This NFL Player Is Also a Doctor.
If Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs hope to move surgically through the playoffs, they'll have the advantage of an actual doctor on the playing field.
Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Lineman
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is a licensed physician,
currently in the middle of his residency.
After playing college football at McGill University in Montreal, Duvernay-Tardif was drafted by Kansas City in 2014.
The 28-year-old Canadian continued his studies
during off-season training and graduated from
McGill University Faculty of Medicine in 2018.
He even requested that the league add 'M.D.' to the back of his jersey, but the request was denied.
Duvernay-Tardif is one of a handful of players to graduate medical school and is the only active player to do so.
If being a doctor wasn't enough, the NFL veteran even filled in as a feature reporter for CBC during the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea
