00:01 This is not the NBA, you know, this is FIBA.
00:04 We're gonna need all 12.
00:05 It's gonna be a different guy every night.
00:07 Paulo came off the bench and was amazing,
00:10 you know, knocking down a couple threes,
00:11 but also the physicality, the shot blocks.
00:13 But the whole second unit really came in
00:15 and righted the ship after that slow start.
00:18 But we feel good about that.
00:19 Every game that we've had,
00:21 that whole group with Austin and Tyrese
00:23 and the ball movement,
00:24 the change of pace that we have with that group,
00:27 it's really fun to watch.
00:28 I did not consider a lineup change at halftime.
00:31 This was sort of a typical first game,
00:33 whether it's FIBA or the NCAA tournament,
00:36 you know, that you get the first game jitters.
00:38 And, you know, one of the things
00:39 that we've talked to our team about a little bit
00:41 is how excited everybody else is gonna be
00:43 to play against us.
00:44 New Zealand came out and hit us in the mouth
00:46 and, you know, they were great.
00:48 And that's good.
00:48 It's good for us to feel.
00:49 The other stuff, pregame photo and all that,
00:52 I mean, that's just part of the pomp and circumstance,
00:55 you know, so you get that out of the way
00:57 and you move on to the next game.
00:59 - They love the Lakers out here.
01:00 So I kind of seen it coming.
01:02 You know, it's special for me,
01:03 you know, from a super small town, obviously.
01:05 Not a lot of people expected me to be here
01:07 representing our country.
01:08 So for them to accept me the way that they accept me,
01:11 you know, it means a lot to me.
01:11 - It's a very different game.
01:12 The rules are different.
01:14 You know, the interpretations of rules are different.
01:17 Physicality, eight minutes shorter.
01:19 There's a lot of different aspects to FIBA.
01:22 And that was part of the focus
01:23 for the first two weeks of practice,
01:26 with these guys, was trying to help them
01:28 understand the differences between the NBA and FIBA.
01:30 So we're still learning those differences
01:32 and we'll still learn each game
01:34 and we'll get a better feel for everything.
01:35 But I love the way these guys have responded
01:38 and started to figure out the flow of the FIBA game
01:41 compared to the NBA.
01:42 - Every kid wants to be at this stage.
01:46 And you know, I was one of those kids,
01:48 watching the World Cup, the Olympics.
01:50 So every day I wake up and I cherish those moments
01:54 and I don't take them for granted.
01:55 You know, I get to play with this much talent.
01:58 It makes it easy for me,
02:00 just because everybody's selfless.
02:02 There's no egos on the team.
02:04 And yeah, it's just been real fun for me.
02:07 - I love watching these guys grow.
02:10 It's not like they're untested.
02:12 You know, this guy kicked our butt in the playoffs
02:16 a few months ago.
02:16 He may be young.
02:18 You know, Paolo may be young.
02:19 Go down the list.
02:20 We've got some young guys,
02:21 but we've got guys who can play
02:23 and who have proven it in the NBA playoffs.
02:26 They're fearless.
02:26 Love watching them play.
02:28 It's been an absolute joy to coach them
02:30 just because of their eagerness to play together
02:33 and to be selfless and to compete.
02:36 So it's really been a lot of fun to coach them
02:39 and I have great confidence in them.
