Hundreds of inventors and tech fanatics took part in a wacky display of their contraptions in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 19.

The event, called Bangkok Maker Faire 2020, is the biggest exhibition in Southeast Asia for inventions and innovations - with participants from around the world attending.

Gadgets on show included an Artificial Intelligence teddy bear controlled by a robot, underwater search submarines, a flashing skeleton suit and a robot dog.

Stalls also encouraged children to make items and learn more about science.

Footage shows some of the highlights from the event.

Pairoj Kaweeyanun, CEO of Chevron Thailand which is one of the sponsors of the Bangkok Maker Faire, said the event is a ''collaboration of knowledge'' which brings ''inspiration for the new generation of makers''.

He added: ''Dare to experiment and dare to create works that can change yourself and society.''

The aim of the event, put on by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), is to boost the country's ''technological prowess, creativity and innovation''.

They added: ''Assembling veteran local and international makers, Maker Faire Bangkok 2020 brings together the best works and inspiring workshops that will bring out the maker in all fair visitors.

''The fair aims to kindle interest in science and technology among Thais, expanding on the growing success of Maker Faire Bangkok that promises to help shape Thailand into a Maker Nation.''
