Psalm 123 is a psalm that was sung by worshippers as they ascended the road to Jerusalem to attend 3 pilgrim festivals. Other persons think that the psalm was sung by the Levite singers as they ascended 15 steps to minister at the Temple in Jerusalem. Psalm 123 reads as follows:
I lift up my eyes to You,
to You who sit enthroned in heaven.
As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till He shows us his mercy.
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
Mwen leve je m sou ou,
pou ou menm ki chita sou twotwa nan syèl la.
Kòm je esklav yo gade nan men mèt yo,
tankou je yon esklav gade nan men metrès li,
Se konsa, je nou gade Seyè a, Bondye nou an,
jouk li montre nou gen pitye li.
Gen pitye pou nou, Seyè, gen pitye pou nou,
paske nou te andire pa gen fen mepri.
Nou te andire pa gen fen
nan betiz nan men awogan yo,
mepri nan men fyè.
