00:00 - All right, gentlemen, you know what time it is.
00:02 - [speaking Spanish]
00:03 - Fight hard.
00:04 - [speaking Spanish]
00:06 - Fight clean. - [speaking Spanish]
00:07 - Touch 'em up. - [speaking Spanish]
00:10 - Main event time, 12-0, Otar Aronazian...
00:18 against Eddie Valencia.
00:20 20 victories as a professional tonight,
00:24 his 38th professional fight.
00:26 - Luke, when you ready?
00:28 - Luke, when you ready?
00:30 - Bail.
00:32 - Here we go.
00:33 It's time to fight.
00:35 Aronazian in the black and gold trunks,
00:39 the southpaw, Eddie Valencia,
00:41 in the black and gold trunks.
00:45 - You'd be hard-pressed to find a tougher stare-down
00:47 than the one these two just gave each other.
00:50 These guys mean business.
00:52 - Pauly, you had talked during the fighter meetings
00:56 to Otar about-- Otar is a Georgian name.
00:59 Aronazian is Armenian. - Yeah.
01:02 - And so he is an Armenian born in Georgia.
01:05 - Yeah, yeah, well, I guess the former Soviet republics,
01:09 they used to mull around. - Yep.
01:11 - He ended up seeing that.
01:13 - In a good place, happy to be fighting,
01:16 taking everything he told us very seriously
01:18 in his quest for a title shot.
01:23 Aronazian, orthodox, Valencia, southpaw.
01:27 - Aronazian doing a great job of cutting off the ring.
01:30 He's not following his man at all.
01:31 He's sidestepping with him,
01:32 making that ring very, very small.
01:35 - Valencia getting pressure,
01:39 but he looks pretty comfortable so far,
01:42 at least body language-wise.
01:43 Let's see.
01:44 Once these guys start engaging,
01:45 I got a feeling it's gonna set off.
01:49 Valencia trying to be crafty, though,
01:51 at that 30-fight experience, right?
01:52 - Yeah. - Ooh, ooh.
01:53 - Just lapping shots there.
01:56 - 246 rounds.
02:00 10 setbacks in his professional career,
02:03 but Eddie Valencia has never been stopped.
02:07 Just past the midway point of round number one,
02:12 our main event scheduled for 10.
02:15 Eddie Valencia trying to go over the top.
02:18 - Yeah, I've followed a couple of Valencia's fights,
02:19 and, I mean, don't let those 10 losses fool you.
02:21 This guy is very capable
02:23 and knows his way around a boxing ring.
02:25 - And he's faced off as well, Chris, as you well know,
02:29 against some pretty tough competition.
02:31 - Oh, yeah, absolutely.
02:32 Jesse Magdaleno and Ricky Vivas,
02:33 who they fought an absolute thriller on "Top Ring Show"
02:36 a couple years ago at that I call...
02:40 like the Champ Ball, he said.
02:41 I mean, once these guys start landing,
02:43 I think it's really gonna open up.
02:46 - You know, we've had some pretty quick knockouts
02:49 in our three fights thus far.
02:51 I have a feeling this is gonna be much more of a battle
02:54 that goes deep towards the distance.
02:56 - Yeah, well, you see they're still fighting at close range.
02:58 Both of these guys have the-- they're not really runners,
03:01 and they have the willingness to engage,
03:03 but they're also very capable.
03:04 They know how to defend themselves at close range,
03:06 but they also know how to give and take that action
03:08 at close range, and you can see right here
03:10 that most of the round has been fought at this distance.
03:12 Yet both have been very responsible so far.
03:15 - And both are fighting well in spots.
03:16 I mean, if-- ooh, good performance.
03:18 - Good body shot.
03:20 - 30 seconds, gentlemen. Let's support the bell.
03:21 10 seconds.
03:23 - Good body shot.
03:24 Combination thrown at the end of the round by Valencia.
03:27 - Remember what I said about Valencia.
03:29 Whenever he gets hit, whenever he gets tagged,
03:30 he answers right back,
03:31 and then you saw that at the end of the round.
03:33 [cheers and applause]
03:37 - Good start to our main event.
03:39 [indistinct chatter]
03:42 [cheers and applause]
03:44 - Push. No water. Push. No water.
03:48 [indistinct chatter]
03:51 - No surprise that Otar Erinosian
04:14 did not take the stool.
04:16 He didn't take the stool in his last fight at all either, Chris.
04:19 - He didn't take water either. He said, "No water. No water."
04:22 That's a hard man. - That is a hard man
04:24 who's looking for a big win,
04:25 wants to get lucky number 13 tonight.
04:28 - And he's got-- - Here on "Pro Box."
04:29 - He's got ex-heavyweight contender
04:30 Timur Abragamov in the corner.
04:32 Remember Timur and Sultan Abragamov?
04:33 - Yep. - Pretty good heavyweight contenders.
04:35 And then that--
04:37 - Surrounded by some brilliance
04:40 and a longtime coach of 29-year-old Otar Erinosian.
04:46 Round number two.
04:48 Quick hands, blue gloves, the Southpaw of Valencia.
04:52 Otar Erinosian, white gloves.
04:56 He is in the orthodox stance.
04:58 And I say that because they have matching trunks.
05:00 - Beautiful stuff there from Otar Erinosian,
05:02 really putting his punch together really nicely, really well.
05:05 And like you said, champ, I mean, when he throws,
05:06 he throws hard. - Yeah.
05:07 - He's not looking to touch him.
05:09 - Yeah, and it was a nice catch and shoot there
05:10 when you were using the left hook after blocking that
05:12 right hook to the body of Valencia.
05:15 Very precise puncher too, 'cause Valencia's a hard guy to hit.
05:17 He's got some awkward head movement and footwork.
05:19 And Otar has been pretty high percentage thus far.
05:22 - Well, the-- - Stop, stop, stop, stop.
05:24 - The word of the night shot. - Okay, keep it clean.
05:26 - Word of the night has been positioning
05:28 with the knockouts we saw earlier,
05:29 and Otar is able to create stuff
05:30 because of that positioning as well.
05:32 - Did you see that little sneaky shot from Valencia
05:34 on the break to the body?
05:36 He's a tricky guy, man. - Yeah, that's crass.
05:38 - Well, he did say in the meetings yesterday, Chris,
05:41 "I have experience and intelligence."
05:45 Valencia's team feels they have a good strategy,
05:48 and he can answer any rhythm or pace
05:52 that Otar knows he may put on.
05:54 - Yeah, Valencia likes to punch with his guys
05:55 and then answer him on top of it afterwards.
05:58 He's a combination puncher,
06:00 but he usually is off of his opponent's rhythm.
06:02 - And it's really been really--
06:04 he's got some smart body shots to it
06:06 when he's punching with Otar.
06:07 And I've noticed a couple of good body shots
06:09 he's landed in there.
06:10 You can see Otar's stomach is actually all red
06:12 from some of those shots.
06:14 And like we saw in the Ryan Garcia-Giovante Davis fight,
06:18 when you get hit with a body shot while you're throwing,
06:20 it takes that much more out of you.
06:21 - Little man's head down. Keep the head--
06:23 head's up, okay? Come on now.
06:24 Box!
06:26 - Right hand off the break.
06:28 One minute on the clock here in round number two.
06:33 - You know what? Otar's punch selection
06:35 reminds me a little bit of Olmechenko.
06:37 Some of those shots,
06:38 even though he's coming from the orthodox position,
06:40 just the way he throws them,
06:41 the uppercut to the hook,
06:43 that little looping shot off the backhand.
06:46 - He just has a little bit more hitch in there, though.
06:47 You know, he's trying so hard to hit you hard.
06:50 Olmechenko is more flowy with it.
06:51 But nonetheless, I see the similarity
06:53 in terms of what he's trying to do.
06:54 - Ooh, that's that sneaky body shot again.
06:57 Ooh, nice tank. - One way to test a gas tank
07:01 that seems to never get emptied
07:03 is to continue to punish the body.
07:05 - Couple of clashes of heads there.
07:06 You gotta be careful.
07:07 - Yeah, you gotta be fighting at real close range.
07:08 And of course, left-giver tried to get close range.
07:11 - Mm.
07:12 - Quick snap hook lands for Otar Aronosian.
07:16 - That's been a good weapon thus far.
07:17 He landed another good one in the first round as well.
07:20 Still have some heads.
07:21 - 10 seconds.
07:22 - The Mexican fighter from Sinaloa going to the body.
07:24 Oh, what a shocker.
07:26 - Is it just me, or are these rounds flying by?
07:28 I can't believe we already hit the block.
07:30 [bell dings]
07:32 - And the pace early in this fight is outstanding.
07:36 They get fought about six inches away from each other
07:38 every single round the whole time.
07:40 - I was actually thinking about that
07:42 'cause I was watching a lot of Otar's fights before this,
07:44 and we talked about the showboating.
07:45 I was wondering if he was gonna be able to do that
07:47 with Valencia because how much--
07:49 that could be fighting so close together.
07:51 [crowd cheering]
07:54 - Little shot over the top there from--
08:20 [whistle blows]
08:21 - There it is. - That was that sneaky body shot.
08:22 - That was that sneaky body shot
08:23 that I was talking about on the break.
08:25 He's been doing really, really well with that in this fight.
08:27 And there's that left hook.
08:28 That's been the best weapon for Aronozian so far.
08:31 But watch out for those body shots.
08:33 I'm hoping the judges are paying attention to those.
08:35 - Round number three.
08:37 - There he is again. - Both men in the black
08:38 and gold trunks.
08:40 Aronozian, white gloves, orthodox, blue gloves,
08:42 southpaw, Eddie Valencia.
08:45 - Oh, showboating. Oh!
08:47 - Special shoot there by Aronozian.
08:49 [whistle blows]
08:51 - They continue to throw with ill intention
08:55 and at a very high pace.
08:58 - Valencia's got some beard on him.
08:59 That was a big shot.
09:01 - Hut!
09:04 - Valencia just fought 21 days ago.
09:08 In fact, he had two fights last month,
09:10 April 1st and April 27th.
09:13 - Jeez.
09:15 - No inactivity for him, Chris.
09:17 - That doesn't even disbar. Just fights.
09:20 - Once every day of the old days, right?
09:21 - Yeah, right?
09:23 - Oh.
09:24 - Good transition catch and shoot there from Valencia.
09:26 We've seen a few times on Aronozian.
09:29 It's Valencia there again with a catch and shoot
09:30 and returns fire from Aronozian.
09:33 - Wow, these guys are--
09:34 - Oh, outstanding.
09:37 - You can't even commentate on this.
09:38 They come--they answer so quickly.
09:42 - Ooh, over the top of the right.
09:43 I think that was--
09:45 - There were eight or nine straight jabs
09:47 thrown by Otar Aronozian in that last exchange.
09:50 - Now, his foot. Watch the foot. Watch the foot.
09:51 - And a good combination by Valencia.
09:56 - I--big change up there.
09:59 Was looping that hand.
10:00 I mean, it made it straight and landed right down the middle.
10:04 - We talked about Otar all night.
10:07 - Now, his hand.
10:08 - Chris and Paulie being all action.
10:09 Well, you know what?
10:11 Looks like he's got an all-action opponent in front of him.
10:13 - Aronozian trying to get--get a break by pushing down
10:16 on the head, almost like a Muay Thai lock on Valencia.
10:19 Valencia's like, "All right, I'll just go to the body."
10:22 - Sneaky uppercut lands for Valencia.
10:24 - Valencia is very crafty.
10:26 Every time Aronozian tries to take an angle,
10:28 he just throws a body shot, puts it right in the middle.
10:33 - Good two-way exchange by both of these guys.
10:37 - Yeah, this has been an excellent round.
10:40 Nice feint there from Valencia.
10:42 You can see the high IQ, the boxing brilliance
10:46 and intelligence from both of these men.
10:49 But, man, they're going at a big pace.
10:51 They're going body.
10:52 They're going head.
10:53 They're throwing hooks.
10:54 They're throwing jabs.
10:55 They're doing it all, and we're just in round number three.
11:00 - Tell you what, Jay, you mentioned
11:01 if the judges are paying attention to the body shots
11:03 Valencia's throwing, if he keeps landing good body shots
11:06 like that later in the fight, it's
11:08 going to be Otar himself who's going
11:09 to end up paying attention.
11:10 - Yeah, well, you could see the redness all around him.
11:12 He's done the abs of Otar already from those body shots.
11:16 - Good shots.
11:16 He's talking.
11:17 - Ooh.
11:18 - Otar talking.
11:21 - A little answer to that body shot earlier.
11:24 - Otar talking and fighting.
11:26 Valencia didn't like it.
11:27 - Valencia's corner especially didn't like it.
11:28 They jumped up out of their seats.
11:30 [bell ringing]
11:31 - Round three in the books.
11:35 - Both of these guys, a lot of machismo,
11:36 and neither guy wants to back off from the other.
11:39 - And one guy doesn't want to score.
11:41 That's the thing about Valencia.
11:42 You cannot let those 10 losses fool you.
11:44 This guy comes to win.
11:46 - Never been stopped, as we mentioned, Chris.
11:48 - [speaking russian]
11:50 - Good right hand here from Otar.
12:11 That was a good catch and shoot there.
12:12 See, Otar's back leg came up off the ground.
12:15 Otherwise, he would have gotten more muscle on that shot.
12:17 And then here on the inside, a little nippy.
12:21 Catch and shoot, good exchange in there.
12:22 - Back up, back up, back up.
12:24 - See, Otar trying to make space there.
12:25 - There's some pumping jabs, you guys.
12:26 - Yeah, using that just to create some space
12:27 so he can load up these kind of shots.
12:29 [bell ringing]
12:30 - That whole round was just back and forth.
12:32 - This whole fight has been back and forth.
12:36 Mike Olber, Chris Algieri, the Magic Man,
12:38 Paulie Molinaggi, Wednesday Night Fights, live
12:41 from our Pro Box TV Event Center,
12:44 just outside of downtown Tampa, Florida, here in Plant City.
12:48 This is our main event of the evening,
12:51 a lightweight fight scheduled for 10 rounds.
12:55 And the first three have been spectacular.
12:57 - I'm curious how this fight's going to unfold.
13:04 It's like the gas tank of Aranosian versus the chin
13:08 of Valencia.
13:11 Both guys are testing each other.
13:12 - So let's go to the scorecards, Chris.
13:14 What do you have it after three?
13:16 - I got Aranosian up 2-1.
13:17 - Paulie?
13:18 - Yeah, same with me.
13:19 The round-- oh, good exchange of body shots there.
13:22 - I don't know who got the better of it.
13:24 - Oh, got it again.
13:26 They want to show you this.
13:27 They tried it again.
13:30 - Aranosian has such good upper body movement.
13:33 - Yeah, beautiful stuff.
13:34 - And he moves his feet as well.
13:35 He'll move the upper body, then his feet slide out underneath
13:38 him, puts himself in position.
13:39 Keeps really good balance.
13:40 That's why he's able to load up on those shots
13:42 and land with power.
13:45 - And both guys' transition attack the defense
13:47 or attack the defense.
13:48 They fall very well, and that's why there's
13:49 been such good exchanges.
13:50 - I love that head movement from Aranosian.
13:57 Even when he's in close like that,
13:58 he's still pulling in, out, up, and down.
14:00 He's using that 3D defense.
14:02 - Yeah, and he's trying to just change the range just
14:04 subtly, trying to set little traps.
14:08 Of course, sometimes he gets impatient.
14:09 He's dying to hit you so badly, but he's at the same time,
14:11 he is thinking.
14:12 He's trying to subtly change that range.
14:15 - He's like a wind-up toy.
14:16 He just wants to go.
14:17 - But he's always at least 90% wound up,
14:22 even before he really goes to 100%.
14:26 There it is, right on cue.
14:28 One minute, round four.
14:31 - And Aranosian has shoes that don't match, by the way.
14:35 Fashion statement.
14:37 - Good catch there, Goldie.
14:38 - Thank you.
14:39 - Good catch.
14:40 - Maybe I should--
14:41 instead of black and gold trunks,
14:43 I can say one black and gold shoe,
14:45 two black and gold shoes.
14:47 - Aranosian's done a good job this round.
14:49 And again, it's because I think of those subtle range changes.
14:51 He hasn't allowed Valencia to get off as much,
14:53 and he's been able to get off and then change range,
14:55 just get back out of range.
14:57 He hasn't really been at far distance,
14:58 but just enough distance to where now he's
15:00 starting to feel his own rhythm.
15:02 - And he realizes he's taken an edge in this fight.
15:06 - Of course, you don't want to wake the Mexican up.
15:09 - Yeah, I think he should leave the show
15:11 holding at home with this guy.
15:12 It's not the right guy.
15:13 - He said, I've been a showman since I was a little dude.
15:20 Even as a kid, he used to have this style and profile.
15:24 Not something he makes up.
15:26 It just comes naturally.
15:28 - And Jeff, you had mentioned machismo with these two guys.
15:30 It seems like Aronozian almost lets his machismo
15:32 in the corner.
15:33 It's like, you know what, I'm going to use my boxing skills
15:34 to get that round, because that was a much better round
15:36 from Aronozian.
15:37 - But at the end of it, it's about he got sucked back
15:38 into the exchanges.
15:40 When he's thinking, those subtle range changes--
15:43 - [speaking spanish]
15:44 - I'm curious to see if he's going to use it in the next round.
15:48 - That's something that could hurt Aronozian
15:50 as the competition goes up, being
15:51 able to be goaded into a fight like that
15:53 and get out of your game plan.
15:54 - Yep, absolutely.
15:56 [speaking spanish]
15:59 - The physical matchup has been brilliant.
16:13 You can see some mental warfare going on as well.
16:16 - Yeah, you saw Aronozian go back to his showboating ways.
16:19 And Valencia's like, I'm here too, bro.
16:21 I can do the same thing.
16:22 He actually dropped right next to him
16:23 when he did that as well.
16:24 It's like they were matching each other move for move.
16:27 [bell dings]
16:29 - Main event scheduled for 10 rounds, round 5.
16:34 Orthodox White Gloves, Otar Aronozian, non-matching shoes,
16:39 Southpaw, Eddie Valencia.
16:43 You can tell he came to fight.
16:44 And now everything he said to us yesterday in the fighter
16:48 meetings, Chris, he wasn't kidding.
16:50 He is ready.
16:51 He is adjusting to the pace.
16:53 He does have experience.
16:55 And you can see he's trained with some fast fighters.
16:57 - Yeah, I knew this was going to be a big test for Otar
17:00 Aronozian because Valencia really comes to fight.
17:02 He's one of those guys.
17:03 I mean, he's always going to give a good showing of himself.
17:05 He may not win.
17:06 He might not always be victorious.
17:07 But he's going to push you.
17:09 - You think Aronozian knows that Valencia might not
17:11 speak English?
17:12 [laughter]
17:14 - You're going to know Aronozian has done a good job
17:18 of attacking and then getting just out of range.
17:21 - Valencia has gone the distance four times
17:25 in 10 round fights.
17:28 He's gone a full 12 three times.
17:32 So it seems like his gas tank is somewhat unlimited as well.
17:38 We'll see as the fight continues.
17:39 [shouting]
17:42 - [speaking spanish]
17:44 - [shouting]
17:45 - [speaking spanish]
17:46 - [speaking spanish]
17:48 - [shouting]
17:50 - Yeah, a lot of mental warfare every time
17:53 Christopher Young breaks these two fighters.
17:57 - Aronozian is talking more and more to his opponent,
18:01 to the people in the corners, to people watching the fight.
18:05 - He's enjoying himself.
18:07 - Finding his rhythm.
18:08 He made a change a few rounds ago.
18:10 And he's starting to show his class.
18:12 There, we see the head movement.
18:15 - Good uppercut followed by the hook.
18:18 And then a quick combination.
18:19 - If he languishes in there, though,
18:20 Valencia lets him know.
18:21 He still lands some shots there.
18:24 Aronozian, this fight is the kind of thing
18:26 it'll test his discipline.
18:28 - There's the shoe tap.
18:30 - Stop that. Stop. Stop. Stop.
18:31 - Nice straight right hand and spin
18:33 as he looks and smiles at the corner.
18:35 - Fight clean. Box.
18:37 - Christopher Young does not want any dance lessons given
18:41 in the ring here in our main event tonight.
18:44 Head body from Aronozian.
18:46 - Yeah, we're starting to see the separation.
18:48 Aronozian is just classy.
18:52 All that shifty movement, all those big shots.
18:55 - He's like a bustle.
18:57 - Yeah. He builds on momentum.
18:58 He sets a pace, and when he finds his rhythm,
19:02 he's a nightmare.
19:03 - And, Paulie, that just wears on an opponent mentally,
19:06 doesn't it?
19:07 - It does.
19:08 I mean, but I'm not sure it's going to wear Valencia,
19:11 so to speak.
19:12 I mean, he's got a lot of experience.
19:14 He's got a lot of experience.
19:15 He's got a lot of experience.
19:16 He's got a lot of experience.
19:17 He's got a lot of experience.
19:19 He's got a lot of experience.
19:20 He's got a lot of experience.
19:21 He's got a lot of experience.
19:22 He's got a lot of experience.
19:24 He's got a lot of experience.
19:25 He's got a lot of experience.
19:26 He's got a lot of experience.
19:28 He's got a lot of experience.
19:29 He's got a lot of experience.
19:30 He's got a lot of experience.
19:31 He's got a lot of experience.
19:32 He's got a lot of experience.
19:34 He's got a lot of experience.
19:35 He's got a lot of experience.
19:36 He's got a lot of experience.
19:37 He's got a lot of experience.
19:38 He's got a lot of experience.
19:40 He's got a lot of experience.
19:41 He's got a lot of experience.
19:42 >> Let's go to the second half of our main event.
19:44 Let's revisit the keys, Paulie, for Otar Aronosian.
19:48 >> We talk about pressure, pressure, pressure.
19:49 That's all he's brought.
19:50 You know, he's brought the fight.
19:52 Feint first.
19:53 I think he's been first a lot, especially the last couple of
19:55 rounds where he started to find a little bit of a rhythm-changing
19:58 range, and he's been able to feint first and get off first in
20:01 general because he's been able to dictate when it's time to
20:03 fight and when it's not time to fight and utilize in and out
20:06 offense.
20:06 Of course that's what he's doing.
20:08 >> And Chris, his opponent, Eddie Valencia.
20:11 He's got that rhythm, that kind of off -- that head movement
20:14 that's a little Otar Aronosian.
20:15 He's been using that quite well, especially in the beginning.
20:17 Make it rough.
20:18 I mean, this guy loves it rough.
20:19 They both do.
20:21 I don't think it really helps either one of them.
20:22 And then the sneaky body shots.
20:24 That's been the best thing he's done all night.
20:25 So that's something he needs to keep up with for sure.
20:29 >> That's the one I don't want to do.
20:30 >> That may be the most prominent of your keys to
20:33 victory that Eddie has showcased tonight are those body shots as
20:37 he looks for another one here.
20:39 >> And now, at number six, our main event here on Wednesday
20:44 night fights on your boxing channel, Pro Box TV.
20:47 [ Indistinct Chatter ]
20:50 [ Grunting ]
20:56 >> Lead double right, followed by the left.
20:59 >> But good head movement there from Valencia.
21:01 He made most of those shots miss.
21:03 >> He's got a fire off that head movement as well.
21:08 He's been answering less and less the last couple rounds.
21:11 >> I think it's awesome because Otar has changed the way he
21:14 attacks a little bit, too, changing range instead of
21:16 catching and shooting.
21:17 When you can catch and shoot, I think Valencia prefers catching
21:20 and shooting right back at you.
21:21 But now Otar is shifting it between catching and shooting
21:23 and changing range.
21:25 And that in and out, which was on the keys champ, that is
21:27 really, really -- once he made that adjustment, started using
21:29 that in and out, it really made a difference.
21:30 >> What we just saw, Valencia does not have great balance.
21:33 His footwork is awkward.
21:34 He steps and crosses his legs.
21:35 He falls off balance at times.
21:37 But as you said, when he's able to catch and shoot, he makes
21:39 that contact, maintains his balance.
21:40 When he misses, he falls over.
21:43 >> Yeah, but changing range, it affects that.
21:45 And Otar has realized that.
21:47 He's been changing range more and more, making that good
21:49 adjustment, good body shot there.
21:51 >> Valencia, the one you're talking about, Chris, I mean,
21:53 he really had to reach to try to land that punch.
21:56 >> Yeah, you see, he's off balance often, especially as
21:59 Otar steps out.
22:02 >> Big swing and a miss, answered by Aranosian.
22:07 >> And that's the midway point of round number 6.
22:09 >> Yeah, this used to be a fight about chin versus gas tank.
22:12 It's turned into a fight about balance.
22:14 And Otar has a much, much better balance than Valencia.
22:27 >> And Otar's with that check hook.
22:44 >> And a good shot on the chin of Aranosian.
22:57 And again with the left hand.
23:00 Two good shots with that straight left.
23:03 And Valencia picking up the pace.
23:06 >> And Otar's got a good finish here from Valencia.
23:16 >> And if this fight is close on the scorecards, Eddie Valencia
23:20 is going to make it even more difficult if he keeps landing
23:23 shots like he has in the last 30, 40 seconds.
23:29 >> Yeah, Otar started this round really good, but then really
23:31 stepped off the gas.
23:33 >> Yeah.
23:36 >> And the early body shots taking a little bit of effect
23:38 on Aranosian.
23:40 >> Good round.
24:05 >> Tell Aranosian, tell him, "Valencia, he's doing good,
24:08 he's doing well in the complete round, not just in spots."
24:17 >> You can see that big, looping, overhand shot from
24:19 Valencia, which he timed perfectly.
24:21 And from then on, the rest of the round, it was all Valencia.
24:23 >> And that was the spots right there, you know, he's
24:25 controlling the spots.
24:26 And you said the rest of the round, they wanted to do the
24:28 entire round and start to really take control of the fight.
24:31 I guess they believe that he can do that.
24:33 Maybe they're noticing Aranosian starting to back up a little
24:35 bit and slowing down.
24:36 >> Yeah, he's starting to, the last four rounds, shape up.
24:46 >> Valencia, now he's starting to dance a little bit and
24:50 loosen up.
24:52 Scorecards after six rounds.
24:54 Paulie.
24:55 >> I got Aranosian kind of running away with it a little
24:58 bit now.
24:59 I got it 6-1, but Valencia, the last round, made it a little
25:02 closer.
25:03 >> 5-1.
25:04 >> I mean, yeah, 5-1.
25:06 >> I got a little closer, 4-2.
25:08 I thought that Valencia stole that last round.
25:11 >> Paulie's got that crystal ball, right, magic man?
25:16 We'll see.
25:17 You never know in this fight.
25:19 >> I would say it's really, really difficult to score and
25:22 qualify at the same time.
25:24 It's really impossible, but to do it properly.
25:26 >> Unless you have four or five degrees, Chris.
25:30 >> I think you add one every show.
25:32 >> Yeah, you know.
25:34 We're partners, man.
25:37 >> You could add titles, whatever.
25:39 >> Absolutely.
25:40 Ten-time world champion, Chris Algeri, 12-time world
25:43 champion, Paulie Molinaggi.
25:45 >> Keep adding them on.
25:46 >> You've got it.
25:52 25-time Emmy award-winning producer, Richie Gaughan in the
25:56 truck with us.
25:58 >> The unsung heroes.
26:00 >> Five-time world champion, Chris Algeri.
26:03 >> Five-time director, Rick Tummin.
26:10 He's going to get a sixth after tonight's performance, I would
26:13 say.
26:14 All right, back to the fight.
26:16 Thanks a lot for throwing stuff back at me, guys.
26:18 You guys are awesome.
26:20 >> This has been what is considered a slow round for
26:22 these two.
26:23 >> Yes.
26:24 >> Still throwing a lot of punches.
26:26 It's still an active round, but compared to what they've been
26:29 doing.
26:30 >> There you go.
26:32 >> Under a minute here in round number seven.
26:35 >> You know, as crafty as Valencia has been and the way
26:39 that he's placed these shots, I wonder -- he's not a big
26:42 puncher, so I wonder what's going to happen when Aronosian
26:45 steps up with a guy who can really punch.
26:48 >> Yeah.
26:49 We talk about enthusiasm.
26:50 Is the enthusiasm going to be there?
26:52 Because he's in range a lot and he likes to assault you.
26:55 What happens if the guy is able to answer back with good
26:58 punches?
26:59 >> He's got to be able to answer back.
27:01 He's got to be able to answer back with good punching power
27:04 because Aronosian, he defends well, but he's a hit-able
27:07 because he's always in punching range.
27:09 >> 12-0, six knockouts in the professional career of Otar
27:15 Aronosian.
27:16 >> Like you said, like, Tim, he's got very good defense.
27:20 Good luck to him.
27:21 Very good defense, but after all those fights, his face is
27:24 very knotted up.
27:25 Not that he's getting beat up per se, but he's in the fray.
27:28 >> He engages a lot.
27:29 >> Yeah.
27:30 When you're trading shots like that and you're getting hit,
27:33 you've got a guy who can really punch, it can be a different
27:36 night.
27:37 >> I said at the time of the show, this is going to be a fun
27:41 main event.
27:42 >> Yeah, this is a fight I think we were all looking forward to
27:45 because we knew what these guys brought to the table.
27:48 And you need a good dance partner, and these two both have
27:51 good dance partners.
27:52 >> Yeah.
27:53 >> And they're both great.
27:54 >> Yeah.
27:55 >> They're both great.
27:56 >> Yeah.
27:57 >> They're both great.
27:58 >> Yeah.
27:59 >> And they both have good dance partners.
28:01 [crowd cheering]
28:03 >> Good shot selection from both guys there.
28:05 Aronozian changing the angles with the punches, and Valencia
28:09 responding from defense to offense, flowing.
28:12 [crowd cheering]
28:17 >> Otar Aronozian will never auction off a stool in which he
28:22 has used in a fight because he never takes the stool.
28:27 [crowd cheering]
28:31 >> Our main event continues.
28:33 Eddie Valencia, black and gold trunks as supported by his
28:37 opponent, Otar Aronozian.
28:41 Sinaloa, Mexico's Eddie Valencia, the southpaw, and Otar
28:45 Aronozian in the orthodox stance.
28:49 Round number eight.
28:52 [crowd cheering]
29:02 >> Mm.
29:03 >> What a game.
29:04 >> What a competition now.
29:05 >> And again, going back to the in and out of Aronozian, which
29:07 has had-- given him so much success.
29:09 When there's a subtle range change, it really throws
29:12 Valencia for a loop.
29:14 >> Ooh.
29:15 >> Such quick hands.
29:16 >> And that in and out is what gave Valencia hell when he
29:19 fought Jesse Magdaleno.
29:20 He was in and out.
29:21 He just peaced him up all night long.
29:23 >> He's got a strong feigning change range again for
29:25 Aronozian.
29:26 You see Valencia now not getting off because he's not sure if
29:29 you're going to be in range to punch or not.
29:31 >> That Magdaleno fight, May of last year, went the eight round
29:35 distance.
29:37 Unanimous decision victory went the way of Jesse.
29:41 >> Free!
29:43 [crowd cheering]
29:48 >> Both of you have talked so often about, "Don't come in
29:51 one punch and then out.
29:53 Set it up.
29:54 Throw your hands.
29:55 Let loose."
29:56 I mean, this is the blueprint of everything that you guys talk
30:00 about that others should try to do more often.
30:03 It's always a combination.
30:04 He's in and out.
30:05 He's always moving.
30:07 And a lot of fun to watch.
30:09 >> Yeah, it's fun.
30:10 But keep in mind that also why he's here, you know?
30:12 >> Yeah.
30:13 >> And so not every prospect is going to fight like this, not
30:15 because they don't want to be fun, but because, you know,
30:17 they're also more attentive to maybe not getting hit as much.
30:20 >> And Aronozian is not reckless.
30:21 He's defensively responsible, but he's always close range.
30:23 No matter how responsible you are defensively, when you're at
30:25 close range, you're going to take shots.
30:27 >> Free!
30:29 >> This a lightweight fight, but both men were light on the scale.
30:33 132 for Valencia, 131.2 for Aronozian.
30:38 >> Yeah, and that's the thing.
30:39 I mean, most probably these guys will campaign 130 pounds if it
30:42 comes time for a title shot.
30:43 Yes.
30:46 >> Watch the weight.
30:47 Let him go.
30:48 Let him go.
30:49 >> You know, when you don't see guys, you mentioned, you know,
30:51 all the things that we talked about with Otar and how he's
30:54 fighting, how we want other guys to do too.
30:55 It's also the gas tank.
30:56 >> Yeah.
30:57 >> Very few guys have the endurance that this guy has.
30:59 All those feints, those explosive maneuvers, those sap your gas
31:02 tank every time, and he does them constantly.
31:04 >> Yeah, and even fighting at this range, it's very energy
31:07 burning, you know?
31:08 He can be overwhelming.
31:10 Sometimes you can overwhelm yourself, doesn't that?
31:12 >> Watch the weight.
31:13 >> But not him.
31:14 He's used to it.
31:15 >> Watch the weight.
31:16 Stop!
31:17 Let's go!
31:18 >> You know, you got plenty of energy when you can still yell
31:20 too.
31:21 >> Yeah.
31:22 And that one I understood.
31:23 Let's go!
31:24 >> Look at that.
31:25 And a right hand.
31:26 >> Turns the corner nicely.
31:28 [ Bell ringing ]
31:29 >> Good finish in that round for Otar Aronosian.
31:34 >> They give each other a glare.
31:36 >> He kicks his stool.
31:38 Valencia kicked his stool.
31:40 >> And there's no stool to kick for Otar, but Valencia's
31:42 kicking some stools here.
31:44 And it's funny, because sometimes you have to be a little
31:46 bit more respectful.
31:48 And it's funny, because sometimes you have to respect
31:50 each other, touch gloves, and just there, they're glaring at
31:52 each other.
31:53 As the fight is worn on, I've seen a couple of glove touches.
31:55 Not that time.
31:56 >> You can tell, these guys definitely respect each other,
31:58 as much as their jibber-jabber back and forth.
32:00 There's a lot of respect.
32:01 >> I felt like we were watching "Officer and the Gentleman."
32:04 Don't eyeball me.
32:05 Don't eyeball me.
32:06 >> The girl's got the wrong ground, though.
32:08 >> It's actually around 9, around 10.
32:10 >> I was saying these rounds are going by fast.
32:12 I didn't think it was going that fast.
32:14 >> No, it was around 8 before.
32:16 >> So he's foreshadowing as well.
32:18 >> Yes.
32:21 >> That's confusing to the fighter, because he can see
32:23 that around 10.
32:24 >> That's why the referee did a good job.
32:26 He sees maybe he can get him focused.
32:28 Not that it's around 9.
32:29 [whistle blows]
32:31 >> Stick it up.
32:32 Around 9.
32:34 Around 9.
32:35 [bell dings]
32:36 Box!
32:38 >> Round 9.
32:40 Fight scheduled for 10.
32:45 >> Valencia never stopped as a professional.
32:50 Aranosian never been defeated in his professional career.
32:57 >> I was going to say, I hope the fight wasn't over yet.
32:59 I'm having a good time watching this fight.
33:01 >> This one could go 12.
33:06 Valencia trying to reach and find that body.
33:09 Got to be careful not to get off balance, Chris, like you
33:12 talked about before.
33:14 >> He's a little bit more comfortable with the in and out
33:16 because he falls forward and falls into shots.
33:18 He misses and he's off balance and gives Aranosian
33:21 opportunities to counter.
33:28 >> A little different in this fight.
33:30 There's been a lot of activity for Aranosian.
33:32 Even at close range, he's gotten more punches.
33:34 But now with the ability to be in and out, a lot of times
33:36 he's the only one getting off.
33:38 Although there, when they are at range, Valencia takes
33:40 advantage and throws his own shots.
33:42 >> He could have counter left a moment ago.
33:47 >> I like how even though Aranosian was getting the better
33:49 of the exchanges early on, he saw that there was an
33:52 opportunity to widen the gap and he took it.
33:55 He didn't just stay in the pocket because he was having
33:57 fun.
33:58 He's like, you know what, let me separate myself from this
34:00 guy, show everybody why I'm so good.
34:04 >> You play too much, box.
34:08 >> He plays a lot but he gets a lot of work done too.
34:12 >> Yeah, he does.
34:13 >> Step on the foot there.
34:14 >> That's a classic move there.
34:16 Step on the foot, hit him with a slapping shot.
34:18 >> A little clash of heads there.
34:20 Valencia checking for blood.
34:22 >> Here we go.
34:24 >> Valencia to the body.
34:27 Aranosian everywhere has been targeted tonight.
34:31 >> Yeah, Valencia has been the distance many times.
34:33 Been more rounds than he's been the distance.
34:35 >> He's been the distance.
34:36 >> He's been the distance many times, been more rounds than
34:38 Aranosian has but he's not used to a pace like this.
34:40 >> Yes.
34:41 >> I think you're starting to see the pace is wearing on him.
34:46 >> That's going to be the thing that does make Aranosian tough
34:48 to beat.
34:49 One of his weaknesses is he's in range all the time to get hit
34:52 but of course the other thing is he's held the fight.
34:54 Anybody that's going to fight him is going to have the hard
34:56 night's work.
34:58 >> Unless they can really punch and deter him from doing these
35:01 kinds of--
35:02 >> Watch your way up.
35:03 >> You're going to have to knock him out.
35:05 >> That's what I mean.
35:08 >> And they're going to have to find him to knock him out.
35:11 >> He's not hard to find.
35:13 >> He's right there but the head movement, Paulie, the turn in
35:16 the corner.
35:17 >> Yeah, and taking the chance to throw those big shots.
35:19 He's going to be a low one in the meantime.
35:20 >> Yes.
35:21 [Cheering]
35:23 [Fighting]
35:25 >> Ten seconds, Jim, ten seconds.
35:27 >> I was on a run earlier today because I like to run before we
35:29 do our shows and I was thinking about Otar Aranosian and what
35:33 came to mind was controlled chaos.
35:36 >> Yeah.
35:37 >> That's what he is, controlled chaos.
35:39 In every way, his personality, the way that he acts in the ring,
35:41 the way that he fights.
35:43 I mean, it's a beautiful thing to watch.
35:45 >> And that goes to show you what we're talking about, Paulie,
35:48 with the find him, controlled chaos.
35:50 He finds you.
35:51 >> Yes.
35:52 >> Great point, Paulie.
35:53 >> Yeah.
35:54 >> Yep.
35:56 >> Yeah, you don't have to find the tornado.
35:58 It finds you.
35:59 >> You don't have to go away.
36:00 It'll come find you.
36:01 >> Yeah.
36:03 >> That's the thing.
36:08 As wild as he is, he's not wild.
36:11 He might be wild in his mind, but he executes in a controlled
36:15 fashion.
36:16 It's impressive.
36:18 [Cheering]
36:20 >> Ladies and gentlemen, this is your number ten, Garry Farnham!
36:27 Garry Farnham!
36:29 [Cheering]
36:33 >> Tenth and final round of our main event of the evening.
36:38 [Cheering]
36:46 >> A second time Aronozian has seen the tenth round in his
36:51 professional career.
36:53 Valencia has gone the distance.
36:55 >> Oh, there's that head clash.
36:57 >> Four times in ten rounders, three times in 12 rounders.
37:02 >> Valencia was complaining about the heads, and now we got
37:04 blood over the eyes.
37:06 >> After all night, I got to get a cut, too.
37:09 >> Chris, your scorecard as we enter the final round.
37:12 >> I got a 7-2 Aronozian.
37:14 >> Paulie?
37:15 >> I got an 8-1 Aronozian.
37:17 >> Very competitive.
37:18 >> Very competitive.
37:22 Fast-paced rounds.
37:23 >> Yeah, and he's had to work every single round that he's
37:25 won.
37:27 And Jesse's been a boss.
37:29 >> And Valencia's brought exactly what you told us, Chris,
37:33 he was going to bring, because you called his fights previously
37:36 so you're not surprised by Eddie Valencia at all.
37:39 >> Yeah, if there's nothing less, I mean, he's consistent,
37:41 and this is the way he fights.
37:43 >> There's a cut on the scalp of Aronozian, too.
37:45 >> That's probably from that head clash from the same one.
37:47 That cut over the eye of Valencia.
37:51 Those cuts high in the head, those things usually bleed a lot.
37:54 The skull is very vascular, and there's not a lot of blood
37:56 and there's not a lot of tissue there.
37:58 It's skin and a vein.
38:00 >> Yeah, but it doesn't deter Otar Aronozian from that
38:03 controlled chaos, guys.
38:05 [crowd shouting]
38:11 >> Nice head movement.
38:13 [crowd shouting]
38:18 Aronozian, he missed the punch, like, oh, come on.
38:20 Let's get back to contact.
38:22 [crowd shouting]
38:27 >> Nice, nice.
38:29 Good in and out, push and pull.
38:33 >> All action athlete, Otar Aronozian.
38:38 >> Yeah, I was curious if the gas tank was going to be
38:40 affected by those body shots early on.
38:42 It seems like that's not the case.
38:44 >> Yeah, you had a great gas tank.
38:46 He's fueled up.
38:48 >> Yeah, he's still working hard in the 10th round of an action
38:50 packed fight.
38:51 >> Which has been at an incredibly high pace throughout.
38:55 >> Ooh.
38:56 >> Just missed with that uppercut.
38:59 >> But that's because Aronozian hit it with a right.
39:01 >> Yeah.
39:02 >> That's a pretty nasty cut.
39:03 >> 30 seconds.
39:04 >> I love that-- forget language barriers.
39:06 They still, you know--
39:07 >> Yeah, still talking.
39:09 >> Boxing's universal.
39:12 >> Doesn't matter the language, Pauly.
39:13 They know what each other are saying, right?
39:15 >> Right there.
39:16 >> That's universal.
39:17 >> Yep.
39:18 >> Knuckles.
39:20 >> How else could these guys finish the fight?
39:23 >> 10 seconds.
39:25 >> He's got about three seconds.
39:27 [crowd cheering]
39:30 >> I like how Aronozian switched that lead left hook to a jab.
39:32 He learned some really hard stick jabs.
39:34 >> They go the distance in our main event of the evening,
39:40 and they fight till the very end.
39:43 [crowd cheering]
39:47 >> Give him the painting scrub.
39:49 >> That was incredible.
39:50 Aronozian, extremely entertaining.
39:52 >> And not surprisingly, the machismo continues even after
39:55 the final round between these two.
39:57 [crowd cheering]
40:00 [speaking Spanish]
40:03 [crowd cheering]
40:05 >> I believe Alex is going to need some stitches for that cut right here.
40:08 Let me get a look at the clash of heads that may have caused this cut,
40:11 this cut that's going to need some stitches.
40:14 >> That's a bad one.
40:15 Over the eye.
40:16 >> Right here.
40:17 And you see right there.
40:18 >> Aronozian's head is as well, yeah.
40:20 >> Double cut.
40:21 >> You see Valencia's like, "Come on, man, in the last round,
40:24 you had to get us cut?"
40:25 [laughing]
40:26 [crowd cheering]
40:32 >> Judges rendering their decision of our main event of the evening.
40:38 >> I had a fight like that early in my career.
40:40 You know, I was beating a guy, basically, nothing, an eight-rounder,
40:42 and I got head-bited in the last round, swelled the whole side of my face.
40:45 I'm like, "Man."
40:46 >> Yeah, and now you're playing for the next day of rowing the earth.
40:49 >> Now my mom's going to be mad at me?
40:50 Come on.
40:51 [laughing]
40:52 [crowd cheering]
41:10 >> Take a look at the highlights, and there are many.
41:13 [crowd cheering]
41:17 >> This thing was non-stop from the start.
41:19 Both guys engaged at this distance for the majority of the fight.
41:22 You see these highlights all at close range,
41:24 and we're not just grabbing random highlights.
41:26 This fight was at this range almost the entire time.
41:30 More two-way action at first, but once Otar started to adjust the range a little bit,
41:35 he started to really separate his class,
41:37 started to separate himself a little bit from Valencia.
41:41 And it was impressive because he made the decision to make that change,
41:44 to show his advanced skill set, his in-and-out, his ability to fight more than one way,
41:50 where Valencia really only had that one way,
41:52 to be the tough guy in front of you, throw combinations, hit you with those sneaky shots.
41:55 But more and more, as the fight wore on, and the hijinks wore on, started to show themselves,
42:02 you saw the class of Aronozian rise to the top.
42:07 >> And Aronozian is going to enjoy himself.
42:10 You know, violence is what he thrives on.
42:12 So you look at-- maybe somebody else will look at this fight and say,
42:14 "Man, you're just making it hard on yourself. You're making it tough on yourself."
42:17 Aronozian is making it fun for himself. He actually wants this kind of fight.
42:20 He's going to get bored if he doesn't find himself in this kind of fight.
42:23 >> He fights better when he's having fun.
42:24 >> Yeah, yeah. And it's more entertaining for fans, too, guys.
42:27 We're going to enjoy it more.
42:28 As that clash ahead, you see Valencia's like, "Come on, dude, really?"
42:31 >> An entertaining main event, to say the least.
42:37 The decision is in.
42:38 Once again, we get it to Pablo Flores.
42:41 >> Ladies and gentlemen, after ten rounds of boxing,
42:47 we now go to the judges' scorecards.
42:50 [speaking Spanish]
42:56 Big round of applause for both fighters.
42:59 [speaking Spanish]
43:05 Judge, el juez, Brian Carey, he scores it 98 to 92.
43:11 [speaking Spanish]
43:13 And judges, los jueces, Michael Ross and James O'Connor,
43:17 reach an agreement of cards 97 to 93.
43:20 [speaking Spanish]
43:27 For your winner, by the way, of unanimous decision,
43:30 [speaking Spanish]
43:34 and still undefeated,
43:37 from Ajar, Calak, and Miami, Florida,
43:43 [speaking Spanish]
43:54 >> 8-2 on one card, 7-3 on the other.
43:58 But a smile on the face of Eddie Valencia
44:01 at the end of that fight.
44:03 He had fun. He was defeated for the 11th time in his career.
44:07 [speaking Spanish]
