00:00 -Jack, what's it like to be on the day to start fall camp?
00:04 You've been through a lot of fall camps and obviously a different
00:08 vibe here but back with Coach Brown. What's it like for you?
00:12 -It's just excitement. You get to fall camp and
00:16 you sense that we get a chance to come together as a team and
00:20 build some relationships as well as we've got to get better as a team and get
00:24 prepared for that first game. There's excitement in the air
00:28 and then football's back.
00:32 -How big is it for you? We talked about this spring a little bit.
00:36 Now that you've been through spring, you're back with them, how much is the
00:40 familiarity, how much has that helped the transition for you as a quarterback?
00:44 -No doubt. Being able to play in this
00:48 offense for going on my fifth year now has been huge and being able to
00:52 come back and know the offense and be able to teach it to
00:56 the guys has been a huge step for me in the leadership aspect.
01:00 Being able to get in and meet with the receivers, running backs, tight ends, and
01:04 go over the plays and the routes that we were running all summer.
01:08 Just having guys be able to come up and have conversations with me about how
01:12 things work, what camp's going to be like, what the offense is like.
01:16 It's been good to get me acclimated to all my teammates and have good conversations.
01:20 -Jack, speaking of these,
01:24 what's been the toughest thing for you? Has there been anything
01:28 that has really stood out that you've had to get adjusted to
01:32 here? -Honestly, I've had a
01:36 pretty smooth transition. I've got no complaints. I love living in Louisville.
01:41 It's awesome. I had a lot of fun this summer with my teammates just exploring
01:45 the city and doing some fun activities.
01:49 School's been good. Been in classes and then being
01:53 a coach earlier with Coach Reno and the strength staff has been helpful too.
01:57 About as smooth as you can go of a transition for coming to a new school.
02:01 -For both Jack and Jamariah, Jack, you mentioned in the spring that with so many
02:05 newcomers in the wide receiver room, building that quarterback receiver chemistry
02:09 was a little bit of a work in progress. Now that you've had all of the spring, now that you've had all of the summer,
02:13 where do you think heading into fall camp that quarterback wide receiver chemistry is at this point?
02:17 -I'll go first. I think we
02:21 made some big strides but obviously there's still a ways to go before our first game
02:25 and that's what fall camp is for. Spring was a lot of
02:29 filling each other out. Some of them we were building a little bit. Now here's in fall camp
02:33 we're gonna try to perfect that. -Going off of what Jack said,
02:37 throughout spring training we did make a lot of
02:41 strong strides. Going into the first game I feel like
02:45 we'll be as comfortable as ever. -Renato, Coach Brum was
02:49 talking about just in the spring he wanted to make sure the
02:53 line got more competition for fall. So many new faces
02:57 now. First of all, do you know everybody now? Have you all kind of gelled together
03:01 and what's it like to have that know that you're gonna have that competition?
03:05 -I think I've gotten to know everybody
03:09 pretty well personally because we've all been hanging out just grilling, eating,
03:13 make sure we all stay big. The Halls, B&B.
03:17 Personally I love the challenge. I always like
03:22 competition. The new guys in the room, they're gonna help me get better and we're gonna
03:26 help each other get better. The competition is gonna be
03:30 amazing. -How
03:34 is that gonna help you guys, the three of you guys that were starters last year? How does it kind of
03:38 push you to get better as well knowing those other guys
03:42 are gonna be right there? -I think it's gonna help us get better because
03:46 the competition is gonna make us get better because no one wants to lose their
03:50 spot. No one wants to... Other guys come in and just kick you
03:54 out your home. I think us just being hungry and
03:58 keep fighting. The new guys come in to help us keep fighting.
04:02 -Renato, there's always the saying, feeling that
04:06 offensive lines need not just games but years to come
04:10 together. It's a lot of teamwork.
04:14 You have new guys and you're a veteran. Tell me about all that
04:18 knitting together and being part of doing the
04:22 offensive line. -Just spending time together. Just being around each other as much as we
04:26 can. Seeing what we can do
04:30 together to help us improve. We've been meeting a lot after
04:34 workouts, doing extra walk-throughs and ways we can
04:38 go on plays together so we can help each other grow. -Do you think
04:42 your line is gonna be ready to go and be as knit
04:46 as you can be right off with changes?
04:50 -Of course. Most definitely. I think the work that we put on this offseason is gonna show
04:54 when the time comes. -Jack, I asked Jeff about this too but for you
04:59 having played so much football, obviously there's a lot of areas where you've been able to grow
05:03 in the past five years or whatever it's been. What else
05:07 do you feel like you have to prove or what more do you want to get better at coming into your last season?
05:11 -I gotta get better at just being consistent all the time.
05:15 I think I've had stretches of football where I get hot and I can play really
05:19 well but then I've also had a quarter or two where things
05:23 aren't going great and it kind of puts the team into a hole. I think just
05:27 being consistent throughout the whole entire game. Playing how I know how I can
05:31 play for a full four quarters. Then just some little things
05:35 like being able to step up in the pocket, stand in there, take some hits
05:39 and deliver the ball into the middle of the field, intermediate routes
05:43 and stuff like that. -Ronato, is offensive line play
05:47 in this offense significantly different in any way from what you've been doing
05:51 the last few years? -Most definitely. Left pass
05:55 offense, offensive line, we're just ready. This offense I think
05:59 the quarterback and O-line, we really take most of the load in this
06:03 offense. Just knowing the different schemes and different
06:07 stuff that comes on with our plays. It's most definitely been different.
06:11 -Jamari, just want to ask
06:15 for the people that haven't seen you play, from Georgia State, how would you describe your game and what are you
06:19 most looking forward to display both in practice and game day
06:23 comes September 1st? -I'm more focused on
06:27 becoming more of a vocal leader this year. That's something that I
06:31 feel I just was missing from my game. Being able to guide my team as well.
06:35 I'm the oldest in the room right now. Just pouring what I know into them
06:40 I feel that's going to help my game develop into it.
06:44 -We'll stop there. Again, they're going to be
