Birmingham and the West Midlands is home to some of the most beautiful spots in the country. And as it's picnic season, I am out here today to speak to people here in Birmingham City Centre to find out their favourite places across the region for a good outdoor meal.

00:00 I think the best place to have a picnic is Edgebaston Reservoir. You've obviously got
00:04 the water there, I think if you go down to the Mack Centre there's a little lake where
00:08 you can take a pedalo and it's just a nice area to sit and have a nice little picnic.
00:12 So yes, that would be my best place to recommend.
00:16 For me it would be West Bromwich Sandwell Park. You've got a nice picnic area down there,
00:21 you can go see the animals and plus there's a kids play area as well. So that's where
00:25 I normally take my dog out to. So it's just a nice weather, take her around the corner,
00:30 it's not far from my house, five minute walk, take the picnic to the park, have something
00:34 to eat, they go on the swings, slides and also they've got a little water park over
00:37 there for the kids to enjoy. So that's where I would recommend people to go, they'll enjoy
00:41 it. Plus you get to see animals at the same time and there's a car park there as well.
00:46 A place for me that I've been well recently is Sutton Park. They've got nice lakes and
00:51 a nice woodland area and a really nice place to have a picnic there also. But I've got
00:56 another place, it's Birmingham Airport. It's a location where you can see the paints go
01:03 over and a nice grass area there as well. Definitely a nice place to have a picnic.
01:12 We normally go to Sutton Park for a walk. It's very scenic. Yeah, it's nice because
01:17 there's lots of open space so it's never really that busy. And there's lots of different places
01:22 to walk around, cycle, run and things. Mary Stevens, which is in Stoutbridge. Absolutely
01:29 stunning park. It's got a playground for the kids, splash area as well, little gym and
01:35 then it's got a cafe up the top but it's just a massive, massive field. Beautiful place,
01:39 really well looked after. And Stevens Park as well in Quarry Bank, they've done a lot
01:44 of work to that. So that would probably be the two that I'd go. You've got like Clenton
01:48 and all those sorts of areas but for local, for me, it's always going to be Mary Stevens.
01:51 It's nice and quiet and there's lots of kids and it's fun.
01:55 Well I'm biased because I live in Warwick and we've got a great park there, St Nick's
01:59 Park and that's where I'll always go for a picnic and go with the family and there's
02:03 lots of stuff to do there, lots of space and it's just a generally nice place. But then
02:08 I don't know the city of Birmingham that well so I can't comment on the city. I know you've
02:13 picked on a couple of tourists here because I'm from Royal Enfield Spa and we have lovely
02:18 parks there so we tend to enjoy those. The reason we're here today is just to enjoy the
02:22 city landscape and all the constructions and buildings etc. As far as picnic areas, I'm
02:28 sure there are parks around the outskirts. I don't believe there's any in the city. But
02:34 you know, the urban conurbation itself has loads of different venues where you can enjoy
02:40 its own charm.
02:44 Go on, do you go to Hangle Hill?
02:47 Err...
02:48 What's Centenary Square?
02:51 Yeah.
02:52 That's quite nice. Waterfalls, marriages.
02:55 Yeah, Centenary Square, waterfalls, watch people.
03:00 Nice sunny day.
03:02 And if not that, Licky Hills.
