Beeple, one of the most popular digital artists in the world, and who found fame by selling NFTs, garnered more attention by creating a negative piece based on Russian President Vladimir Putin. With the [expletive] Putin, the piece alludes to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as well as his most unsavory management of Russia for many years prior. Anthony Scaramucci was ready to bid, posting on Twitter ($TWTR@US) that he wanted to know when the piece would be minted. Others asked if Beeple would accept Dogecoin for the piece, and they even tagged Elon Musk and Billy Markus, the famed co-creator of Dogecoin. While this new piece based on Putin has garnered quite a lot of attention, it will take quite a lot of money to surpass Beeple’s greatest hits, like “The First 5000 Days”, which was sold by Christie’s in March of 2021 for $69 million. At press time, Ethereum was trading at just over $3000, up more than 3% on dropping volume and a rising market cap.
