There’s nothing that gets people going quite like a good old fashioned debate - and some of the firecist and funniest debates are sure to be between Northern and Southern people. But, what is the most hotly contested regional debate? One survey by coach operator megabus now claims to have finally revealed the answer. The survey has been supported by TV presenter Joe Swash, who loves a light hearted chat.

00:00 I'm Joe Swash and I'm here to celebrate
00:01 Megabus's 20th birthday.
00:03 That's 20 years of connecting the country.
00:06 As you know, we are a nation of rivaling regions
00:09 and I'm on a mission to find out the little differences
00:11 that really get us going.
00:12 So let's go see what the great British public have to say.
00:15 First up, scone gate.
00:17 Who does it best?
00:18 Is it the Devonshire cream first
00:20 or the Cornish jam first?
00:22 Let's find out.
00:23 What is the right way of doing a scone?
00:24 - Cream on the bottom.
00:25 It replaces the butter, don't it,
00:26 if you put the cream on first.
00:28 - That looks inedible.
00:29 Why is the cream sat on there like that?
00:30 - Because then you've got the jam on the bottom,
00:32 cream on top.
00:33 Cornish clotted cream, none of this other rubbish.
00:35 - That's wrong, is that, man?
00:36 - So you don't like it with jam at the bottom?
00:38 - No.
00:39 - I don't like cream.
00:39 - You just do jam!
00:40 Next up, I'm going to find out which region
00:43 is home to the best music scene.
00:45 - Manchester, you've got the Stone Roses.
00:47 - Oasis.
00:48 - Oasis.
00:48 - No question. Liverpool.
00:50 - I think that's a bit of a biased answer.
00:51 - Is it because you're from Liverpool?
00:53 - It's true.
00:54 - I think it's Glasgow.
00:54 - That's the first time someone said Glasgow.
00:57 - I think the colder the country, the more creative it is.
00:59 - You lot must be so creative up there
01:01 because it's freezing.
01:01 - We are, we're not Birmingham.
01:02 - Birmingham?
01:03 - Only because of the events that are there.
01:04 - What about if you go a little bit further south?
01:06 What about Dagenham?
01:07 Now it's Stacey Solomon.
01:07 - I don't know about that.
01:09 - Oh, I didn't know.
01:09 I don't know about the Solomon, did I?
01:12 - Now this one's an important one.
01:14 It's beige, it's round, but what could it be?
01:16 - I know what I think.
01:17 - I'd call that a balm cake.
01:19 - What does balm mean?
01:20 - I don't know.
01:21 - That's a cob.
01:22 - A cob?
01:23 - Yeah.
01:24 - A band.
01:24 - A bread roll.
01:25 - A bread roll!
01:26 Yes it is!
01:27 - A tea cake.
01:28 (laughing)
01:30 - Joe, in public, a bap.
01:32 - That's a roll.
01:33 - That's a wrap, mate.
01:35 'Cause that is right.
01:36 That is a roll.
01:38 Let's get out of here.
01:39 What a day.
01:40 I just can't decide who does it best.
01:42 So why don't you put these rivalries to the test yourself?
01:45 To celebrate this big birthday,
01:46 Megabus is offering 20% off of journeys
01:49 on selected dates in August and in September
01:52 so we can all embrace the little differences
01:54 in our nation.
01:55 Head to the Little Differences campaign page
01:57 to find out more.
