The UCI Cycling World Championships have officially begun following an opening ceremony on George Square.
Cyclists from across the world will be taking over Glasgow and further afield for ten days for the biggest cycling event in history.
The competitive action kicked off at 9.30am on 3 August with a series of races at the Chris Hoy velodrome.
Next up, a by-election to replace MP Margaret Ferrier who was sacked after breaking Covid rules will take place as soon as possible.
Almost 12,000 voters in the Rutherglen and Hamilton West constituency backed the former politician’s unseating.
In 2020, Ferrier travelled by train from London to Scotland following a positive Covid test.
And in other news, plans to replace University Hospital Monklands in Lanarkshire have progressed as the NHS are now seeking approval from the Scottish Government.
The application details plans to create the ‘most advanced hospital in Scotland’ that can deliver ‘first-class’ health projects.
