The UK's most unloved cat is still looking for her forever home after being returned to a charity because she is too hard to live with - by FOUR different owners.

Seren, a 12-year-old black and white puss, has been at a Cats Protection adoption centre in Evesham, Worcs., since April 2021.

But despite finding new owners on four separate occasions she has been swiftly returned to the shelter in a matter of days due to her settling style.

Seren has since been dubbed the charity's 'most-returned moggy' after being handed back four times in two years.

Staff say she is always calling for attention and loves a cuddle but she can get defensive when she feels unsafe in new surroundings.

And they believe if an owner was willing to give her time, she would soon develop to become their 'best friend'.

So far, Seren has only lasted between two days and two weeks before she has been brought back to the centre for rehoming again.

Louise Hill, a cat care assistant at the shelter, said: “Seren is such a character and really brightens up my day at the centre.

“I love her unique personality and how vocal she is.

“Seren is always calling for attention, and she wants nothing more than to sit on your lap and have a cuddle.

“Seren does have some anxieties when she first goes into a new home, so she is looking for an experienced owner who understands cat behaviour.

“She needs someone who is willing to let Seren blossom at her own pace.

“With time, she will become your best friend and definitely keep you entertained.”

Seren was brought in a week before her 11th birthday after her owner moved in with a new partner who owned a cat, and the two felines did not get on.

Her current stay at the shelter has already exceeded two months and she has watched all her fellow cats be rehomed in that time.

Seren is looking for an adult only home with no other pets and where there is a low cat population in the area.

Adoption centre manager Charlie Hood said: “If you can give Seren time and allow her to call the shots, she soon reveals herself to be a loving cat who enjoys spending time with you and will happily chat and enjoy fuss once she has come out of her shell.

“She loves to play with a crinkly ball that makes a noise when she taps it and is a great fan of catnip!

“Seren has been used to having her own space and will need the freedom to be with you when she wants but also to go off on her own when she needs some space.

“We’ve discovered that Seren loves watching what’s going on outside so a rarely used space to call her own, ideally with views for her to enjoy, such as a conservatory would be our dream match for her.

“A conservatory would also give Seren the chance to see people approach, making her less likely to be shocked and scared by a sudden arrival.”
