00:00 In January I was pleased to join with Alison in announcing more than a million dollars
00:04 in funding towards the University of Wollongong study to find ways to keep Australia's grid
00:08 secure through a renewable energy transformation that's underway.
00:12 Local ingenuity with huge potential to help energy grids accommodate variable energy outputs
00:16 such as wind and solar generation.
00:18 And in February of course the Prime Minister announced a $10 million investment also at
00:22 the University of Wollongong in the Energy Future Skills Centre located at the university
00:27 with a second investment of $2.5 million to upgrade equipment and teaching aids creating
00:32 a renewable energy training facility at Wollongong TAFE.
00:36 These two facilities work together to help build the energy workforce of the future as
00:40 we need to do using state of the art technology and laboratories, upgraded equipment to provide
00:45 real world examples of clean energy technology and teaching research.
00:49 This investment will deliver teaching programs to retrain and upskill workers for a career
00:53 in clean energy and clean manufacturing which we so desperately need.
