:43 And I was a part of that with Tony in Dallas, but with Jimmy,
00:48 I think he ended up breaking everyone's records.
00:51 But he had a great career and he's doing well in this league.
00:54 One more.
00:55 >> After your years in the league, does week one, the anticipation for it,
00:59 is it still something special to you personally?
01:01 >> Doesn't change at all.
01:02 And I think, look, you're anxious as a coach to see what you have.
01:07 Usually in the first four weeks, you get an idea of where you're at.
01:11 I've said this before, there's a race to improve every team immediately.
01:17 Who's getting better?
01:21 But I don't think it feels any different than any of the other week ones that I've
01:28 been a part of, but I think you're anxious.
01:30 There's new players.
01:31 You're anxious to see where your team's at.
01:33 It's like a teacher that you've had a whole semester and this is a fine,
01:38 you're getting a big exam and you think you're doing well, but you're anxious to see.
