00:00 Hi guys and welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Prameet and today what we are driving is the all-new
00:09 Lexus NX 350h.
00:11 Now obviously the previous generation NX was fantastic looking, was good, but this is even
00:18 better.
00:19 So let's quickly start this video and I'll tell you everything you need to know about
00:22 this SUV.
00:23 Let's start off with the price first of all, so the new NX 350h, that is the all-wheel-drive,
00:34 this comes with an all-wheel-drive variant, so this has three variants and the prices
00:39 start at around 67 lakh rupees ex-showroom and goes all the way up to the 74 lakh rupees
00:44 for the F Sport variant.
00:47 So these are the ex-showroom prices and now let's talk about the car, so very first thing
00:53 you notice at the front is the typical Lexus grille, the typical Lexus finishing and the
00:58 spindle grille looks really fantastic, you have the Lexus logo right on the centre and
01:03 just behind the logo you have the radar for the ADAS features and you have a camera as
01:09 well.
01:10 So if you notice that the headlight unit has now become a single cluster in the previous
01:15 generation NX, the DRLs were placed on top, the headlight was placed on the bumper, so
01:20 now you can notice that the entire thing is one unit and you have separate fog lights,
01:25 that's also a projector, again, very bright, these are adaptive LED headlights, extremely
01:30 bright if you use it in the auto mode, they will do wonders on the road and they actually
01:36 work very well, especially the adaptive lights when the traffic is coming or if someone is
01:41 ahead of you, it'll basically block that part and the rest of the part will be lit up, it's
01:45 actually visible too much when you're on a dark road.
01:50 So yeah, and coming to the fog light housing, you can see that the fog light housing looks
01:55 like bumper extensions, but the bumper itself looks very sporty, makes the car really, really
02:00 sporty from the front, especially in this colour with the matte black, gloss black and
02:05 the red overall finishing, the car looks really sporty from the front end.
02:08 Moving on to the side profile, you get body cladding, you get a 20-inch alloy wheel, absolutely
02:14 low profile tyres, that's why you have a little bit of tyre noise over here, but overall the
02:18 stance with those tyres and those wheels look absolutely good, plus you have body lines
02:24 and creases that run all the way from the headlight to the taillight and it splits down
02:28 in between, you have body coloured ORVMs and you have body coloured door handles.
02:34 Now the door handles might look like traditional door handles, but they actually have a request
02:39 sensor inside it, so if you pull it, they will not come out, but there's a button, there's
02:42 a request sensor, so if you press that, the door opens up and the same is from the inside,
02:47 so I'll tell that later on.
02:49 Also, you now have 195mm of ground clearance and which is 10mm more than the previous generation
02:55 NX, so going over potholes, broken roads, broken tarmac should not be a difficulty at
03:00 all for this car.
03:02 So now moving on to the rear section, the very first thing you'll notice that the taillight
03:07 unit is really sleek, it is split into two, so there is a bar that connects both the taillights,
03:12 right on top, it does not join the taillights, that's what I like about it because most of
03:17 the manufacturers, what they do is they join the taillights in the centre, but this has
03:21 a split, so if you see it for yourself, it looks really cool, really fantastic and overall
03:27 the rear profile along with the spoiler, with these bits and pieces, make the car actually
03:33 very sporty from the rear end as well.
03:35 You also get a wiper with a washer, a defogger and you can see you get blacked out elements
03:39 on the bumper, plus you have the badgings on either side, the Lexus and the NX 350h
03:45 AWD badging.
03:46 Other than that, you get an electric tailgate, now the tailgate is obviously, it can be opened
03:53 via the key, there are actually three things, so you can open the tailgate via the key,
03:58 there's a button over here on the right-hand side and you also have a request sensor on
04:01 the tailgate, so the tailgate opens up to around 520 litres of boot space, which is
04:06 not class-leading, but there is enough space to accommodate luggage for actually five people,
04:11 plus you also have a 60/40 split just in case you want to take down more luggage, so you
04:14 can fold any side and you have a button to fold the seats, so that's really cool, you
04:20 don't have to come all the way up to the rear section and then open the door, do it manually,
04:25 just press a button and the seat will fold down, giving you space for more luggage.
04:35 So now let's move on to the inside of the car, so the first thing that you'll notice
04:39 when you're on the inside is first of all this massive panoramic sunroof that makes
04:43 the cabin look really airy, really spacious, plus this cabin is also big, it's actually
04:48 a pretty big cabin and a lot has changed compared to the previous generation NX, you can see
04:54 it for yourself, the dashboard layout, it's a completely new dashboard, this is a completely
05:00 new 14-inch infotainment system over here, touch is absolutely fantastic and you can
05:07 connect your phone, this thing gives out a lot of information, I mean, just look at the
05:11 size of this thing and plus the placement is such that it is scanted towards the driver,
05:16 so that, I mean, he can look at it more easily while he is driving if he has to, other than
05:22 that, you get a full digital cluster in front of you, steering wheel is not a flat-bottom
05:28 steering wheel, but yeah, it's a leather-wrapped steering wheel, obviously everything around
05:31 there is bent in leather, so steering monitor controls are nice, they have actually a touch
05:37 feedback to it, but these are manual buttons, so the moment you'll touch any of the steering
05:43 monitor controls, it will show up on the heads-up display that you are going to use that button,
05:49 that's a really nice thing because other than that, if you are driving and you don't want
05:53 to look down to the button and see, I mean, this thing really helps, so that's a plus
05:58 point, so you have heated steering wheel and the steering wheel can be adjusted electrically
06:02 as well, plus talking about the seats, very comfortable, this thing has only memory function
06:10 for the driver, the passenger does not get, but the passenger and the driver seat both
06:17 are electrically adjustable, however, the driver gets another plus point that he can
06:21 adjust the lumbar support, the passenger cannot do that, it's on a fixed lumbar, so the seats
06:27 are also ventilated, they have auto ventilation and three levels of ventilation, whatever
06:32 you want to choose from and everything is controlled by the screen, but you also have
06:36 some amount of buttons that Lexus did not miss out, is this volume rocker and a defogger
06:42 button and the front defogger button, so there's some amount of buttons and the AC knobs, so
06:48 the AC temperature is obviously, it's a dual zone climate control and you can see the temperatures
06:55 on these two screens that are very neatly placed, it's a part of this screen actually,
07:00 the full 14-inch infotainment system and you also have, as I mentioned, the heads-up display
07:06 gives you a lot of information about the car and this obviously has a lot of driver-assisted
07:14 features such as adaptive, like if you just notice, I will just show it to you, so right
07:20 now the lane keep assist is on and the active steering is also on, so just in case if you
07:25 move out of the lane, what will happen is that, I'll just show it to you, so just look
07:29 at the steering wheel, if I'm moving out of the lane, you can see that the steering wheel
07:34 corrects and brings the car back to its place, but if you keep your hand off, it'll give
07:38 a notification and you will have to hold the steering wheel, you will not have a choice,
07:43 so this sums up the front end and before summing it up, I would like to tell you a few more
07:47 things, you get a wireless charger over here that's very neatly integrated and you can
07:50 push this inside to reveal some space for your cigarette lighter and there is some space
07:55 to keep some stuff, you have your cup holders over here, some buttons over here and you
07:59 have a Mark Levinson sound system, it's a surround sound system, beautiful audio quality
08:05 and bass is very nice on this car.
08:09 Now let's move on to the rear profile and on the rear end, you will get a centre armrest,
08:15 you'll get cup holders, you get an AC vent but obviously it does not get a climate control
08:19 as well, so it only has front two zone climate control, the rear has just a blower control
08:25 and you have a charging place for yourself, there is enough of leg room and knee room,
08:31 plus this sunroof extends all the way up to the back, so the people who are sitting behind
08:36 can easily look out of it and enjoy the weather on a nice rainy day and you also have three
08:42 adjustable headrests, so that means three people can sit comfortably, if you are two
08:45 of you all going, you can deploy the armrest and enjoy the ride.
08:53 Now let's talk about the drivability of this car, so first of all, let me give you a quick
08:57 engine brief, so this car is powered by a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
09:02 and this also has an electric motor with a battery, so this is a pure hybrid, like not
09:09 a plug-in hybrid, but obviously this can run on pure electric mode.
09:13 Talking about the power figures, the power figures are around 188 bhp and 240Nm, it's
09:19 mated to a CVT gearbox and Lexus says that this CVT gearbox has improved over the previous
09:25 one, so you used to have the rubber band effect on the CVT gearbox, so basically this is much
09:29 more improved and the rubber band effect is slightly less on it, well however, if I floor
09:34 it, I don't know if you'll be able to hear it, but let me just floor it in three, two,
09:44 one.
09:46 Yes you can see that there is a lot of noise that comes inside the cabin post, 4, 4,500
09:52 rpm, though the NVH levels are good, but this could have been a little better, however,
09:58 it touches triple digit speeds in no time, you have three modes, you have eco, normal
10:02 and sport, however, they do not help, they just increase the throttle response and the
10:06 way the steering wheel weighs up, the steering wheel weighs up nicely, it's got a very sharp
10:11 steering wheel and drivability is nice, cornering ability is again good because of the all-wheel
10:17 drive setup, so it'll send power to individual wheels when it needs, like when the computer
10:22 figures out that this wheel, the front right or the rear left wheel needs the most amount
10:27 of grip or traction, it'll send power and distribute it accordingly and the acceleration
10:33 is actually, it's pretty decent for a 100 and almost 190bhp car, let me just hit a speed
10:41 bump and again, it's a big speed bump and because of the 195mm ground clearance, it
10:49 just took it easily, suspension setup is again very nice, it's a mix and match of both, it'll
10:55 absorb all the bumps and bottles that the city has to throw at you, plus on the same
11:00 time, it'll just handle well, the body roll on this car is relatively less, you can see,
11:07 so I mean, there is body roll, I'll not say that there is not, but you will not feel it
11:11 much because the suspension has been tuned like that, so again, let me just take a corner
11:16 and show it to you, so we are doing triple digit speeds and without any hesitation, the
11:24 car will just dip into a corner, you will feel very confident while doing that because
11:30 of the safety features that this car has, so every time I try to move out of the lane,
11:35 the steering wheel pushes me back or tells me to go inside the lane, again, very good
11:40 thing, it has emergency braking, adaptive cruise control works fantastically, you have
11:44 airbags all around, so yeah, I mean, it's a pretty sorted car, you can, if you feel
11:50 that all of this that we have mentioned in the review suits you, so you can go definitely
11:55 check out the all-new Lexus NX 350h and if you like this video, please give it a thumbs
