Brian Kelly: Grambling Week (Opening Statement)
Transcript
00:00 We moved to Grambling, excited about a home game, obviously,
00:03 and playing in front of our home fans.
00:05 Clearly, an HBCU school like Grambling,
00:11 one of the historic programs in college football,
00:14 we all would identify Grambling with the great history
00:20 of titles and national titles and certainly great players
00:25 in Buchanan and Doug Williams and certainly
00:29 the great Eddie Robinson.
00:31 So Hall of Famers and Willie Brown, I could go on and on.
00:36 This is exciting.
00:37 I know for anybody that follows college football,
00:41 to top it off, it's a school in state as well.
00:45 So I know our team is excited about getting back out there
00:49 and playing the game the way it's
00:52 intended to be played for four quarters, not for two quarters.
00:57 Hugh Jackson, I think, is an NFL head coach
01:02 that has had great experience now coming
01:04 into the college ranks, well-respected.
01:07 I respect what he's been able to do.
01:10 This is a reworking of his roster in one year.
01:13 This is a totally different looking football team.
01:18 They lost to Hampton in a really good match,
01:21 and Hampton's a good football team.
01:22 So he's got a club that's going to be much improved
01:27 over last year, and they do some really good things.
01:30 Some nice players, the Crawley kids,
01:32 a transfer from Alabama State.
01:36 He had over 300 yards.
01:38 They've got some guys on their roster from Baton Rouge
01:42 in their two deep, some guys from Louisiana
01:45 that will be undoubtedly anxious to get into Tiger Stadium
01:49 and play.
01:51 Matthews on defense.
01:52 They've got some nice defensive linemen
01:54 that can rush the quarterback.
01:57 So it'll be an exciting opportunity for us
02:00 to take care of what we need to take care of,
02:03 and that's play this game the right way.
02:07 As I said, winning's hard, and you've
02:09 got to do all the things necessary to make sure
02:13 that you represent the LSU brand and the history
02:22 of this program the right way, and we'll get that going.
