00:00 Well I'm not sure that I know any child that doesn't love dinosaurs.
00:03 So, you know, it's really inspiring because you can come along, it's really exciting.
00:08 And I think it's just the sheer size of them and the fact that, you know, they move, they
00:12 make noise.
00:13 It's really, you know, it's great for their imagination as well to kind of see these dinosaurs
00:17 come to life.
00:18 Dinosaurs are taking over Heaton Park this summer.
00:21 From the 20th of July until the 6th of August, Dinosaurs in the Park is coming to one of
00:26 the largest parks in the Northwest to make this a summer holiday to remember for families.
00:32 40 life-sized, realistic, animatronic dinosaurs from the Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous
00:38 periods come to life and provide a truly immersive experience.
00:43 Take a walk back in time along the dinosaur trail and stop off for some fun activities
00:47 at the Interactive Zone, where you can take a look at some fossils, grab a bite to eat
00:52 or take a ride on the Ferris Wheel.
00:54 We went down to explore the trail on opening day and take a closer look at these huge dinosaurs.
01:00 We really wanted to come to Manchester.
01:01 Obviously, it's a huge city and we knew it was going to be a great family attraction.
01:06 And when we found Heaton Park, we were really thrilled.
01:08 It's a beautiful park and it's been the perfect setting for the dinosaurs.
01:12 So we have 39 animatronic life-sized dinosaurs.
01:16 We set them on a trail and they're split into herbivores and carnivores.
01:20 And then we have lots of dinosaur hands-on related activities.
01:24 It's very educational.
01:25 So all of our dinosaurs have little information about them.
01:29 And we also have kind of an expert, Dr. Dean Lomax, who's been working with us and telling
01:35 us about exciting new discoveries.
01:37 And we've got a new model of a new discovery that was made in 2020.
01:40 It was a little bit muddy underfoot with the weather, but there's a dinosaur trail so you
01:45 can go through and discover all the dinosaurs.
01:47 Obviously, they're life-size, so it's really great to kind of see the perspective of how
01:50 big they would have been.
01:52 And then when you've done the trail, there's lots of different activities you can do.
01:55 You can design your own dinosaur and see it come to life.
01:58 We've got different hands-on excavation digs.
02:01 We've got bouncy castle, mini golf.
02:04 We've got some children's rides.
02:06 All sorts of anything dinosaur related, we've got it.
02:09 You can even get involved with brushing a dinosaur's teeth as you make your way along
02:14 the trail, passing the herbivores and carnivores.
02:17 You can bring a picnic.
02:18 There's food available, so you can make a day of it.
02:21 There's lots of seating.
02:22 We've got picnic benches, so you can just come along and have hopefully a day in the
02:26 sunshine.
02:27 We've got some activities which are in the event field.
02:30 So we've got Design-a-saurus, where you can create your own design of a dinosaur and see
02:33 it come to life when it's animated.
02:36 We've got the paleontologist tent.
02:37 We've got excavation digs.
02:39 We've got some children's rides, big wheel, mini golf, lots of different activities that
02:43 children can engage with.
02:44 It's perfect for all ages.
02:46 Children three and under are free, so they have free entry.
02:50 Anybody that's interested in dinosaurs can come along.
02:52 The brachiosaurus, he's enormous.
02:54 He's my favourite.
02:55 And the ichthyosaur.
02:57 But the brachiosaurus is the biggest of our collection, and yeah, he's my favourite.
