Adil Rashid made his ODI debut in 2009 but after a decline in form was overlooked for the World Cup team in 2015. But he’s consistently repaid Morgan’s faith in him since, playing 93 of the 98 ODIs in this cycle, more than any other player, including the skipper. Before the semi-final he’d taken eight wickets for 54 at this tournament but Morgan never stopped believing, with his three-wicket haul against Australia a very valuable case in point. Can Rashid spin England to their maiden World Cup victory at Lord's? (Video: ICC)

00:00 The belief must be huge now that you've ridden that wobble at the start of the tournament,
00:09 now you've got momentum. How confident are you that you can win on Sunday?
00:15 Very confident. Like I said, the belief is back. There were a couple of games where there
00:19 was a bit of a wobble, but the past three games against New Zealand, India and now Australia,
00:24 it shows our character, it shows our strengths, it shows what we're about. So come Sunday
00:30 we're very confident that we can deliver the same skills and hopefully win the cup.
00:34 You've got a great record against New Zealand as well, that must give you an edge.
00:37 Yeah, definitely. Like I said, it's a team game as well. For me personally, whether we
00:42 get wickets or not, it doesn't matter as long as we win. But for us as well, we've got 11
00:49 world-class players, 11 players who can change the game in our team and that's the real bonus
00:53 for having the team we've got. Like I said before, we're really confident that we can
00:57 go there and do the job.
00:58 How's your shoulder? Because you've been managing injury, haven't you?
01:00 Yeah, it's going well so far. Hopefully one more game and it'll go well and then from
01:03 there we can assess. But all good for now.
01:05 Have you been having any injections?
01:06 Yeah, I've had a couple before the World Cup. I had one. So hopefully it'll stay there for
01:11 one more game and then from there we'll assess and see what happens.
01:14 And the Lord's factor, how big could the crowd be come Sunday?
01:17 Hopefully it'll be a full crowd. Hopefully there'll be a full crowd cheering England on.
01:21 We'll embrace it. We're all looking forward to it. It'll be exciting. But we also know
01:25 that we have to be on it because New Zealand are a very strong side. We've proven that
01:29 over the tournament and we've proven that last game being India. So we'll definitely
01:33 be taking it lightly. They're an excellent side so we'll go out there 100 per cent committed
01:37 to what we've got to do, to our game, to how we're playing and hopefully we can get our win.
01:41 Can I just talk a bit about the pressure on you as a lone spinner in the team in an attack?
01:45 There's no real pressure for me because I know whether if I have two spinners or three
01:50 spinners, I know my role in my team is to come in the middle of us, try and create the
01:54 chances, try and create something. Going for runs is irrelevant in the situation I'm in.
02:00 So there's no real pressure on me in that situation because I know I've got to go there,
02:04 try my best to get wickets and if it doesn't work then I might be taken off, then bring back on,
02:08 taken off, then come back on. So that's how cricket works. That's how my
02:11 bowling's been working as well and Morgan knows that. So like I say, I'm very lucky I've got a
02:16 captain like Morgan on my side that knows spin bowling, that knows my bowling and what I bring
02:23 to the team. Playing in the final of the World Cup, how does that change? Does anything change
02:27 for you? No, nothing changes. It's just like I said before, it's a game of cricket. It's just
02:33 another game of cricket that we have to stick to the basics, stick to our strengths, stick to what
02:39 we've been doing for the past three or four years. Nothing changes because it's a final.
02:43 Obviously it's exciting times but we do that and we'll be winners.
02:46 Lords tends to be quite, well, not the atmosphere you get here but could a bigger atmosphere,
02:53 more rowdy atmosphere like you experienced today be a good thing for you guys on Sunday?
02:57 Yeah, definitely. It gets all the team going, gets the crowd going. It's exciting as well.
03:02 We're having a big crowd, making noise and obviously at home as well. So the bigger the
03:07 crowd the better for England. Good stuff, thank you very much. No problem. Good luck. Thank you.
03:13 Thank you.
