00:00 Hello, this is your chef O'Day Blutton for August 9th 2023. Here are the top stories.
00:06 The fast food restaurant Popeyes have confirmed they will open their second South Yorkshire
00:10 branch in Meadowhall before the end of the year. The fried chicken chain opened a branch
00:15 in Rotherham Parkgate in May this year but have not confirmed a specific date for opening
00:21 in Meadowhall. Popeyes UK CEO Tom Crowley said the Rotherham opening was the chain's
00:26 biggest ever launch globally and they are confident Meadowhall will be just as popular.
00:32 A driver in Doncaster has been hospitalised after being stabbed and slashed on the face
00:36 last week. The man in his 50s was reportedly attacked by the driver of another car near
00:42 the Astrobound play centre in the city. His attacker escaped on foot whilst a 19-year-old
00:47 passenger in the suspect's car was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police but has
00:52 since been bailed. Finally, a top South Yorkshire cop would have been sacked following accusations
00:58 of voyeurism and coercive control were he not to have resigned prior to his misconduct
01:03 hearing according to the panel overseeing his case. DCI Daniel Boulter was due to appear
01:09 before a South Yorkshire Police misconduct panel on Monday accused of seven charges relating
01:14 to coercive control to multiple partners. He resigned before the hearing where he was
01:20 also accused of failing to disclose a gambling addiction, an association to a career criminal
01:25 and criminal investigations launched against him by two other police forces. As always
01:30 you can find all the stories mentioned in today's bulletin in full on our website.
01:35 What do you think there is to do in Sheffield on a rainy day? What's the best thing to do?
01:38 Well, there's libraries, there's certain activities for small children in libraries, there's going
01:46 to the cinema, that's always something that can be done, ice skating, there's the Valley
01:55 Entertainment area where there's bowling and things like that, that's ideal. If you want
01:59 to go to like a big family meal out, there's plenty of like, there's sheep and churple,
02:05 there's the Wetherspoons, there's things like that is all I can think of. I think the best
02:10 thing to do is in Sheffield on a rainy day. I think probably a walk down the moat and
02:16 a trip round the market. It used to be Castle Market of course but that's gone so, but we
02:22 love this market now, it's a smacking little walk, love to see the buskers down there.
02:28 But if it's rainy, you know, we call it Wetherspoons and have a trip round the city or, there's
02:34 always somewhere you can get out at rain. What do you think is the best thing to do
02:37 in Sheffield on a rainy day? I think it's a bit limited, I think perhaps sort of shopping,
02:44 cinema, that sort of thing. There isn't as much I think available as there used to be,
02:51 so yeah it's difficult. I think trying to say to shopping centres that are indoors and
02:58 sort of winter gardens and stuff but yeah, I would say probably sort of shopping and cinema
03:04 would be my two top. What do you think the best activity in Sheffield is to do on a rainy
03:09 day? Er, wander round Meadowhall. Yeah. Sort of shopping and maybe go to Frankie and Benny's
03:16 for some food. What's the best thing to do in Sheffield on a rainy day? To go to the
03:22 indoor play centres with the children is the only thing I can think of on a rainy day.
03:27 But they're dotted all around Sheffield and there's nothing ever close by or local. What's
03:33 the best thing to do in Sheffield on a rainy day? I think centretainment's quite good,
03:38 near Meadowhall there's cinemas there, there's lots of restaurants, there's crazy golf, I
03:44 think there's still a laser tag, so I think that's always a good shout on a rainy day.
