00:02 Well, well.
00:16 Hi everyone, it's Julia.
00:18 So today I am doing this look that's inspired
00:21 by the upcoming Disney movie, Maleficent.
00:24 So I've been watching the trailers with,
00:26 you know, Angelina Jolie as Maleficent
00:28 and I was just so inspired.
00:29 I just subbed still pictures I've seen of Angelina Jolie
00:32 and I just kind of took inspiration from it
00:34 and made my own Maleficent look.
00:36 You guys are probably wondering,
00:37 okay, well why is she wearing wings?
00:38 Like Maleficent doesn't wear wings, she's got like horns.
00:41 Actually in the trailer, there are scenes where
00:45 it goes into the backstory of Maleficent
00:46 and there's this scene where she's got these
00:48 awesome black wings that were apparently stolen from her.
00:52 So that's what the wings are from.
00:53 So let's get started with this fun and dramatic tutorial.
00:57 So as always, you'll find a complete list
00:59 of all the products that I'm using on my website,
01:01 hellojulia@graph.com.
01:03 So I started out by applying just a piece of tape
01:06 on the outer part of my eye
01:08 and then I used this very neutral colored eyeshadow.
01:11 This one's actually by Makeup Geek
01:12 and I applied that kind of on the inner part of my eye
01:16 and then just sweeping it upwards.
01:18 Next, I grabbed this mid-tone purple color,
01:23 also by Makeup Geek, and I applied that with a flat brush
01:26 to the middle and the outer third of my eye.
01:29 So I'm blending that with that cream color
01:30 that I applied earlier.
01:32 Next, I used this very, very dark purple eyeshadow
01:40 by Kryolan and as you might have noticed,
01:42 all the shadows that I'm actually using on my eye are matte
01:45 and this one is no exception.
01:47 So I applied that on the very outer third
01:49 and then working inwards, I used a crease brush
01:52 just to start blending that with the other colors.
01:57 Next, I took a black eyeshadow.
01:59 This one's by Illamasqua.
02:00 I grabbed a little bit of the black
02:02 and I just mixed it with that dark purple
02:05 just to really get a very dark look here
02:07 and then I started to blend it out again
02:10 using that crease brush.
02:12 Then I took this medium gray shade.
02:17 This one's by MAC on a very fluffy brush
02:20 and I just kind of blended out all those colors
02:23 and because this is a much larger brush,
02:26 it gives you a much softer wash of color
02:28 just to kind of get that grayish look to the eye.
02:31 Underneath my brow, I used that same color
02:36 by Makeup Geek, that cream color,
02:38 and just applied that just to blend out the colors
02:40 and add a little bit of a brow highlight
02:43 and then I went back in with that dark purple
02:46 and blended that out onto the bottom of my lid
02:49 just to kind of get a really smoky purple look.
02:52 For the eyeliner, I used a gel liner.
02:55 This one's by MAC and on a small artist brush,
02:58 I applied that to my top lid
03:00 and because you've got that piece of tape there,
03:02 it should be really easy to create a winged eyeliner
03:05 and just really kind of thicken that up
03:07 on the outer part right there.
03:09 Now that you're done with that,
03:12 you can gently remove that tape
03:14 and it will reveal a very clean outer edge
03:16 and if you've got a little bit of mistakes on the bottom,
03:19 then just use a Q-tip or whatever just to clean that up
03:22 and then I lined my eyes with this product by Lancome.
03:25 This is a waterproof kohl liner
03:28 and it's in a purple color and I lined my waterline
03:31 and just on the lower lash line with that pencil
03:35 and then I used some mascara, obviously.
03:37 This one's again by Lancome
03:38 and just really applied a thick coat of lashes
03:41 to the top and bottom lashes.
03:43 Then for the eyebrows, now,
03:46 Maleficent has obviously very, very pointy eyebrows,
03:50 so I mimicked that shape by just kind of extending the top
03:53 in a very triangular shape, as you can see.
03:56 So I'm using just an eyebrow pencil from MAC
03:59 and just outlining it first
04:01 and then filling that in with that product.
04:04 And then I used a brow powder in a dark brown color
04:09 and also a little bit of black
04:10 just to fill in those brows a bit further.
04:12 So there you should have
04:13 those very pointy Maleficent brows.
04:16 So now for the contouring.
04:17 Now, Angelina Jolie has a super contoured face
04:20 and she also has prosthetics on her face.
04:23 So obviously that's not gonna happen in this video,
04:25 but I am gonna show you how to contour very strongly.
04:28 So first I used actually a cream pigment by Illamasqua
04:31 on a foundation brush
04:33 and then I just kind of shaped out
04:35 where I want the contour to go.
04:37 This is obviously gonna look quite sort of unnatural contour
04:41 but that's kind of what I'm going for.
04:43 And then I just blended that out with a damp makeup sponge
04:46 just to blend it in a bit better.
04:48 And then to make that edge very sharp,
04:50 I used some concealer and used the other side of that sponge
04:54 just to kind of create a very sharp edge.
04:57 Then I went ahead and set that product with some powder
05:04 because this is a cream product,
05:06 you wanna set it with powder
05:07 before you put other powders on top.
05:09 So then I used this contouring powder by Ben Nye
05:12 and it's kind of a grayish brown shade
05:14 and used a contouring brush
05:17 just to really deepen up that contour even further
05:19 and make it look a bit darker.
05:21 And I also used this eyeshadow which is in a grayish color
05:25 because that contour looks quite gray on Angelina
05:28 so that's what I was going for.
05:30 And I also applied a little bit of contour
05:33 just around the top of my forehead
05:35 just to really kind of make my face look very hollowed out.
05:38 And it does look like Angelina
05:40 has a little bit of blush on her face
05:41 kind of mixed in with the contour.
05:43 So I used this blush in a very light pink tone
05:47 by Illamasqua and blended that in.
05:50 (upbeat music)
05:52 For the lips I wanted a very extreme ombre lip.
05:55 So first I'm outlining my lips
05:57 with a very, very dark burgundy lip liner.
06:01 Then I followed that up with a purplish burgundy lipstick.
06:05 This one's also by MAC.
06:07 And just using a lip brush
06:08 I filled in the outer part of my lips
06:10 making sure to leave a little space in the middle.
06:13 And that little space I'm gonna fill in
06:16 with a red lipstick.
06:17 This is kind of a deep red
06:19 and I just fill that into the center.
06:21 So there you should have those maleficent lips.
06:26 And just to kind of finish the look
06:27 I added some false eyelashes.
06:29 These are by House of Lashes.
06:31 They're very full, very, very dramatic lashes
06:34 and I think they just look really pretty with this look
06:36 and very sort of maleficent-like.
06:38 And I just glued those on using some lash glue.
06:41 And to finish everything off
06:43 I used this very white highlighter by Illamasqua.
06:46 So this probably isn't going to work
06:48 if you have darker skin.
06:49 But for this look it just worked
06:51 and I just highlighted the top of my cheekbones.
06:54 Thanks so much for watching.
