Originating from Niger, precisely from Maradi in the south, the red goat is recognisable with its characteristics which are among others its coat, its abundant fur resembling woolly sheep and its size superior to local goats.

Considered as a milking goat, the red goat produces about 1.5 litres per day. A higher milk production than the local goats.

The red goat produces one of the best milks, which is full of nutritional and therapeutic virtues, effective against malnutrition and stress. Easily digestible, this milk contains less lactose. It is rich in protein, iron, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium and minerals.

In addition to these health benefits, the breeding of the red goat helps to fight against poverty by improving the sources of income of vulnerable households.
