Simon Collings's video to review England's win over Haiti in the Women's World Cup .
Transcript
00:00 So England's World Cup campaign gets off with a win against Haiti but I don't think this is the performance that Serena Vigeman would have wanted from tonight's game.
00:08 England never really got going, never really got into their rhythm, particularly in attack and that's been a problem coming into the tournament, that lack of goals.
00:16 And against Haiti tonight they struggled to really assert their dominance.
00:20 I mean they finished the game with 70% possession, it didn't really feel like that, you never felt like they were fully in their flow.
00:28 And I think you've got to give some credit to Haiti for that.
00:30 They made it really, really difficult for England, they pressed hard, they were very physical.
00:35 Before the match we heard from Serena Vigeman who was stressing the point that this Haiti team is a lot better than their ranking of number 53 in the world.
00:41 And she said they were unpredictable, an opportunistic team.
00:44 And that's exactly what they were.
00:45 And they'll be disappointed they didn't get anything from this game.
00:47 I think they could have quite conceivably come away with this with a point.
00:49 Mario has made two fantastic saves in that second half and if it hadn't been for that, then England would have been leaving here red-faced.
00:57 They've got the three points, I think that's important.
00:59 I think always in tournament football, the group stage is about getting through to the knockouts.
01:03 And if you think back to a year ago in the Euros, England kicked that off with a 1-0 win against Austria where they didn't look fantastic.
01:09 And they won and won the whole competition.
01:11 So there shouldn't be massive alarm bells ringing.
01:14 I think this is not the way England would have wanted to start and turn the performance.
01:17 But they've got the result, three points on the board and this is something they can build on going forward ahead of Denmark next week in Sydney.
