00:00 Riley Keough opened up about motherhood, the loss of her mother Lisa Marie, and where she
00:04 stands with her grandmother.
00:06 We've got all the details in today's Us Daily.
00:08 Nearly one year after becoming a mom, the actress revealed to Vanity Fair that she welcomed
00:12 her daughter to Pello Storm via surrogate.
00:14 The actress, who has previously been candid about battling Lyme disease, said, "I can
00:18 carry children, but it felt like the best choice for what I had going on physically
00:22 with the autoimmune stuff."
00:24 Riley, who shares her daughter with her husband Ben Smith-Peterson, went on to describe how
00:28 her daughter's name has a connection with her family legacy.
00:32 Riley's grandfather Elvis Presley hails from Tupelo, Mississippi, and she initially thought
00:36 that the reference might fly under the radar.
00:39 She said, "It's funny because we picked her name before the Elvis movie.
00:41 I was like, 'This is great because it's not really a well-known word or name in relation
00:45 to my family.
00:46 It's not like Memphis or something.'
00:48 Then when the Elvis movie came out, it was like Tupelo this and Tupelo that, and I was
00:52 like, 'Oh no.'
00:53 But that's fine."
00:54 Along with honoring Elvis, Riley included homage to her late brother Benjamin Storm
00:58 with her daughter's middle name.
01:01 Benjamin died by suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.
01:05 Less than six months after Tupelo was born in August of 2022, Riley's mother Lisa Marie
01:10 Presley died at the age of 54 in January after suffering cardiac arrest.
01:15 She told Vanity Fair, "When I lost my brother, there was no roadmap whatsoever, and it was
01:19 a lot of big emotions that I didn't know what to do with.
01:22 When I lost my mom, I was familiar with the process a little bit more, and I found working
01:26 to be really helpful.
01:27 I find it triggering when people say happiness is a choice, but in that moment I did feel
01:32 like there was a choice in front of me to give up and let this event take me out or
01:36 have the courage to work through it.
01:38 I started trying to move through it and not let it take me out."
01:41 Now weeks after the Emotional Service Act Graceland, Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla
01:45 Presley contested her will.
01:47 Priscilla claimed that a 2016 amendment that replaced her as the trustee in favor of Riley
01:52 and Benjamin was forged.
01:54 Now Us Weekly confirmed in May that they settled the case.
01:57 The two women had agreed to make Riley the sole trustee of Lisa Marie's estate, with
02:00 Lisa Marie's twin daughters serving as sub-trustees.
02:04 Per the terms, Priscilla would receive a one-time lump sum of $1 million from the account.
02:09 Riley told Vanity Fair that after her mom passed, everything was in chaos, adding, "Everyone
02:14 was a bit of a panic to understand how we move forward, and it just took a minute to
02:18 understand the details of the situation because it's complicated.
02:21 We are a family, but there's also a huge business side of our family.
02:25 So I think there was a clarity that needed to be had."
02:27 Riley said that everything with her grandma is going to be how it was, saying, "Anything
02:32 that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad, because at the end of the day,
02:36 all she wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy."
