A WOMAN is hoping kind strangers will help her crowdfund for surgery to remove the 10kg tumour that has taken over her leg. 40-year-old Lasiyem, who lives in Blora, Indonesia, has been dealing with neurofibromatosis - a disorder that causes tumours to grow along the nerves - since she was just six. As a result, her body is covered in non-cancerous masses. In the past, she's undergone surgery to remove the tumours - but each time, they have grown back. Now, she is unable to work, and can only walk very short distances. "I have been unable to walk properly for two years," she said. "My tumour is very heavy. "When I was a child, I could walk far away. But now I can only walk to the front of the house. I feel exhausted." Lasiyem is very grateful to her sister, who lives with her and takes good care of her. She also has a lot of friends in the area who often visit her, and receives regular check-ups from a local nurse. As some of her wounds cause mild infections, Lasiyem is prone to fevers, for which she is given medicine and vitamins. However, the most life-changing thing would be surgery - though she is wary of the associated risks. As she is unable to afford the operation herself, a crowdfunding page has been set up for her. "I want to be healthy again," she said.
