00:00 Can I be making up a chocolate delight today?
00:03 Now I say delight because it's full of chocolate and it's beautiful and it's moreish and if you're a chocoholic you're going to love it
00:10 If you're on a diet, watch it anyway but maybe don't go and make it or make it for someone else
00:15 But this is really delicious so you've got to go and try it and it's very simple to do
00:20 So the first thing I want to do is just go through the ingredients we're going to use
00:24 Now first of all we're going to make up the base, now what we're going to use for that is 300 grams of digestive biscuits
00:32 Now that pack is 500 grams, I'm going to use 300 grams
00:37 So roughly, you know, cut it where the 'E' is and you've got all that portion there, three fifths of it
00:43 And that is your digestive biscuits
00:45 Put those in a bag, bang them with a rolling pin and try and break them up into small bits
00:50 But you're still going to get a bit of crunch when you bite into them
00:53 So 300 grams of broken up digestive biscuits
00:57 Now we're also going to use some butter, now I'm actually going to use most of that
01:02 This block is 250 grams, I'm going to use 225 grams
01:08 So we're just going to slice a little bit off the end there
01:10 And that's going to be melted with 50 grams of cocoa powder
01:15 And also we're going to use 4 tablespoons, that's the larger spoon, of golden syrup
01:21 So all that goes in the pan on a low heat and you just get it all nicely melted together
01:26 Once you've sort of stirred it, it's all melted together
01:29 Put it in a baking tin, pour that in and you've got the base then
01:33 So you let that kind of cool down, harden a little bit and then you can pour your chocolate on top
01:38 Now with the chocolate, again we're going to melt this
01:41 I tend to do mine in a bowl over a little bit of gentle simmering water
01:46 And it slowly melts, it's a good way of doing it
01:49 And once you've melted it all, then we're going to pour that over the base
01:54 And you're going to have a really delicious chocolate delight
01:58 So we're going to start making up the base for this chocolate delight
02:02 Now I'm going to start with the butter, now that's the piece I chopped off
02:05 I'm not going to use that, that's a small piece, I'm going to use this big piece
02:08 So, good lump of butter there
02:11 And let's just put that in
02:14 I'll just get that out of the way for me
02:16 That's a lot of butter, but it will taste wonderful
02:20 Let's just switch this on
02:23 And what I'd say is, fairly low heat, you should want it to gently melt
02:27 And really we've got some golden syrup put in there, so might as well do that now
02:32 And let's use...
02:37 Four of those, so that's one
02:44 And I'll just carry on doing all of those
02:47 Two, three
02:53 Four
02:56 So I've got the butter and the golden syrup and it's just been melting, you know, on a low heat
03:02 Now I'm going to pour in the cocoa powder
03:06 Just mix that in, so doing it on a low heat, it'll just give it a lovely chocolatey flavour
03:14 So, just leave that ticking away
03:18 Now what I'm going to do in the meantime, is get on with the biscuits
03:22 So, I'm going to break those down, I've got a plastic bag there
03:27 And I'm just going to beat those
03:31 So we're just going to give those a good bash
03:34 Break them down, turn them over, I think that'll do, don't want to do too much
03:39 So let's go back over to the pan and I think we should pour this in
03:51 It might seem a lot of biscuit, but you do want a little bit of crunch to it
03:56 There you go, I think we're just about done
03:59 We've kind of mixed that up, got all that mixture
04:04 With the lovely biscuity base and we've still got some nice chunky bits of biscuit in there
04:09 So that's done, let's put that aside
04:12 So now I've made up that biscuity base, leave that in the pan and we can go over in a minute to the table
04:17 And we can put that in the cake tin
04:19 Now what I'm going to get on with next is the chocolate mixture
04:22 Now that's really easy to do, I've got a pan, a little bit of water, not very much
04:27 What you want to do is switch the heat on and just get it gently steaming
04:31 The important thing is don't get any water in the bowl where you're going to put the chocolate
04:36 Now with the chocolate, I'm just going to bash that down a little bit
04:42 Break it up, if it's a little bit smaller it's a little bit quicker to melt
04:47 So just open that up and you can break it as you go
04:53 Just get all the chocolate in the bowl
04:58 And slowly but surely it will melt
05:01 So I'll just carry on with the rest of it
05:04 So now I'm waiting for the chocolate to melt, that's going to take a little while
05:07 Now what I'm going to do is go back over to the table, get my cake tin
05:11 And a little bit of parchment paper and a bit of butter
05:14 And we're going to start making up this biscuity base
05:18 Just pour that in initially, get it all in there
05:24 Use a good layer of base, spread that out
05:29 Squash it down, so do that until you get it fairly smooth really
05:36 Let's go and check back on that chocolate
05:39 And when that's all melted, all runny, we can pour it on top and put it in the fridge
05:44 So look at that chocolate, look at that, just starting to melt
05:48 I might just turn it up a little bit because I'm a little bit impatient
05:52 When it's all nice and runny we can pour it over the base
05:57 Now I've got my chocolate, I've just taken it off the heat
06:00 Just very gently melted it and let's just pour this in
06:05 That's good, that's good, that'll do
06:08 Now let's smooth this out a little bit, just a little bit
06:13 Get it up to the edges, doesn't have to be perfect
06:18 That'll do for me
06:22 Now, I've also got some of these, they call them sugar strands
06:29 But it's a great one to do for the kids
06:36 Because they can come out and sprinkle them on
06:40 Now this is an OO pack, so I didn't actually have any of these
06:46 Just put some of those on top
06:50 Just to make it look a little bit colourful
06:53 Now obviously with this decoration you can do any decoration you like
06:57 Make it look as pretty or as chocolatey as you want
07:02 Now I think I'll stop there
07:04 Now what I'm going to do is, I'm going to put that in the fridge
07:07 So I'm going to cover it up and let it set
07:10 Now you really want to leave it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours
07:14 Until it's really set, but you could leave it up to a week
07:18 So let's cover it up and put it in the fridge
07:22 Get a bit of tinfoil, place it over the top
07:26 That'll do
07:28 Get it in the fridge, let it cool down
07:32 And we're going to go and taste some
07:35 So I've had me chocolate delight in the fridge for a couple of hours
07:39 It's chilled out, kind of firmed up
07:43 Let's have a look at this, let's have a look
07:47 Look at that, that looks beautiful
07:53 All those little sprinklings on top, you know it really kind of makes it
07:57 Now what I'm going to do is, because it's kind of firmed up
08:00 I'm going to very gently kind of push it out
08:03 I love this cake tin, it just makes it so easy
08:07 Now, just put that over there
08:10 Now if I can, I'm going to try and slide it off of there
08:16 Might have to use a knife just to kind of get it going
08:21 Look at that
08:24 If I'm really lucky I might get that paper off the bottom as well
08:28 That is still a little bit wobbly
08:34 So I think what I'm going to do is, now I've transferred it on there
08:37 I can see it's a little bit wobbly, I'm just going to put it in the fridge
08:40 Just to really harden off a little bit more
08:43 Because I don't want to cut into it now because I think it'll be nicer when it's kind of firmer
08:47 So leave it in the fridge for a little bit longer, maybe half an hour or an hour
08:52 Really firm up and, oh, let's cut a slice
08:56 Now I've had the Chocolate Delight in the fridge in total for about 3 hours
09:01 Now after 2 hours I transferred it onto this plate
09:07 Let me just bring that in view, because it's still a little bit wobbly after 2 hours
09:11 But I thought, really I've got to take this out and try some of it
09:15 So it's been in the fridge for a total of 3 hours
09:18 And I've got to get it stuck in
09:21 Look at that, it looks beautiful
09:23 Let me just try a bit of this
09:25 So leave it in the fridge for a lot longer
09:28 Still just a little bit runny there
09:32 But I think that is good enough to eat
09:36 Mmm
09:38 Let me just, I'm going to put that on that plate there
09:42 Move that out of the way
09:45 Woah, look at that
09:49 Mmm
09:51 Let me just try this, let's get stuck in
09:55 Look, look at that, look
09:58 Got a really nice sort of, you can see the bits of biscuit in there
10:02 Look absolutely delicious, let me just try this
10:06 [CRUNCHING]
10:12 Mmm
10:14 [CRUNCHING]
10:18 Mmm
10:20 Mmm
10:22 I'm speechless
10:24 This is so good
10:26 Mmm
10:28 Mmm
10:30 The chocolate, oh
10:32 Oh it just melts in your mouth, it's wonderful
10:36 Mmm
10:38 Mmm
10:40 I just can't speak, let me try a bit more
10:44 Mmm
10:47 Mmm
10:50 Mmm
10:53 Mmm
10:55 [CRUNCHING]
11:05 Mmm
11:07 [CRUNCHING]
11:16 That really is absolutely heavenly
11:22 Oh
11:24 [SLURPING]
11:28 Go and make this, it is so chocolatey
11:33 It sticks to your mouth
11:36 Beautiful, this is absolutely delicious
11:41 And the good thing is, you can keep it in the fridge, cover up for about a week
11:46 So make it up in advance
11:49 And if anybody pops round and they're going to taste this
11:53 You never get rid of them, absolutely delicious
11:56 Thanks for watching my videos
11:59 I'll see you on the next one, hopefully
