00:19 The curriculum is overloaded with too many lessons or subjects.
00:25 That is the reason, according to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte,
00:30 why the learning delivery in basic education in the country is compromised.
00:34 That is why after two years of review, the Matatag K-10 Curriculum was launched.
00:39 "Ma" stands for "New Curriculum that is in time".
00:44 "Ta" stands for "Smart from mind and heart".
00:49 "Ta" stands for "Brave to face any challenge in life".
00:54 "G" stands for "Filipino is good at overcoming the world".
00:59 The Vice President thanked the former Education Secretary, Leonor Breones, for the initiative to start the curriculum review.
01:07 In the new Matatag K-10 Curriculum, 70% of the curriculum used for public education was reduced.
01:16 But this will help in understanding the justice of learning,
01:20 maintaining knowledge, and more effective and more confusing learning experience.
01:25 In grades 1 and 2, from the previous 7 learning areas, there will be only 5 subjects.
01:30 When grade 3 comes, science will be added.
01:33 When it comes to higher education, other subjects will be added.
01:38 The value of education will be changed in GMRC when it comes to grades 7 to 10.
01:43 Vice President Duterte also wants to include Peace Education.
01:48 "Peace Education is heavily integrated in all learning areas.
01:53 Awareness, social responsibility, disaster risk mitigation, human security.
02:00 But all these are really meant to make our children, our learners, be aware that they have to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts even in the classroom."
02:13 Phased implementation will be done in the Matatag Curriculum from the school year 2024 to 2025 until 2027 to 2028.
02:22 There are still assignments to be given, except for the weekend.
02:25 DepEd will clarify.
02:27 "We still have K-12, which is just the first to be reviewed, passed, and the Matatag Agenda or the new curriculum for K-10 will be implemented.
02:38 But K-12 is still being reviewed. In fact, we are now reviewing grades 11 and 12."
