00:05 KC, it's so nice to see you again after a long while.
00:10 Actually, when I saw you the other day, I was like, "Oh my God, Kace, it's like we've been seeing each other for the last 10 years or more."
00:19 I know.
00:21 I know, it was so fun seeing everybody and seeing you.
00:25 I'm so glad that you were the first one to interview me. I'm very happy.
00:31 Oh my gosh, my memory flashed back. Was it Marawi?
00:39 I mean, I accompanied you, that was your first time with...
00:44 Yes, with UN World Food Program.
00:46 I think it was 2007 or 2008.
00:50 When I started my humanitarian journey with UN World Food Program or WFP, we went to Kota Bato.
00:59 That was my very first mission for WFP.
01:03 Mindanao was really our specialization for our missions to create sustainable programs for the communities in the south of Mindanao because it's a horse chicken area.
01:22 There are also a lot of schools there that need food for education. So we used food, hot meals, to bring children to school and keep them enrolled in school.
01:36 Because they get full every day when they go to school.
01:40 So that was the program that I specialized in, beginning with our first trip to Pikit Kota Bato.
01:46 And ever since then, I've been all around the Philippines, all around Mindanao, and also I've been to Nepal, Uganda, Africa to study how they do it there.
01:59 It was a very nice experience. I've been with the UN World Food Program for more than 12 years, 13 years already.
02:08 And until now, you're still doing these classes?
02:15 Yes, so now I got the WWF, World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines.
02:23 So I'm one of their newest ambassadors. I'm very happy about that.
02:28 It's about environment, nature, which for me, I love working with organizations that know what they're doing and they have a lot of connections and knowledge on how to do things.
02:41 So I'm still exploring a lot with that group. And coming from my experience with WFP, it's exciting because Tia Wurtzbach is also an ambassador.
02:53 The other day, you told me that you are into gemology and you have a jewelry business. What got you into this? Aside from, of course, you have a lot of memories.
03:05 No, actually, my grandmother, my mother, and my mom, I think a lot of women can relate.
03:13 Especially the big mantillas, somehow, there are a lot of available here. There are a lot of alaheras in Manila.
03:24 A lot of them travel. I'm not that kind of alahera who buys and sells.
03:30 Actually, I'm laughing. I'm joking, I'm an alahera now.
03:35 I was about to say that. Casey is an alahera now.
03:39 Yes, it's like that. But it's not the same.
03:44 For me, I like to design little by little. I design and then I release it for jewelry lovers like me who want to also have a piece of avec moi.
03:59 That's the name of your business, Avec Moi.
04:02 Yes, here in the Philippines, Avec Moi, friendship or with me.
04:07 Yes, so when you're with me, you're with me, or you're with your friends or loved ones, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your mom, or your brother,
04:21 then it's like a piece of you is with them when you're with them.
04:26 I don't know if I'm right. Because I see a lot of men who wear women's jewelry. I don't know why.
04:36 Pearls, even their mom's engagement ring, they wear it.
04:41 Yes.
04:43 What's happening?
04:45 It's a fashion statement. Style is personal.
04:50 I always say you don't have to buy the most expensive thing to have style.
04:54 You don't have to follow the trends all the time to say you're stylish.
04:58 A lot of people who wear vintage or people who wear pieces that are unexpected, for me, I love seeing that.
05:09 I'm friends with Jacques Bralek of Jewelmer.
05:15 How many years have they been exposing men to pearls?
05:23 And it's beautiful when men wear them with those leather bracelets and pearls.
05:31 It's a universal love language. Jewelry is a universal love language just like music.
05:38 It's your own design.
05:40 Yes. Well, the rose, it's not patented or anything.
05:48 But the fact that I used a rose in my first collection is symbolic for me.
05:54 So I was very happy to, you know, up to now I have orders even though I don't have any marketing or anything.
06:00 I'm just quiet. But every day, there are orders coming.
06:04 I'm happy with the support and the people who enjoy it.
06:09 Why not, right?
06:11 You go first, Kace. Is it expensive?
06:13 Actually, it's real gold. It's solid gold. 14 carats or 18 carats.
06:19 So don't expect the price of jewelry in fast fashion.
06:26 Because it's solid gold. As in, if you touch it, it's a bit heavy.
06:30 So in layman's terms, it's worth it.
06:34 Well, I hope not because that's my design.
06:39 I want you to see my collection.
06:41 I don't want to be hurt if I see it.
06:43 No, it's okay. It's just one.
06:45 But it's worth it.
06:47 Yes, yes. It has value in other words.
06:51 But what I'm doing is good for the fans who are forced to afford it.
07:02 It's not the price that you would think you're getting.
07:09 They told me, "You can still love this. The item is so beautiful."
07:16 They said, "You can still raise the price."
07:19 I said, "No, that's a sweet spot because I don't want to raise it for the fans if they're fans or not."
07:27 I'm just a fan.
07:29 So it's not the price of plated jewelry, right?
07:34 It's not the price of fancy jewelry.
07:37 But it's just the right price for what it is.
07:40 Because there are real diamonds, diamonds, and rosebud.
07:44 So it's really for collectors who like to exchange jewelry.
07:49 Where is this Avecmois? Where can we find this?
07:53 So on my Instagram, it's @avecmoijewelry.
07:57 That's our Instagram.
07:59 For now, I'm still there.
08:01 But word of mouth, I'm happy that people are happy when they buy.
08:07 They tell their stories and people are happy when they buy.
08:10 So I'm glad. It's a very limited edition collection.
08:15 But I'm looking forward to creating new...
08:21 I'm currently creating a new collection for the holidays.
08:25 So stay tuned, Kuya.
08:26 You know that it's designed by Casey Concepcion.
08:29 Also, for Snika.
08:31 But wait, aside from...
08:34 Of course, you're busy with Gemology, your business.
08:39 But you were robbed by Showbiz.
08:41 How did this happen?
08:46 We were just surprised.
08:48 Suddenly, Casey has a movie.
08:52 We did not even know that you were shooting this.
08:56 I was just quiet.
08:58 Asian persuasion.
09:00 You were persuaded.
09:02 I was persuaded.
09:04 You were persuaded.
09:06 I was persuaded by the producer and scriptwriter.
09:12 How did this come about, Casey?
09:14 I don't know.
09:16 I just posted an acting reel online.
09:21 At that time, I was still vlogging because I was living in LA.
09:30 You can see my vlog on my YouTube channel, Christina Concepcion.
09:35 When I first went to LA, it was still locked.
09:38 There were no work opportunities yet.
09:45 I thought, "I can go to America."
09:49 I thought, "I can't find any job opportunities here."
09:56 I decided to study.
09:58 I have a lot of cousins who are studying for a new course.
10:05 I decided to use this time to study.
10:09 I vlogged my journey to LA.
10:12 I showed you my apartment.
10:15 I set up my furniture and airbed.
10:19 I didn't have a bed yet.
10:21 I was trying to set up my airbed.
10:23 I was trying to lay down.
10:25 This is all DIY.
10:27 You're not a princess.
10:30 My friend, Javier, and Mika, who is JR's wife,
10:35 helped me because they also went to LA.
10:38 We were just sitting there and setting up.
10:42 We were assembling my furniture.
10:45 We were pushing boxes, throwing boxes, and doing laundry.
10:49 I was listening to that.
10:51 People were watching my vlog.
10:54 I decided to study more.
11:02 I started studying before I set up the business in 2018.
11:07 I pursued a diploma for an applied jewelry professional with GIA.
11:15 I studied the basics of diamond essentials, colored stone essentials, and jewelry essentials.
11:22 I was certified with GIA.
11:26 I decided to continue because it has a 9-month or 1-year program.
11:32 I decided to finish it.
11:35 I didn't finish it yet because I got a call.
11:40 "Can you fly to New York? Are you willing to shoot a movie? Do you want to read the script?"
11:46 "Do you want to..."
11:48 Okay, okay, okay.
11:50 Movie.
11:51 With that, I'll be in New York for a week.
11:55 We'll be shooting.
11:57 Does your mom have a bus?
12:02 Yes. Thankfully, for my very first international project,
12:07 I'm happy that my mom has a blessing.
12:11 She's always wanted me to do something internationally.
12:16 I hope that this makes her happy.
12:19 I hope that she really sees my hard work.
12:23 Because everything that they told me to do, I did.
12:28 I finished college.
12:29 I'm working here.
12:31 I really gave up on my studies because I don't want to disappoint my mom.
12:38 And then, you know, everything she told me to do, I did.
12:42 So, I'm happy.
12:43 It really feels different when your mom has a blessing.
12:47 So, in other words, she has a blessing.
12:51 And the movie is also happy. It's just light.
12:55 I saw the trailer.
12:57 It's so light.
12:59 There's still more to come later on.
13:05 It's just a festival.
13:07 But yes, you saw it.
13:09 Yeah, I saw it.
13:11 I said, "Wow, I hope Kasey can do more movies."
13:15 I think there's some sort of hatred towards me.
13:19 Kasey's hair is so messy. She's not doing movies.
13:22 Oh, this is the start.
13:25 This is it.
13:27 Yes, so I'm actually very happy because I have two inquiries from another international production.
13:37 So, I'm really excited.
13:39 Oh my gosh.
13:40 To let you know that I can't forget you.
13:43 Of course, I'm really quiet compared to others.
13:47 I'm not really noisy in what I do.
13:51 So, I hope the viewers will appreciate my movie.
13:55 Oh, I know.
13:57 I told you, I'm excited.
13:59 Even if it's my first English movie or acting project.
14:06 It's hard.
14:07 Of course, English is part of your first language.
14:11 Actually, I started with theater.
14:16 If you remember, I was 16 years old when I did Little Mermaid with Atlantis Productions in theater.
14:23 And then I was 19 years old when I did the Manila cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
14:32 I played Belle in the Taralco Theater.
14:35 And those were my first two acting projects.
14:41 I really started with musical theater.
14:44 So, the last time I did an acting project that was pure English was Beauty and the Beast.
14:53 You were only 19 years old.
14:56 So, ABS-CBN asked me to do a workshop for my Tagalog.
15:04 Although I'm fluent, I think my accent was Americanized Tagalog.
15:11 So, I did a workshop for my Tagalog.
15:16 I was really fluent.
15:19 And so, getting an English script was like reversing everything I had to learn.
15:26 Because it's a different language.
15:29 So, your acting is different when you use Tagalog.
15:33 And it's different when you use English.
15:36 There's a shift in the attitude of Tagalog.
15:39 It's not natural anymore.
15:42 If you watch Spanish films or Italian films versus French films and Hollywood American films,
15:52 people's acting is different because the expression is different.
15:58 Yeah.
15:59 That's why they say body language is a language.
16:03 Because before you speak, you have to say your actions.
16:09 Yeah.
16:10 So, that was great.
16:11 Did you have a hard time?
16:12 Actually, the takes were fast.
16:18 So, there were adjustments.
16:22 There were adjustments.
16:24 The difference in acting in the teleseries, everything is always high level.
16:32 It's not as intense when you use English.
16:39 It's more natural.
16:43 It's faster.
16:46 There are crashes.
16:48 That's what I love about acting.
16:49 I've seen it growing up with my mom on set.
16:52 I've seen it through the years that I've been workshopped in Tala Chabock and ABS.
16:59 On set, you learn from fellow actors.
17:03 I've learned a lot in terms of acting as a craft.
17:10 But wait, where can we watch Asian Persuasion?
17:18 In two weeks, we'll be going to New York.
17:22 The world premiere of Asian Persuasion is in New York at the Soho Film Festival.
17:30 To all my film friends, New Yorkers, or if you're just in the US,
17:37 please feel free to fly over to Manhattan, New York City.
17:42 You can watch Asian Persuasion on September 16 and 17 in New York.
17:49 It's going to be on my Instagram, the location.
17:55 Keep us posted.
17:58 September 16 at 7pm is our world premiere.
18:01 Sunday, September 17 at 2pm, we'll see you there.
18:05 After New York, September 28, we're going to be in Richmond.
18:10 October 8 in San Diego.
18:12 In the Philippines, the premiere here will be in select theaters nationwide in SM Cinemas.
18:23 That's going to be November 27, premiere night.
18:26 The play dates will start on November 29.
18:30 We'll be touring America as an American production.
18:34 But we'll be coming back here in November.
18:37 You won't be allowed to leave.
18:41 Yes, I'm here. I need to be here.
18:47 At least that's going to keep you busy in the next two months.
18:54 Yes. And then, of course, apart from that, my mom and dad's concert in Moho Arena.
19:02 I just want to tell you this.
19:03 I have been, your mom knows this, I have been a Sharon Gaby fan ever since I was 16.
19:10 Oh my God! Thank you!
19:12 She knows that.
19:13 And I keep on reminding her every time I see her.
19:16 I'm sorry, I'm a fanboy every time we meet.
19:23 You may kiss me and hug me, but I feel like, oh my gosh, I'm not worthy.
19:29 And your dad, with GMA also, right?
19:33 When we meet, he's like, "Gaby too?"
19:38 This one time, he said to me, "Why are you so aloof to me?"
19:43 I said, "No, I'm not aloof. I'm a fanboy because I'm from afar."
19:47 You know, sometimes, we feel like, "Why is he like that? Why is he so grumpy? He's a fan."
19:56 So, there's a moment where we say, "Why does he not like us anymore?"
20:00 He's a super major fan.
20:02 So, thank you.
20:04 That's so nice. The more the years go by, the more I understand about the world and this world,
20:14 the more I appreciate people like you who have been with us.
20:20 I say "us" because they're my parents.
20:24 And it's so special to have people support from the beginning
20:30 and who know the story of my parents more than me.
20:34 And yeah, so, I said, when we were talking about the concept of the concert,
20:40 I said, "Oh my God, can I just sit in the audience? I need to learn my history.
20:47 I need to understand where I came from.
20:49 And there are so many stories that happened to me that I didn't know happened.
20:53 It happened!"
20:55 You know, the first time I saw the silhouette of the concert,
21:01 you remember, there was a teaser for the concert in Billboard, I think.
21:05 But I saw the silhouette on social media.
21:09 I said, "Oh my God, this is Sharon Gaby."
21:11 I didn't know who she was, what she was for.
21:17 And I said, "Oh my God, this is Sharon Gaby. This is their silhouette."
21:21 Because, I don't know, ma'am.
21:24 Well, I haven't told Sharon this.
21:26 I used to have clippings.
21:28 Because you used to buy magazines, right?
21:30 Yes, and notebooks.
21:32 Yes, and I used to stick them on my notebook.
21:34 And I have, I don't know, maybe my best friend Marion Brodick can very well relate to this.
21:42 Because we were two fans and we were collecting those.
21:46 I don't know, when I grew up, I already found those.
21:51 It would have been nice if I moved house and I didn't see her anymore.
21:57 It would have been nice if I showed Sharon.
21:59 I said, "This is what I went through."
22:02 You can still find those.
22:03 I removed a lot from storage.
22:06 I found a lot when I was 9 years old.
22:08 My dad still wrote to me, "Did you find it?"
22:12 I said, "It's really important to look at your old stuff.
22:16 There are a lot of important things that you'll be happy to see again."
22:21 So, I said, "Thank you."
22:24 More and more, I really, really value people like you who truly love their team up.
22:33 And you know who also, who followed our lives.
22:37 Because that's the only person I can hold on to in my life.
22:43 You know, the people that really were with us on our journey.
22:47 So, thank you for that.
22:49 And this concert is a big revelation for me as well.
22:54 You said you were part of the concert.
22:57 Can I know what you'll do here at the concert?
23:02 Secret!
23:04 Maybe you're the producer.
23:07 I don't know anything about it.
23:11 We have a final meeting for the final, final concept.
23:17 But we also did a lot to build the script.
23:22 In fact, this is really their concert.
23:26 But, you know, for me, it's...
23:30 But you're the link.
23:31 So, you need to be there.
23:33 [Laughs]
23:35 Yes, I didn't realize my role until they talked to me about the concert.
23:44 Yes, you can't be absent because Sharon Gaby fans will complain, like me,
23:50 "Where's KC? Where's KC?"
23:53 [Laughs]
23:55 Well, thank you.
23:57 It's in the works.
23:59 But it's ready.
24:00 Even if they present it tomorrow.
24:02 Actually, Mama and Papa haven't seen it yet.
24:05 They won't see it until the rehearsals.
24:09 Even when the poster is out, they won't see it.
24:14 That's right.
24:15 Because the poster you took is different.
24:18 They're different.
24:20 Excuse me, my mom really got sexy.
24:22 She's a young girl.
24:24 Look at that.
24:25 I said, "How can people believe that you gave birth to me?"
24:29 And you're like...
24:30 Why?
24:31 You look so much younger than ever before.
24:38 Because you're living a healthy life.
24:42 And you're not paying.
24:45 So, she's so beautiful.
24:47 I'm really beautiful to my mom.
24:49 Especially on the concert stage, I'm really beautiful to her.
24:54 My favorite version of my mom is the concert version.
25:00 Yes.
25:01 I cannot imagine my mom without a mic and not singing on stage.
25:08 It's really my favorite version of her.
25:12 You know, this excited me.
25:14 When you told me the other day,
25:17 "Kuya Nelson, it's going to be tear-filled."
25:21 "That concert. Just watch out."
25:25 Good tears.
25:28 Good tears.
25:30 And you said, "It's going to be a show about forgiveness, about love, about..."
25:39 Oh gosh, I said it.
25:40 "Just take my money. I'm there."
25:42 It's going to be a show.
25:45 It's really exciting.
25:47 And it's a very sensitive topic for me especially because it's my real life.
25:55 So, it's not just a show or concert for me.
25:58 So, it's really a groundbreaking moment for me.
26:03 The fact that there are people talking about rehearsals and everything.
26:09 Wow.
26:10 I said, "I never imagined that it would happen."
26:14 And I'm glad that it's going to happen now.
26:18 Now that I'm in my 30s.
26:20 I don't think I can handle this if I'm only 22.
26:25 Oh my God, I don't think I can move if I'm already in my 30s.
26:29 You know, it's a very special time for me.
26:33 Especially as their only daughter.
26:36 Yes.
26:37 Together.
26:38 I want to ask you.
26:39 You know, let's get personal.
26:41 I've always been interested.
26:43 How is it being KC?
26:45 Because you're the only artist that I know.
26:50 I've seen your day-old pictures in the magazine.
26:59 Really?
27:00 I told you, it's in that compilation.
27:03 It's in that notebook.
27:05 When your mom gave birth.
27:08 And the following day, all of your pictures are in the drawer.
27:14 I remember you even had a cover in your eyes.
27:18 Really?
27:19 Oh my God, look at this.
27:20 This is the one that I installed.
27:22 I told you.
27:23 There.
27:24 You have a cover in your eyes.
27:25 And your mom was even offended.
27:27 She said it's very offending.
27:30 Because people are, you know, tabloids are saying that Sharon's child might get a breakup.
27:36 That's why there's a cover.
27:37 So you know, even those details, I can still remember.
27:42 Really?
27:45 I just realized that I've had the opportunity to experience both worlds.
28:00 The world that is the normal world, just like everyone else, just like any other girl, just like everyone else.
28:09 To be ordinary.
28:12 I find it hard to believe.
28:15 Because everywhere you go, there's a Filipino.
28:18 And they will always recognize you.
28:22 Yes, but you know, I'm not the only one that's been placed in a situation where you grow up not really understanding the history of
28:38 your family or not understanding the world that you were born in unknowingly.
28:47 I'm not the only one.
28:49 But I realized more and more that there aren't many like this.
28:58 I counted the showbiz royalties in my hand.
29:03 Well, I tagged them as showbiz royalties.
29:06 The second generation for me.
29:09 But how is it? Since day one, you've been in the public eye.
29:15 Of course, people love you and of course, there's scrutiny.
29:20 How is it for you?
29:23 I mean, it's hard to answer that because I don't know any other life.
29:29 This is my own and these are the cards I've been dealt with.
29:33 But definitely from my observation, I'm very self-aware.
29:38 I try my best to really reflect on my life and reflect on my responsibilities.
29:44 And you know, I'm not perfect.
29:47 I make mistakes.
29:49 And there was a time I felt I was not allowed to make mistakes.
29:53 But I think I gave myself permission to make mistakes.
29:57 Because that's the only way you can grow and grow up and be a better person.
30:03 You cannot be a better person if you're a perfect person.
30:06 And you have to be imperfect to be better than ever.
30:12 It was a journey for me, most definitely.
30:14 Maybe I can write a book one day.
30:16 You should.
30:17 About what it's like to grow up like this.
30:20 But I think I didn't realize until later on that I already had a role from the moment I was born.
30:29 I mean, I may not be part of something like British royalty.
30:35 That's a whole different level.
30:38 But somehow, the idea that you were born in front of people's eyes.
30:45 People know your family.
30:48 We have people who love us.
30:51 We're very thankful to have supporters and people who have grown up with us.
30:59 And see how we live our lives and learn from us as well.
31:03 It's nice to have the opportunity also to understand what you can do to affect other people.
31:14 And I didn't really understand that growing up.
31:17 For me, showbiz is our life.
31:21 I mean, not showbiz but the people, being public.
31:26 It's a part of life.
31:28 I had eras where I couldn't accept why everyone had to be announced.
31:33 Why everyone had to have an opinion.
31:35 Why everyone had to be there to celebrate my mom's birthday privately.
31:43 But it didn't happen until you made it publicly.
31:47 That's how it was.
31:49 Before the era of social media, it never happened if you didn't say it in a jar.
31:56 Or on TV.
31:58 Why didn't it happen unless it was announced?
32:02 Why?
32:03 It's like, you know.
32:05 And I was very resentful before.
32:08 I'm private.
32:09 Because I'm quiet.
32:11 I like to be private sometimes.
32:13 But now, it's the other way around.
32:16 I don't get mad if I don't share my happy moments with our supporters.
32:22 You have a deeper understanding now.
32:24 Yes.
32:25 This life you were born into.
32:27 Yes.
32:32 The world of politics and showbiz are two of the most high intensity worlds.
32:42 And I have both in our family.
32:46 You know.
32:47 So, there's a lot of things that are important for us to take into consideration.
32:54 For a normal person who didn't grow up with these circumstances,
33:03 for them, they don't understand why it's still necessary.
33:07 Because it's for security reasons.
33:11 Also, it's for...
33:13 So, it's a very special situation to be put in.
33:19 And I think the best is for people to feel that we're also like them.
33:28 And I think my vlog helps a lot for people to get to know me.
33:33 And for them to feel they can also see light through my eyes.
33:38 You know.
33:39 And there's a human being in there.
33:43 Because sometimes, they think that I'm just an artist.
33:49 And you know, it's not because we're artists.
33:52 Because I've heard that there are artists among other artists.
33:56 Say something.
33:57 She's an artist.
33:59 She should know that they're talking about her because she's an artist.
34:03 But when I hear that, in a way, it's true.
34:07 But at the same time, it's hard because we're just humans.
34:12 Right?
34:13 I always say this.
34:15 The artists, for me,
34:18 well, again, this may be an unpopular opinion.
34:21 But for me, this has been my guiding thing.
34:25 That artists are public figures.
34:29 They're not public property.
34:32 I mean, you may spend on merch.
34:35 You may spend on the ticket.
34:38 Seeing their movies.
34:40 You may spend on whatever that's connected to them.
34:43 But you don't buy the humanity.
34:46 You don't buy the human in the artist.
34:49 There's a line.
34:51 There's a divide.
34:52 They give a service.
34:54 They do the shooting.
34:56 For you to enjoy.
34:58 For you to be entertained.
35:00 That's why you buy.
35:01 But of course, we always say,
35:04 we're here because of them.
35:07 But just like we respect them,
35:10 I hope it's the same.
35:12 We're just humans.
35:16 We're all humans.
35:20 We all have our shortcomings.
35:22 And it doesn't mean you're perfect.
35:26 In fact, I am very,
35:30 not open, but very honest.
35:33 About certain things that are good and bad in my life.
35:39 I've learned now that I'm in my 30s,
35:41 that it's okay for people to see that you're not perfect.
35:45 It's okay.
35:46 It's even better.
35:48 Is there any part of your life that you would like to rewrite?
35:53 Do you have the power to do so?
35:55 Wow!
35:59 Good question.
36:00 [laughs]
36:02 For Miss Universe, right?
36:04 [laughs]
36:06 I mean, of course there are.
36:11 I really would like for my mom and I to be best friends again.
36:19 There's a lot of years that have gone by
36:23 that we had distractions.
36:27 And I know later on in life, we will be better than ever.
36:31 We will never lose our love for each other.
36:35 And maybe one day,
36:39 when I get married and have a child,
36:44 I would like to have children in the future.
36:46 I think that will bring my mom and I closer than ever.
36:49 And I want her to know that I love her so much.
36:55 And I'm loyal to her.
36:58 You're her first and last Sharon.
37:01 Yes, and she's my blood.
37:05 And I'm not the grandmother that we raised.
37:14 She's a lot more.
37:15 You know?
37:17 So, that's all.
37:20 So, I'm excited for this concert.
37:23 I'm more excited for the case.
37:27 I want to go.
37:29 Sharon's dream is to be in a way like,
37:32 "Oh my God, is this why I'm here?"
37:36 Right?
37:37 I feel like...
37:38 I never would have thought this would happen.
37:40 I really didn't expect this.
37:44 I remember, I'm happy when I see the live action of
37:49 Beauty and the Beast,
37:51 then Little Mermaid, then Balthez 5.
37:54 I was like, "Wow, this happened in my lifetime."
37:56 And then, Sharon Gaby concert.
37:58 I hope it's super-hero.
38:00 In my 50s?
38:01 Really?
38:02 And then live action.
38:06 Yes, and I'll lose all the live action, promise.
38:09 I'm happy.
38:13 I'm happy.
38:14 Indulge me.
38:16 Let's talk about your love life.
38:19 Oh, no!
38:21 I don't want to match the level of my parents' love life.
38:27 It's not like a movie.
38:29 But this is new.
38:31 We just met recently.
38:34 So, it's really nice to get to know someone,
38:37 to have someone be there in my everyday,
38:40 and to really have someone also to share my happiness with.
38:46 We haven't talked about our next step yet.
38:49 It's still new.
38:51 I don't have anything to tell.
38:53 It's not cinematic.
38:56 It's not exciting, the story of my mom and dad.
39:00 Which makes it uniquely beautiful.
39:03 Yes.
39:04 And you said the other day,
39:06 "It's my first time to feel that I can have a private life."
39:12 I said, "This is the feeling that you're just nurturing your friendship,
39:17 or the one you have, and no other distraction."
39:21 You know, you would want the person to get to know you for you,
39:25 not really for the artist, you.
39:28 So, I'm very careful not to put anything out there too much
39:34 because later, you know,
39:37 You'll be led by people.
39:40 You'll be led by what you are instead of who you are.
39:43 I don't want that.
39:44 That's true, also.
39:45 Well, we will accord you that privacy.
39:49 For now, Kace.
39:50 For now.
39:51 Too many things are happening.
39:55 Hopefully, we'll see.
39:58 Kace, I always end my podcast by turning the tables around.
40:09 You're the one who will ask me any question that comes into your mind.
40:14 Wow.
40:16 I think the question is,
40:19 of all of the journalism, all of the people you've talked to,
40:25 all of the people that you've met here in this industry,
40:29 knowing where we are now after everything that's happened since 2020,
40:34 what would you like to see more of in the youth of today?
40:38 I'm tense.
40:40 No, because you know,
40:42 you know, in the youth of today,
40:44 I see a lot of people who believe in fake news.
40:48 It has always been there.
40:50 Of course, there are magazines in my time,
40:53 there are magazines who write fake news,
40:56 there are tabloids who write fake news,
40:58 but before, there were talk shows that were straight from the person's mouth.
41:07 Now, there are avenues like that.
41:12 Of course, you have a vlog,
41:14 but you just keep talking about it.
41:18 I hope the youth of today is more discerning, as we were before.
41:25 Back then, I was the one who really opened,
41:30 to be honest,
41:32 the one who really opened the showbiz in my mind was,
41:36 of course, being a fan of your mom and dad.
41:40 I learned the science of showbiz on how,
41:46 because of course, if you follow how they were interviewed,
41:53 how they deliver interviews when they're written,
41:57 so there's a science to it.
41:59 And somehow, I learned that.
42:03 I don't have a formal training case.
42:06 I took up business management in college,
42:11 but because of my personal experiences,
42:15 I knew how to write stories.
42:19 I knew how to write a story for TV,
42:22 a story for print,
42:25 and that's it.
42:28 So, they were the ones who really opened up to me.
42:31 And I hope the youth of today would have that interest
42:37 on how to know the truth,
42:41 instead of just believing.
42:44 This is the first time I've heard somebody say science of showbiz.
42:50 In elevator pitch, right?
42:54 If you can explain it to me,
42:56 or someone who doesn't know what the science of showbiz is,
43:00 how do you describe it?
43:02 What is the science of showbiz?
43:06 Why is it important to learn about news?
43:11 Show business is business.
43:14 An artist is, well, for the lack of a better term, a commodity.
43:20 So, how do you make it look good to the public?
43:25 How do you make it look good and then make it look good?
43:28 So, one tool is an interview.
43:32 One tool is, what? Movies.
43:35 One tool, it's different.
43:37 There's a lot of facets to it in being an artist.
43:41 And you need to be careful on how,
43:45 like in chess, right?
43:46 What will you forward?
43:48 What will you let go?
43:49 And, right?
43:51 There are managers who are really good at it
43:54 because they're not the ones who just stop you,
43:56 "Wah, don't get interviewed."
43:58 That's great.
44:00 Actually, that's true.
44:01 And going back to your question,
44:04 what's it like being Casey Concepcion?
44:06 That's what I was like,
44:08 "Wow, I was born.
44:11 Am I a commodity now?"
44:13 Because in my mind, I'm just a person.
44:16 No, we're all,
44:17 like my business teacher said before,
44:23 we're all commodities.
44:26 And because we see ourselves,
44:29 we have value.
44:31 That's a corporate workforce.
44:34 You need to have something to give to that company
44:40 that others can't give.
44:42 So, yes, definitely in any field,
44:44 even if it's not showbiz,
44:46 we're commodities.
44:48 That's it.
44:50 It's up to you.
44:51 I remember he said,
44:53 "It's up to you how you look at commodities,
44:56 if it has a high value or a low value."
45:01 Because sometimes,
45:03 the advantage is if the value is low
45:06 because a lot of people want to buy.
45:10 Sometimes, the advantage is if the value is high
45:13 because no one can afford it
45:15 and everybody's aspiring for that.
45:18 So, it's up to you.
45:19 It's your choice how you play the business,
45:23 how you play the commodity.
45:26 I prefer the things we learn.
45:29 So, that's really nice.
45:30 Actually, it's looking at things from a bigger perspective.
45:34 And we all learn from each other.
45:36 At the end of the day,
45:37 commodity, business or not,
45:39 we are all human beings doing life together.
45:43 And we can learn from each other
45:45 how to play your cards best.
45:51 Because there's no right or wrong when playing cards.
45:57 The right way to play your cards
46:00 is knowing what you're going to do next
46:04 and what your opponent will do.
46:06 Thank you, Nelson.
46:07 And I just hope that the supporters and everybody
46:12 who watched my video,
46:14 that we can all continue on this adventure of life together.
46:19 I'll do my best also to share what I can with you.
46:23 Thank you very much.
46:24 Thank you very much.
46:25 [Music]
