00:00 It's been a fairly slow start to the season in the Italian Premier League for Margate FC.
00:04 Two wins on the board and three losses.
00:07 But following a successful start to their FA Cup run,
00:10 the team are refreshed and ready to get back to some league action this weekend.
00:15 And that's why the club is inviting as many of its fans as possible
00:18 to come down to Hearthstone Road for a family fun day.
00:21 So I'm here as part of our fixture of the week to see exactly what is on offer.
00:26 This Saturday they're up against Potters Bar Town, who currently sit bottom of the Italian Premier standings.
00:32 I caught up with their head of communications, Ryan Day.
00:35 Anyone that thinks a team that have lost five in a row aren't going to come here hungry to get their first point
00:41 is not in the right frame of mind, to be honest.
00:44 They're going to come here, they're going to fight for everything.
00:46 They're going to want to upset the party, because that's essentially what we're looking for,
00:50 a party atmosphere here on Saturday.
00:52 So they'll want to come here and they'll want to ruin that.
00:54 So the boys will have to be on it.
00:57 Rhys and Ben won't let them standards slip.
00:59 They know that Saturday is an important day for the club with the community stuff we're doing.
01:04 So the boys will know that we've got to be on our best form,
01:09 because Potters Bar won't come here and roll over for us.
01:11 The team have had some success as of recent,
01:14 starting September strong with their FA Cup win over Hendon.
01:17 They now face Ithsmean Premier and coastal foes Folkestone and Victor.
01:22 And it's a Kent derby known for its marine-themed rivalry.
01:25 It's not that long ago, only Bank Holiday Monday, we went to Folkestone and lost 2-0.
01:40 So the boys will be looking for revenge.
01:42 I know Rhys and Ben, our management team, and Elliot there as well,
01:46 they'll be looking to get revenge,
01:48 because obviously we played really well down at Folkestone on Bank Holiday Monday,
01:51 we just didn't take our chances.
01:52 But being here in front of our own crowd, it'll be a big crowd hopefully as well.
01:57 And you know what the FA Cup's like, it can throw anything up.
02:00 But as Margate welcome their Hertfordshire opponents this weekend,
02:04 the Kent home crowd is expected to be a little more packed than usual.
02:08 Yeah, so we've decided as a club that we serve our local community,
02:11 that's really important to us.
02:13 We're based in Margate, some consider it a deprived area,
02:18 so we always want to give something back to our local community,
02:21 and that's what this Saturday is about.
02:23 It's a family fun day, all under 18s are free,
02:27 and of course they can bring in one adult with them for free as well.
02:30 So we're hoping for a really big attendance.
02:32 We've got some penalty shootouts at half-time,
02:35 I think we've got so many people signed up, we've got to have them won on both goals.
02:40 So that'll be a busy one.
02:41 We've got face painting for the children, and adults if they want it,
02:45 you know, come along and get your face painted.
02:47 Arts and crafts sessions in the Heartstown Bar,
02:50 so some fun activities there for the children that may be not so much interested
02:54 in the activities that are football related.
02:57 Yeah, it's something we're really looking forward to,
02:59 a lot of planning has gone into it, a lot of hard work,
03:01 and hopefully Saturday we'll see that pay off with a bumper crowd here,
03:05 and everyone enjoying their afternoon.
03:07 But again, ultimately the three points at the end of it.
03:11 And with a win this weekend,
03:12 the close mid-table of the Itamian Premier has the ability to dramatically shift.
03:16 (upbeat music)
