00:00 Yep.
00:00 >> So what was it like to get the pads on and
00:03 get to pop it a little bit out here?
00:05 >> I'd say it'd been fun, you know what I'm saying?
00:09 I'm very glad, you know what I'm saying?
00:12 I was be able to come back from the injury, you know what I'm saying?
00:15 I didn't play in the spring, so it's been a minute since I had my pads, but
00:19 I was excited to come out here and get back, you know what I'm saying?
00:22 Back in the pads and get back to it, really excited.
00:25 >> How has those first days of fall camp been like for you so far?
00:29 >> I'd say it's been pretty good so far.
00:31 I'm still learning the offense, you know what I mean?
00:34 But it's been pretty good, you know what I'm saying?
00:36 I feel like I've been making some very big plays now.
00:39 I feel like the coach has been noticing, so I feel like my days,
00:42 my first three days have been pretty good.
00:44 >> Missing spring, how difficult was that?
00:47 And what did you learn through that process?
00:49 >> Missing spring, when I found out I had tore my labrum, missing spring,
00:54 it was kinda hard, it was hard for me, you know what I'm saying?
00:58 I had the thought of not being on the field, you know what I mean?
01:01 It was a tough time, but I had coaches around talking to me,
01:06 telling me it's gonna be all right, you feel me?
01:09 I'm gonna be okay, you know what I'm saying?
01:11 I was ready to come back, but it was a tough time.
01:14 >> Sorry, how much of that time did you study in public, or
01:16 what did you do during that time when you weren't able to be on the field?
01:19 >> During that time, I would say I was in the training room 24/7.
01:24 I was in the playbook 24/7, you know what I'm saying?
01:26 Learning the offense, learning the basic plays, you feel me?
01:30 The concepts and all that.
01:31 So I was in the training room a lot, you know what I'm saying?
01:33 To get back on the field.
01:34 I really worked, so I'm really happy to be back on the field.
01:38 >> Do you feel fairly comfortable with the playbook, or
01:40 is there still a long way to go with that?
01:42 >> Well, I feel like, so it was kinda challenging for
01:46 me to learn the playbook while I wasn't on the field.
01:49 But I feel like now that I'm on the field, I'm getting the hang of it,
01:51 I'm learning, so I feel like it's coming along.
01:54 >> 300 plays or so, I mean, that feels like a lot.
01:57 >> Yeah, it is a lot, it is a lot to learn.
02:01 I'm getting the hang of it.
02:02 >> You're a physical receiver, how do you go out and use that to your advantage?
02:05 >> I don't really know, you know what I'm saying?
02:11 Cuz I just go out and play, I just go out and play.
02:15 So I really don't be thinking, but I just use my body to my advantage.
02:19 I know they can't handle me cuz I'm a big body receiver.
02:22 So I just, that's what I use my advantage, my body.
02:26 I got speed too, I use that too.
02:28 >> With how big you are and given the state of the tight end room right now,
02:31 given with the depth there, have the coaches come to you at all?
02:34 Or if you presented them like, hey,
02:35 maybe I could take some reps out of tight end as well?
02:37 >> Yeah, they came to me a lot.
02:39 They was telling me, I played an X, right?
02:41 They was telling me the more I learn, the more I be on the field playing the X,
02:46 they gonna ease me into the Y position.
02:48 Coming not like hand in the dirt, but in the slot, standing up receiver type.
02:54 Cuz they feel I can do something in the slot too, so I'm very excited for that.
02:59 >> Does that make you, I guess, more confident in your versatility?
03:01 >> Yeah, it does.
03:03 >> When did you get cleared?
03:04 >> I got cleared, I would say, I'm not 100% clear, but
03:09 I'll say I'm still rehabbing, but it's not like how I've been doing.
03:13 I ain't gotta be in the training room every day.
03:15 I just gotta show up three days a week, you know what I'm saying?
03:16 To keep my strength in my shoulder, but I'll say I'm clear.
03:20 I got clear, I'll say,
03:23 like two or three days before this week, yeah.
03:30 >> Coming back from an injury, do you still feel like you're knocking off the rust a
03:33 little bit or just kinda getting the feeling of being back to yourself?
03:36 >> I'll say I was knocking off the rust in the summer.
03:40 I was having a hard time, you know what I'm saying?
03:42 Coming out my brace, running my routes and stuff like that.
03:44 But I feel like I'm back now, so I feel like I'm back to who's there.
03:50 >> Is that a weight to be lifted off your shoulders?
03:53 >> Yeah, yes it is.
03:54 >> How do you like working with Coach McGee?
03:56 >> I love working with Coach McGee.
03:58 I love how he coached me.
04:00 He tell me what I'm doing right and wrong.
04:01 I love, you know what I'm saying, how he coached me up.
04:04 He's not gonna sit there and sugarcoat it.
04:07 He's gonna tell you what you look good at, what you need to work on.
04:09 So I love, yeah, I like him.
04:11 >> With so many guys out there that can play out wide,
04:14 does that feel like it pushes you guys to make every rep count out here in practice?
04:18 >> Yes sir, yes sir, it really does.
04:21 >> You just said, I'm sorry.
04:23 I was gonna say, you just said, you said, I'm back to Chris Bell.
04:26 Where's Chris Bell?
04:26 What does that mean?
04:27 >> Big body physical fast receiver, that's me.
04:31 That's me, back.
04:33 >> How tough was it to try and build chemistry between you and
04:35 the rest of the quarterbacks over the summer and
04:37 spring even though you couldn't get out there on the field?
04:40 >> It wasn't really tough.
04:42 They always came talking to me.
04:44 I always met with some quarterbacks to study the playbook.
04:48 Jack Plummer, Brock Doman, Pierce Clarkson, I always met with them.
04:54 We studied the plays, so we kinda connected, we connected.
04:58 >> You had a big catch over Quincy on one of those plays.
05:02 What is that like going against those DBs?
05:04 >> I would say they give me a good look.
05:07 They give me a lot of work and I love going against them.
05:10 use DBs every day. Good? Yep.
