Karachi: On the directives of Additional IG Karachi Imran Yaqoob Minhas and DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed, as many as 700 police personnel of security division are performing security duties during mourning processions and majalis in Muharram-ul-Haram.
According to the security plan, overall, more than 700 police personnel of security division including 500 SSU commandos along-with lady commandos are deployed at sensitive areas and traditional routes of the mourning procession during Muharram-ul-Haram. Moreover 190 SSU Commandos are deployed for the security of main mourning procession.
Apart from this, sharp shooters are also being stationed at the high-rise buildings along the main route of procession and the main procession is also being monitored by a specialized command and control bus equipped with modern cameras.
DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed said that the advanced and professionally trained Special Weapon and Tactics Team (SWAT) of Special Security Unit will remain high alert on the occasion to deal with any untoward incident.
