Dallas Cowboys' Sam Williams of Ole Miss Arrested on Weapons and Drugs Charge

00:00 Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams is in trouble again.

00:11 The Dallas Cowboys vowed that they'd done their homework on Sam Williams before selecting

00:16 him in the 2022 NFL Draft, but the talented defensive end is once again in trouble with

00:23 the law here in Frisco.

00:26 Williams reportedly arrested over the weekend on charges of controlled substance and weapons.

00:34 This according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which notes that Frisco police arrested Williams

00:38 for possession of marijuana, which is a low-level state felony, and the unlawful carrying of

00:43 a weapon, which is a misdemeanor.

00:46 As a rookie late in the 2022 season, Williams missed a game after he was injured in a car

00:52 crash.

00:53 He told a handful of stories about what happened and he had just purchased a new car and then

00:59 crashed it.

01:00 And if you've seen pictures of that particular car and that crash, it looks like everybody's

01:05 lucky to have come out of that thing alive.

01:09 Again, told some different stories about what happened there.

01:12 In the end, he is charged and cited for reckless driving.

01:18 And for a moment there, the police issued a warrant for his arrest.

01:22 They later said with the purpose simply of contacting him.

01:26 Cowboys picked the Ole Miss product Williams in the second round of that draft.

01:31 Despite what we will call character concerns, there were some sexual harassment allegations

01:43 in college, character concerns that had some other teams taking him off their draft boards

01:47 entirely, we were told.

01:49 Dallas owner Jerry Jones eventually announced that the team had done enough homework on

01:53 Williams behavior and his behavioral history to feel it was quote, satisfied with its evaluation.

02:00 Williams has talked of registering a 10 sack season this year as part of a very good Dallas

02:06 rotation at defensive end led by Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

02:11 That really does figure to be among the best in the NFL.

02:15 But now this arrest, and we can call it only a misdemeanor or only a low level felony,

02:21 but this arrest will mean an investigation by the NFL and it could mean at its discretion,

02:27 an NFL suspension of Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams.
