00:00 And it wasn't great.
00:01 I mean, we're just gonna be real about that.
00:04 It wasn't great.
00:05 And if Ole Miss struggles with this game, it could be, let's say, problematic.
00:10 But I don't anticipate them to do that.
00:13 Now, Mercer against North Alabama beat the North Alabama Lions.
00:17 And I'm sure Ole Miss baseball fans are shuddering a little bit
00:20 hearing North Alabama Lions.
00:21 But the Mercer Bears beat the North Alabama Lions 17 to 7.
00:27 Mercer is ranked like 22nd in the FCS poll.
00:31 They are a good football team.
00:33 This is not a good result.
00:35 North Alabama was not a good team in the last season.
00:40 So maybe this was a situation that Mercer was overlooking the North Alabama Lions
00:46 and get ready for their game in Oxford next weekend.
00:49 The quarterback was Carter Peavy, 12 to 17, 115 yards and a touchdown.
00:56 They did not throw the ball very much.
00:57 They ran for about 170 yards.
01:01 Receiving wise, obviously they hit 115.
01:05 But the player that everybody needs to pay attention to,
01:09 and this is the one that could be a game-breaker in this game,
01:13 is Devron Harper.
01:14 Phil Steele rated him as an NFL draft pick as a kick returner.
01:19 He's somebody that could turn out.
01:21 So with Ole Miss in the punt game, Ole Miss in the kickoff game,
01:25 although I don't anticipate many kickoffs because our kickoff guy,
01:30 I think Kaden Davis is his name, from what I hear,
01:34 is pretty consistently putting the ball in the end zone.
01:37 He has a pretty big-time leg.
01:39 But the punt return game with Frazier Mason, Ole Miss needs to be on it.
01:42 Now I don't anticipate Mercer being that big of a deal going forward,
01:47 but if they are, there's probably something that is going to happen
01:52 in the special teams game and with Devron Harper as a returner.
01:57 Again, it wasn't much to look at.
02:03 I mean, we watched the Week Zero.
02:06 Most everybody watched the Week Zero,
02:08 but I found out in that North Alabama versus Mercer game,
02:11 I'm probably not the level of sicko that I think I am,
02:15 because I do think other people watched that game cover to cover
02:19 that weren't North Alabama or Mercer fans,
02:22 I made it about a quarter and a half.
02:24 Now Mercer had trouble stopping the quarterback run game.
02:27 I do not want Jackson Dart being a quarterback runner in this game, period.
02:33 I want them to play Mercer as straight up as humanly possible.
02:37 I want Ole Miss' athletes to do what they need to do,
02:41 and I want the second half Walker Howard and Austin Simmons
02:45 to get the reps that they need to get ready for 2024.
02:49 That's what I want to have happen.
02:51 We are going to have the voice of the Mercer Bears on the show
02:54 a little bit later on this week.
