00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 Campaigners have criticised the Council Planning Committee's approval for a large housing development near Chesterfield,
00:09 following claims that some committee members appeared to question whether there would be repercussions from the local authority depending on their decision.
00:16 Despite some councillors having sympathy for residents' objections to the plans,
00:20 the committee granted planning approval for the development after it had been recommended for approval by planning officers,
00:25 and after two councillors appeared to have raised concerns about whether the decision the committee made might result in repercussions.
00:32 Now, Keith Oxby of Long Duckmonton has written to the Council to lodge a formal complaint over the decision and to call for an investigation.
00:39 Chesterfield Borough Councillors confirmed to Mr Oxby that it would carry out an initial review into his complaint.
00:44 A Chesterfield Borough Council spokesperson said,
00:47 "The Council has received formal complaints relating to the Planning Committee meetings of Monday July 24th and Monday August 21st.
00:54 These complaints are being considered in line with the Council's complaints policy.
00:58 It would be inappropriate to comment on these complaints until they have been resolved."
01:03 After a resounding success during its debut in Chesterfield,
01:07 next year's Eat in the Park event promises to be bigger, better and more entertaining than ever before according to organisers.
01:13 They have confirmed the dates for the 2024 event in Queen's Park, which will take place on August 3rd and 4th,
01:19 and tickets have already gone on sale for the event, which combines live music, family entertainment and a range of gourmet and street food from cuisines across the world.
