Roland Kovac was an Austrian musician whose career has spanned various stages, from jazz trio to jazzy prog, from big band to experimental computer ambient music and even to classical piano music. "The Master said" is a slightly jazzy prog instrumental album, noodling some long improvisations with soul funk influences and some Christian liturgical hints as well. "The Master said" and the following "Love that" released few months apart from each other are the two most representative albums of his prog-jazz-rock era.
