Part 1 of the Will Hay classic My Learned Friend (1943), in which Hay stars as a disbarred lawyer who encounters a former client he failed to save from going to jail (a superb Mervyn Johns). Johns lets him know that he plans to get murderous revenge on all those responsible for him ending up in prison, leading to Hay - along with trainee lawyer Claude Hulbert - in a race agianst time to prevent him from doing so before he gets to his final target - Hay himself!

A great black comedy (which also featured Ernest Thesinger, Charles Victor and Hy Hazell), this was to be Will Hay's last film, but it proves to be a fitting swansong. It's rarely repeated (my tape version is from 1989), which is why I thought I'd upload it here. Part 2 to follow.
